Thanks Kevin for the solid explanation, especially about the battery technology. Also thanks to your wife for replying about the Scarlet Red Runner Bean questions I had. You two have great content! Take care you two!

When my batteries are exhausted; and are warm or hot; I place them in between a pair of 4" industrial cooling fans for anywhere from 15 minutes to a half hour; depending on the size of the battery. It greatly speeds up the charging time.

I bought the 16" Ego model.
Theres no way to keep up with it. I'm clearing a meadow of 6" to 12" poplars and it's lasting longer than I am. No more gas for me.

I have both EGO and Greenworks. I bought the Greenworks for their size.
EGO only has one battery platform; and it is quite large. Greenworks has five different platforms; making it easy to physically size the tool to the size of the battery.
I have four EGO chainsaws; and wouldn't trade them for anything; but when I told myself that I wanted a 14" saw; my overriding criteria was the physical size of the tool. I didn't want a beast; I wanted a reasonably powerful saw in as small of a 'package' as I could get; which is why I selected the 40v Greenworks instead of the EGO.
Can I push it as hard as the EGO? Probably not; but it's a small tradeoff for the ease of handling that the 40v Greenworks offers.

      Hi @John-cj3ve,
Thanks for sharing your experience with both EGO and Greenworks tools. It's great to hear how you've tailored your choices to fit your needs and preferences.
I agree, the physical size and handling can make a big difference, especially with something like a 14" saw. Your cooling method for the batteries is a smart way to optimize charging time - I might have to give that a try!
I haven't picked up a CS2000 or a CSX5000 yet, but I'm definitely curious to check out the new EGO products soon.
Thanks again for the insights and the tip!
      Best,
      Kevin

@GrowingABetterTomorrow they now make 4" USB fans. You can find them on Amazon. They are REALLY inexpensive; and even come with a speed control!
The reason I used the word 'industrial' for the pair I have;is because back in the day there was no such thing as USB; and I had one of the electricians at work wire up a couple of those CNC cooling fans with a six foot cord to plug into a wall outlet.
I originally had the setup made to dry out my boots for when I'd get back from a hike; and maybe crossing a creek.
That was decades ago; and I've kept them all this time. Sometimes it's good to be a packrat 😂

I bought an ego 18" saw in my opinion it's junk.. will cut 2:25
2:48 2:50 maybe 2 or 3 18 " logs and then it stops oiling.. bad design of the oiler.. the chips pull the oiler hole and oil stop coming out.. I've cleaned it .. start again and the same thing happens. JUNK AND THERE NOT GONNA STAND BEHIND IT

Keep your chain sharp and you won't have the fine dust clogging up the bar.
