How does this apartment compare to something where you live? How about the price and location. 5km from the center of Moscow. 5 minutes walk to the Metro. Let me know in the comments. I really enjoy making this type of content and showing normal life in Russia.

Compared to Sweden, an older building in that condition and location I would say it is more then half the price then in Sweden. But the rent is a bit higher than it would be in Sweden.
1 bedroom in Suburbs of lexington Kentucky is now 1,500$ a Month plus utilities and not as nice to be honest
The apartment is okay. It's probably good enough for a couple with no children. Lower price could attract a quick sale. What are the job/salary prospects in Moscow to be able to purchase the apartment?
Rooms here can be 800 to1500 dollars a month. In California
expect to pay several thousand dollars. Since my wife and I watch TV court shows this seems to the the average but the price could be lower or higher depending on your location.
Come to Sofia (Bulgaria), to compare the prices. It would be interesting for you I think.
I am Russian and I live in Russia. My salary is 700 dollars. someone will say that this is not enough. Maybe. I built myself a house of 80 square meters for 20 thousand dollars near the city. I have an inexpensive car to drive to work, but there is also a bus to the city (15 km). The bus costs 60 cents. I pay 6 cents per kilowatt for electricity. I had free heart surgery 5 years ago. Russia may not be the best country to live in, but I think it's not the worst in the world. And it's not that bad for me.
What city you built your house? 80 square meters for 20 thousand dollars is very good. I like Russia/ Russian are good people.
@ChristopherTCabaret Hello. The city of Izhevsk, the Urals.
God bless Russia.
@@СынЛеса-ю9ы Thank you
What is your job? What is the average salary in the region ?

It's interesting seeing the difference between Soviet style housing versus modern Russian housing. Love the video Russell - keep 'em coming 👍❤️
I was out and about i Moscow yesterday filming new apartment tours. Comparing different building type is very interesting.
I really like apartment tours! Thank you Russell.
I have more of them to come very soon. ))
@@TravellingwithRussell Super.. thank You! 🏠🙂
The apartment was lovely and so was the real estate lady 👍
Very impressive! Your body can withstand the harsh Russian winter, still capable of exploring comfortably on a frosty day. Moscow offers the best apartment views, just like scenes from a movie.
A fold down ramp? Brilliant! Nice apartment to be so centrally located.
It's a great location. The park near by is beautiful, even this time of year. With snow and ice skating.
Your videos are so unique and interesting! Thank you for not layering annoying music in your videos. Your videos are fine just as is.
How is Irena single, she is gorgeous 😻😂 I have the same IKEA utensil holder lol, love your channel by the way ❤
I am originally from Poland and live now in Switzerland. There are many similiar blocks in Poland and if I ever wanted to buy a property there I would buy similiar but with 2 rooms. I very much liked the place. The location is perfect for the professional, I have no car so this is perfect. The separate kitchen is the big plus. The kitchen is functional and all that is needed. The bathroom is small but has all, but I will get a curtain for the bathroom. The room with a sleeping alcove is really nice, bright and functional. This is a small, yet perfectly functional unit. The location is perfect and I can live there.
In Sweden we also say 1 room appartement. We also say 1 room and kitchen. I also have exactly the same IKEA thing. I actually like the appartement. When we live in better times again I think I want to live in Moscow for a year. I think the Russian people are great.
Welcome! Here in St. Petersburg we have the same distance to Moscow and Stockholm.
Thanks for the video I appreciate it very much
@pietervz9013 Thanks for the super sticker!!! We need to set up a new live stream I think.
@TravellingwithRussell that would be nice
Sokolniky is a very famous park not just in Moscow but in Russia. Thank you Russell for putting up with weather to show us this video. By the way, this lady said this park has a moose 😜
A moose, Now i want to go back to the park to look for one. Not sure what I would do if i saw one though.
@ you better wear a good running shoes 😜
Hi Russell ! I'm from Poland and I love watching You videos about Russian Apartments! Regards and Merry Christmas !:)
I love the apt tours......brilliant. You are so good to go out in the cold of winter.
It will stay cold like this until March now.
REALLY ENJOYED SEEING THIS!!!RUSSELL IS GOOD AT EXPLAINING THE APT!!!
THANKS NICE VIDEO, IRINA WAS VERY LOVELY AND SWEET...I LIVED 25YEARS IN MOSCOW AND NOW LIVE IN THE US. ALWAYS GOOD TO WATCH VIDEOS FROM RUSSIA
Thanks, I was thinking to add a little bit of my walk in the park from earlier in the afternoon to show it. Next time, i think.
I love apartment tours! 👌
More to come on the channel soon. I was filming 3 different ones on Sunday here in Moscow.
Loving all the videos. I am seeing Russia in a new light. What a cute and bubbly lady Irina is 🥰…
Great video Russell. Thank you for your realtor friends info.
No worries, If you contact, her tell I sent you. She can definitely help with Moscow apartments and housing.
That bed nook is so cool! I would love something like that in my home. Nice and cosy.
Try changing the sheets on a bed surrounded by 3 walls.
I too live in Russia. Live in Krasnagorsk, Moscow. English and my wife is Russian.
I always find it amazing that people in the biggest country in the world live in such small apartments. 42 Square metres seems the norm. Great video Russell because its always very interesting to see what is available at various prices.
It's odd too how people share apartments 3 people sharing 1 apartment. My son who is at University in Moscow is doing this now.
And how do people live in England in microscopic rooms and no central heating?
Don't exaggerate, please. Sure, some people live in small and even tiny flats but generally this is not the case. An average apartment here is 45 - 60 sqm, 1 to 2 bedrooms (plus separate lounge). Many people prefer to have own house, rather than appartment, although with the house prices this may remain a dream for many, especially the younger generation. As to the central heating - most houses/apartments have gas or electric heating. In more rural places you may find a cottage or a farm with alternative heating arrangements but this is not a norm. Merry Christmas! 😊@alexanderlolamax5144
@Tina-gm4uf I am just talking about what I have seen in your England, very small rooms, some much less than 12 sqm (legal min norm for one person in Russia) even in private houses, no central heating which causes condensation, damp and mold (gas and electric heating just to feel warm is not the same), very low ceilings, small thin windows blown by all winds, thin walls. But Paul must be an aristocrat with the manor, I don't know.
@alexanderlolamax5144 Genuine Q - where exactly did you see those horrors? Sure, there are well-publicised matchbox appartments in Central London which some people still buy/rent but that's not the prevailing norm. Neither are the conditions of those apartments you're describing, although this also happens. There are some dilapidated properties but I don't think you can compare those exceptions to what is typical in Russia. Besides, it's just a very different way of life that many people here are just not used to the idea of. Here, the preference is for house ownership over the apartment dwelling, although it's slowly changing due to affordability. Traditionally, kids would move out and get their own apartment relatively young (e.g. when at the uni or get their first job), although this has also been slowly changing due to sky-rocketing house prices and rents. Paul is talking about those things, so no need to raise the shackles.
@alexanderlolamax5144 P.S. One doesn't have to be an aristocrat to be surprised by the way of life which is different from what one is used to. All my friends who have families live in houses - sure, mortgaged to high heavens but that's beyond the point. I live in a 70 sqm 1bd (that is 2 rooms in Russia) apartment alone, complete with gas heating, electricity, all mod cons and beautiful views out of a bay window, I hasten to say. It could easily take a couple, but for my personal taste, any more and we would need to look for more space. It's just a different way of life.
I like this apartment!
Me too, I love the location as well. Close to everything.
Thanks Russell. Well presented. Irina is a star!
That much apartment in Moscow for that price is pretty crazy. Good deal
Beautiful snow.
In the last 3 or 4 days we have had non stop now here in Moscow.
She's beautiful 😍. The apartment is really cool 😎
She is stunning. And a really great person to chat to.
thats really neat! Looks like a nice place to live! ❤
that is a cute little apartment and Irena is adorable.
She really is. So easy to get along with and chat to. She knows her stuff when it comes to real estate.
Hi Russell , I'm a new subscriber. I like the apartment. Especially that it has air conditioning, which we have not in France. I like these types of videos showing regular life. 😊🤗
I really wish has a Russia lite visa, mainly for businessmen without families etc that just want to try before they buy (and from wealthy western countries). It would be so cool to have the ability to travel to Russia without any problems or issues.
It's a nice serviceable apartment, but no I could not live there. The location sounds great though. Thanks for the share. The agent was lovely.
I’d love to see an apartment in the garden district. That place is gorgeous.
Crazy how many ex pats live in russia. Being from the US, weve been taught that Russia is bad. Seems pretty normal, and actually pretty dang nice compared to most places here.
Russia is not evil but I would not want Putin and his cronies to be my legal system.
@JKuci well the us legal system is pretty fucked currently

She is really nice. Exactly like you see in the video, she is like that in person. So positive.
I really liked your video Russell! These apartment tours are very interesting.
Thanks, lots more to come.
my car insurance is 50 € a month! you have cheap insurance.
Thank you russel
To live normally in Moscow, you need to have $1,000 per person in a family. If a person is single, then you need more, maybe $1,200-1,300. But this is a modest life without excesses. If you correspond to the middle class, then you need $2,000 or more. Yes, in Russia the salary is lower than in the EU or the USA, but taxes are lower, housing and utilities costs are lower, prices are low, transport is cheap, etc. As a result, purchasing power is approximately parity.
That seems excessive. Are you saying to live a middle class life in Moscow a family with 2 children needs to make $8K USD per month? What sorts of jobs are paying that much? The median household income in the US is 25% lower than that.
@@davidthoreau6353 I think he meant 2000 per family. That would be somewhere in the middle-lower range. $3000, I think, would be normal middle class.

A lovely, functional apartment, just started watching your videos 👍
I love this! I like it much more than the business class apartment you showed us. It's much roomier and half the price. Love the apartment videos Russell!
Hey thanks Russell for the tour, the best part is irena😊 she gorgeous. Too cold there for me!
She is amazing, i totally agree.
You're always excited 😊
Interesting tour of the apartment
Good video
Cheers!! ))
Thank you it was a great video 🤗 she was a lovely realtor and very pretty too!
Hi Russell, new subscriber here. The apartment looks so nice and cozy. Irina is beautiful and seems like she has a great personality. Thank you all the information ans apartment tour.
With some different decor and furniture, that apartment could be a really cozy little haven. 😊
Apt looks cozy . I like the washing machine in the bathroom.
Agreed. Will also keep the noise out of the living area.
Apparently the house was built before the mass appearance of automatic washing machines. Therefore, the bathroom is not designed for installation of a washing machine and is now quite cramped. To fit everything, they installed a narrow washing machine with vertical loading and a small sink.
You're getting hammered on this one Russ!
It seems so. Not sure yet. Maybe I should have got Irina to make the video.
@@TravellingwithRussellI think it's more the subject matter
$480 per month is unheard of in the US! Apartments are almost ALL over $1,000 per month. Again, L love your apartment videos.
Irina seems very nice and bubbly. She would be a very good person to know in Moscow to help with apartments. Great job both of you.
I think the sales price is outrageous for that tiny place. Where I live in the US in the midwest I could buy a small 2 bedroom house for that.
An interview with this young lady about how real estate descriptions differ process of purchasing and if they have lending institutions in Russia. Etc would be interesting
Of course. We can discuss it.
Mortgages are very expensive now. But people buy it. Now it costs 24% per year 🙈
Very vibey video, I liked it
That girl was very bubbly x
Irina is amazing. So bubbly and friendly.
Russell can you talk about what the cost of utilities would be? How about a monthly food cost? It seems their food prices are very reasonable. Could someone retire to Russia? Is there good healthcare?
Another great video, so informative.
Thank you for sharing 😀👍
Irena is great! It's not a bad little apartment
Very nice apartment. Thank you 🙏
Your welcome.
Really nice thank you
Your welcome 😊 It was a fun video to put together. Irina is so nice to give me a chance to visit some of her apartments.
Not a bad price for the neighborhood, I loved the park as a kid I wasn’t born too far from sokolniky. Couldn’t buy a studio in a ran down building in Brooklyn for the price.
Какая классная симпатичная и веселая девушка!
Perfect!!!
13:18 it means a moose, awesome video as always Rusell !
❤😂 thanks it is true
She is a lot of fun.
It's deer roaming around in Sokolniki Park Russell. I don't speak Russian, but the antlers 🫎 gave it away!
it's actually elk, лось means elk but it's almost the same thing haha
@@gwendoline785 regardless, it definitely ain't Russell's rabbit. LOL Frankly, I'd be surprised if it's elk in a city park, they're bigger more aggressive animals than deer. Then again, Russians have been known to keep bears as pets so there is that.
I looked up “лось в парке сокольники” here and the video was of what we call “moose” in America.
@@annaleeblysse I can guarantee they don't have moose roaming freely in that park. That would be really dangerous. My sense is that the real estate agent wasn't really sure what the correct name was and just blurted out "moose" or perhaps the same word is used for both animals in Russian.
I thought it was a moose but I don't think Russia has them. Some people like to get close to them but they look terrifyingly large and then there's the antlers.
gosh, i remember those winters growing up in Germany too. and days where the sun doesn't really want to come out to play.
And then today, as i type this, blue skies and very cold in Moscow. -15c.
Very nice- I could live happily in a place like that.
I am comparing this to my country - Romania - and the prices are quite similar. Maybe even bigger, considering it's just a 1 bedroom. I was expecting Russia to be cheaper, for some reason. I do believe groceries and utilities cost less than in Europe, though. I own and don't rent but if I were to rent, I'd probably pay around 200 euros for a 1 or 2 room apartment in my city with 50k inhabitants. What is the typical Russian income?
You forgot to mention the ridiculously high interest rates on real estate currently in Russia. Somewhere in 25% to 27% range 😳
People still pay cash for properties here. Someone will buy this as a rental property.
Для вашего сведения мы вообще без ипотеки покупали квартиры и в это время я выплатила свою квартиру 70 метров из бетона и кирпича за 1 год. А с ипотеками срок увеличился до 30 лет.
very interesting Russell
I own a bunch of rentals in Pennsylvania. To buy that and rent it would be a waste of time. You just can't get the return you need, at those prices. And this would be a small apartment in my area. I would have a hard time renting it.
You’ll be lucky in the Washington DC area to find apartment going around $1300 or $2000 a month
great kitchen, sounds to cold in russia for me, thank you
You do get used to it. And you dress for the weather as well.
Cool place.
It was! The location of it was fantastic.
Beautiful apartment, so cheap!!. I can't wait to buy an apartment in Moscow. Beautiful suburb too
For this listing, i have a link to the listing. Irina is the agent selling it. She is also a good friend as well.
@TravellingwithRussell thanks mate, much appreciated
За такую будку это очень дорого
Ирина, вы красотка 😍
This would be a studio apartment here in Canada. Because it doesn't have a bedroom. But normally a studio doesnt have divided rooms except the bathroom.
If there is a forest/large forest park, then there are deer.
I live in the east end of Montreal, Canada. We have lots of deer and other wildlife.
And yes, in Canada we also have both lots of snow and cold. And like in Moscow, night are very long during the winter.
Completely agree with you, I also live in the east of Montreal ❤
I love Sheridan's. I used to drink it quite often. I like the apartment also. Looks cozy.
As a single person this would be perfect.
Season's greetings Russell. God bless.
A hundred times better than living in a car in a Walmart parking lot...ha ha ha...
This appears to rent for the same as the brand new apartment you showed a few days ago, but I would much rather live in this one. I think it's much better designed with the bedroom nook allowing a nice living room area, whereas the new apartment had none.
Love the apartment.. would be awesome if you showed us the park nearby... xx
It’s beautiful there 😊
She meant there are moose in the park. Which is really interesting.
I was walking there in the park before we met up. I would run in the other direction I saw one. I was over there watching people ice skating.
Moose...Rabbits?😂😂😂 Squirrels?😂😂😂 2 funny..Very cute....My bet was on deer😊
@@als4387 mine too, but she said "лось" - so - moose :)
Thank you Russell..Love Russia and Love your videos TOO ❤️🇮🇳❤️
Thanks for watching!!!
I want to move to Moscow but currently unable to sell my house in UK. When i do i will definitely give ирина a call. And yes she is very attractive and I too am single! When i come i will want to buy a larger apartment for me and my dogs close to the park and two one room apartments for income.
May your dreams come true.
I'd suggest apartment tours around the Avi-Park shopping center. They appear to be newer (and more supply that is available for rent/sale (more videos)).
I would prefer this apartment to one of the micro districts. I would like a higher floor. They did do nice upgrades to the kitchen/bathroom. The location would be more convenient for you Russell. Step out of the apartment and go right to work ad you do so many downtown videos.
Pretty real estate agent
I completely agree.
❤
Irina such a beautiful lady. 😍
Average one bedroom apartment in australia is 50 square m. Looks very squashed to me. But i live in a house.
I love it! It has everything you need if you don't have too much stuff, lol.
Russian apartments do not normally have a living room as such. People entertain guests in the kitchen, which happens even in Western culture (kitchen is the heart of a home!).
If more floor space is required in the bedroom, rather than a bed sofa, a "Murphy bed" could be an ideal option. Used to be that these space saving beds fold up against the wall, sometimes with false decorative doors when it is vertical to make it appear like a storage unit.
Now, there are a variety of options, some folding out from a cabinet, which looks like a piece of furniture. Some have built in lights & USB sockets and swing out night stands.
Russian apartments do have living rooms...
There is no way I could live in that apt. without major renovations. There just isn’t even enough room for me. The thought of having to climb all of these stairs, should the lift not work, would be too hard. These soulless high rises from the Soviet era are just so ugly. Love your videos Russell, and Irina is lovely.
I think she was talking about deer.
Yes, she sure was 🙂
No, she talked about mooses you can see at the Sokolniki natural park.
@KimClark61 Maybe both Moose and Deer are in the park.
I also guess rain deer if not squirrels.
@@yurikolesnikov2731 Of course I think you're right, just like here in Canada. Winters are very similar as Russian winters and we have lots of deer and Moose. Moose can be quite aggressive and incredibly strong. Like Russell, I would turn and run if I came across one lol
