    I have a lot of Fujifilm cameras, but the X-E2s (same as the -E2, but with all the firmware updates) is my EDC camera for when I have no specific intent or subject. The looks from the jpegs are as close to film-like as any digital camera that I have.
    I agree... it just looks like a camera that I need to use. I feel naked without it, so I always have it.

    I like my XE2s so much, I immediately bought another one with extra batteries and cards - and mothballed it. Never been used. Meanwhile my go to XE2s is used for both colour and B&W and infrared photography. I shoot in RAW and develop as 16bit TIF outputs in SilkyPix. I often shoot B&W at ISO6400 with the dynamic range set to 400% (so, really it’s ISO1600 with highlights pulled by 2 stops) and it is very very film like. It’s good to know I have a spare.

      I did exactly the same! Much better knowing you have a spare. I think a lot of the older Fujifilm cameras are being snapped up by existing Fuji users

      what benefits do you get from making the dynamic range set to 400?

    • @williamcurwen7428
      @williamcurwen7428 2 роки тому +3

      @@BryanMiraflor It pulls the highlights and lifts the shadows. Couple that with multiple bracketed exposures and it make it easier to create a shoulder/waist/toe tonal curve that makes HDR believable instead of plasticky. This in turn knocks out the shadow noise and lifts the colour saturation back to near normal. Not for everyone, but it works for me. Oh, yes - always make a custom white balance at base ISO.

    My first Fujifilm rig, was the X-E2s (I still have it), originally borrowed from a fellow shooter and friend. After lugging Canon rigs all over the map for several wire services and newspapers from 1981 up until 2016, I was done with photojournalism and heavy cameras, I needed a change. I had heard a lot of good things about mirrorless cameras (and some negative views as well), so I rented a Sony A7RIII in ‘17 and an Olympus OM-DE Mk10 a few weeks later…eh…not that impressed. However my aforementioned friend who was shooting with Fuji at the time. lent me his X-E2s, well, I was sold, Fuji had stolen my heart. I bought the camera from my friend and sold most of my Canon gear (though I did hang onto one of the F1s for old-time's sake). I quickly built up my Fuji system which now includes an X-Pro 2, X-Pro 3, X-T3 an X-T5 and of course my treasured X-E2s, along with a plethora of Fuji glass. The X-E2s is not going anywhere, she is still crankin’ out some stunning images.

    My farvorite fuji? I have multiple for different reasons: x100 (first one) because of muted colors, x-p1 same reason as x100 but with interchangable lenses, x-t1 because it feels great in the hand and is smaller then x-t2 and onwards, x10/x20 because they look cool and give good enough image quality for the size of the sensor :) X-T2 is great also, i think it has the best value/features ratio of the fuji's

    I have a 30x45 cm print of one of our cats. Shot with an X-E2 and the xf 50mm f 2.0. It's amazing, better than what I got out of 135 films even with an Ektar 25 and a 135 f 2.0 Nikkor. I got it out again, this Camera has a pleasant look tending to a more analog look and feel. The auto white balance is far superior to the Nikon D700, which I recently compared and I was positively surprised. The new Fujis are faster. Nevertheless, the result I like even more.

    the X-E2 is definetly sharp. wanna know why? The X-Trans 2 is the last sensor that does not use an antialiasing filter in front of the sensor from Fuji. As you probably know already, the AA filter is here to prevent shimering color abberation that would occur on lines that are very close together, like textile. Only that applies to Bayer sensors after a certain resolution. The X Trans is prefectly fine in that regard at 16 MPx (they had to pu one for X Trans 3 and 4 though) meaning that images are sharper than for other cameras with AA filter at that same resolution.

    • @marcp.1752
      @marcp.1752 2 роки тому +3

      Sorry that's untrue! All X-Trans Sensor by Design don't use a AA Filter, hence inside the OLPF (optical lowpass Filterblock) that means the glass, which sits in front of the Sensor.

    • @marcp.1752
      @marcp.1752 2 роки тому +2

      What is even more, the X-Trans Sensor (special Colorfilter Array - vs. the ordinary Bayer CFA) does give around ca. 20% Resolution advantage, vs. a Sensor with the same MP count, but with ordinary Bayer CFA, and therefore with (usually, but not always) a AA Filter inside the OPLF.

    • @marcp.1752
      @marcp.1752 2 роки тому +1

      "the X-E2 is definetly sharp. wanna know why? The X-Trans 2 is the last sensor that does not use an antialiasing filter in front of the sensor from Fuji" totally false statement into this context - every X-Trans I to IV Sensor Generation does not use a AA Filter. Your comment implies, that X-Trans III to IV does use a AA Filter, which is _not_ the case physically. I am shooting X-trans since 2012.

    The X-E2 is my favorite camera of my three Fuji models (X100V, X-T3 and X-E2). I LOVEEE the compact size and weight of this little gem, and so far the performance as well. While it doesn't have all the programmable and other features of my other two cameras, and while I love them as well, I just seem to prefer the look and feel of the X-E2 best. And I am sooo glad both my X-T3 and X-E2 retain the DIAL on the back rather than the minimalist joy stick only as on my X100V. I briefly owned an X-Pro2 and LOVED it a lot, but it failed during an important photoshoot, requiring me to just use my phone for the rest of that shoot so I returned it to KEH and bought the NEW X-T3 for more reliability. Still, using the X-T3 with the 10-24mm lens for my real estate listing shoots feels heavy and bulky compared to using my little compact X-E2 with the Samyang 12mm lens on it. They're all great cameras, as are my other Fuji EX lenses, but so far the X-E2 remains my favorite.... [UPDATE: I snagged an excellent condition x-Pro2 body and IT is now my favorite!!!】

They also give a choice of raw file format that includes Adobe’s DNG which must be considered the standard for raw.

I just did a quick look and found an E2s for $390 and a E3 for $460. If I was in the market and condition was the same, I'd go with the E3. For JPGs XE3 as Acros is very nice. Plus you get 50% more resolution.
      I prefer the 2 (and shoot raw), because I prefer the better/bigger EVF.

      Depends how and what you shoot (if you need higher res and super fast AF - xe3. I don’t) and if you care about ergonomics and having buttons vs touchscreen (I do - so I have the xe2, tried the xe3 and quickly realised it’s not for me at all)
