Thanks HBB!
@@MichaelBruceTaos Nah, you the man bro. Good ears you got. I hear it too📢
The downfalls of only looking at graphs without listening to the final product. Glad you went into it and didn't pass as it was a pretty informative vid.
Thanks. I gotta do all the vids and not just the good ones. More learning in the fails (like life)
I've worked in music for many years. I am even a one hit wonder - but my days as an artist were cut short by a physical disability. The point is, just shy of a few months of 25 years of working in what I love - I have absolutely zero idea nor interest in reading a graph. I can EQ a serious nightclub or DJ mixer (that's v v easy)... I am in no way an 'audiophile' because it seems for these people that equipment is the hobby before music. Isn't that like being into football, but you're more into boots & shin pads than the game? Music is the hobby & HBB is one of the few known guys to actually put significant emphasis on music. I don't want to sound mean, but I find it enormously difficulty to take anyone seriously about sound if they primarily listen to K Pop & aren't really music guys. Excuse my digression!
@@BadGuyGoodAudioReviewsso true brother. I hope manufacturers will learn that it's becoming increasingly harder to pull the wool over consumers eyes these days.
Having said that, I was contemplating the DZ4 but after your and Michael Bruce's initial reviews, I've decided to save up until someone actually produces an iem with an actual functioning passive radiator.
Also, congrats on the 50k Chris.
Damn I learn so much watching your stuff…. TY
I admit to being a long time, non-participant in your content. I'm old and don't participate in social media. This video was incredibly informative. I've had a rudimentary understanding of passive radiators but your presentation is a next level education. Thank you!
These videos on drivers and tech are always super interesting! Lots of IEM little information on them (other than marketing).
Thanks./ I enjoy these. People can argue about preferences till the sun rises...endless. This kinda broken theory is much less open to interpretation. You don't add distortion to audio for no good reason.
Really big fan of this kind of informative video. First time hearing about most of the topics you went through, and the explanations were really clear. Good stuff.
That's exactly why I follow you. Giving feedback to improve flaws and get a set to a good enjoyable experience
That's how all reviews should be done 👌🏿
Congratulations on getting to 50k subscribers. This channel rocks.
Wow, thanks Chris for the video. Stuffs like this is right within my budget and could make it to the Xmas shopping list, so I’m glad you made this.
While criticism can be tough to swallow, true engineers would welcome it (of course, not sure if actual engineers were involved in this).
Like you said in a prior video, some say, some company is going to do passive rads right and usher in a new era for bass on IEMs
Interesting education about the drivers! thanks for not skipping this one.
Always learning something new in this channel 😂. Really like this kind of videos.
Can't wait to see more vids in this series🤩,keep up the amazing work
I bought the EW200 I'm really pleased with it love the set ❤️ now I understand what HBB was talking about 😎😎🔥🔥
I think it’s important to go against the grain every now and again and that’s exactly why I subbed to your channel years ago. You’re not the typical audio reviewer and I know I know, dad life got you softer than before 😉 but these videos are so necessary. Thanks for the vid, Chris
Bringing the science on the passive radiator, thanks HBB
When I started in the hobby and felt like too many drivers didn’t do anything sometimes, this comes to mind with you just add “drivers” to make it work
Engineer wanted to have fun and forgot to listen to music...apparently?
Yep. Just adding more specs doesn't make the tech better.
This is one of those things that make you ask "What the heck" were they thinking?
It's pretty obvious the designers of this set have no real idea how PR Tech was designed to function or how it's properly used.
Great info as always.
Thank you and God Bless...
Grats on the 50k! Speaking of Michael Bruce, looking forward to when the Glamdring hits the review, they sound like the real deal.
Intriguing video! I heard the issue of the driver in a discord channel. So I was expecting this video to be coming soon. I would like to see more video like this.
Will be doing a "WTF Happened" series like Top 5's and No earphones left behind
@@BadGuyGoodAudioReviews Awesome!
These companies should have some kind of test tracks and not just measurements, thank you for the informative video. Grats on 50k
A really good example of why properly understanding speaker design can help make your iem designs better
When I watched Micheal's video, I instantly wondered what you'd have to say on these, so I'm glad you made this video.
Dang, found these iems interesting, this video stopped me from making a purchasing mistake. I don't want open them up and seal them. Also congrats on 50k.
Man that letshuoer 's shell is even reminiscent of another brand that actually made another big mistake with drivers a while ago, yeah that brand starting with letter K, ending with Z. I didn´t think this brand would fall into such mistakes, but well this is the range of chifi produce, the other end of this range is also shown in this same video: exclusive releases for China market only, like this Aful model. Lots of brands release china-specific models, which I don´t get, unless the rest of the world's eardrums are tuned different. Thanks for video, it will be so useful for lots of people.
Passive radiator explanation was clear and straight to the point, Chris is such a blessing to this hobby
Snake oil!!
It's funny I have an invested in the kinda of lava from letshuoer and is one of two of my best sets.
I can't believe a company that would make such a great set makes something like this - keep it up
Glad you decided to make a video on this issue, this only illustrates why graphs are not the end-all
Thank you for explaining the workings of passive drivers. Something to avoid.
Saw the teardown video. Looks like an interesting and well made set, but if it doesn’t sound good it doesn’t sound good
You may joke about it, but the overlay graph really helps with understanding everything you talk about
Thanks for your Review! Truly appreciate how you educate and explain Audio stuff to us in an easy understandable way while also making it interesting to Listen to.
Agreed. I don't know much about audio at all but I really enjoy listening to his content.
I'll stick with the Galileo but interesting video, thanks! Oh and huge gratz on the 50k.
Many other iem maker should be paying their attention to this video. A very interesting take on the basic working fundamentals of how drivers and their installation/position inside the iem affects the overall audio performance. Thanks Chris for this great video 👍🏽
Yeah!! Guess DZ4 definitely not for me… But i am really curious and would love to ear some of those Aful sets… the feedback seems positive from everyone
I was curious about this set as it look promising with the different drivers like the quintet but at half the price. But no bueno lol. Quintet still on my top to get. Thanks for the video !!
I love how "technical" You get talking about different aspects of IEM's.Congrats on hitting the 50 K
You always get a genuine review from hbb. Congratulations on 50k🎉
Thanks for including other channels info and giving the information on this set that you did. Glad you chose to do a video on this.
I literally watched Micheal Bruce video on this iem yesterday. Hes a DIY modder, similar "johnrahs" lol. Respect to him.
best iem breakdown on the internet. you rock chris!
Ooh.. so still no proper implementation of the passive radiator in IEMs. Considering consumer speakers have been using it. On another topic, why can't AFUL just release the same models internationally? Anyway, 50K!🎉 Congrats man!
Very informative video by far my favorite series which I will look forward to
It's excellent that you spend a bit of time explaining the science behind some of this tech. Really helps in understanding how that impacts your music. Thanks Chris.
Wow, that's simply mind boggling, man. It's like they went out of their way to mess it up. Even if they had no idea what they were doing whatsoever it had to take some real bad luck to come up with such a bad design.
Honestly, I'm quite bewildered. Wasn't expecting that from LetShuoer. They've never seemed to be extremely proficient in what they're doing, even despite having produced a good amount of earsets that were quite good. There was always some shortfalls or "quirks" to put it mildly, a certain lack of refinement dare I say. I've always felt like it wasn't due to deliberate tuning choices as much as some, less than obvious maybe, little mistakes/shortsightings. But this is on another level. I hope they will be highly incentivized to up their R&D game after this and grow further. They've got some talent in their team, that's for sure.
Thank you for this video and, again, for giving a shout-out to Michael. He's a low-profile blessing in itself for this community, one of it's hidden treasures.
On a somewhat same note, I can't help but find it strange that you've only recently hit 50k subscribers. This has become my favorite audio channel in the recent years, closely followed by Super Review. Have you lost your channel/subscribers for some reason at some point and had to accumulate them anew, by any chance? My memory may be missing something.
I was actually kinda interested in this iem but i dont think im gonna spend 80 bucks to have to diy fix the iem myself.
Thanks for this video, that was really helpful and also a little unfortunate to hear
Very good explanatory video, Chris!
So glad I decided to bought Kailua over DZ4. I love it! Even all of my friends impressed by it👏
Congrats on the 50k, man. Well deserved! 👏👏
I'm glad you did a review on DZ4 as I've seen so many posts hyping them up...
Thanks for the amazing explanation,I guess people are just stuffing drivers without thinking what they are doing ,and people get fooled by the amount of drivers
Fantastic video - when I hear of the layout of this IEM i'd gotten excited, but when I saw how it was laid out I decided to skip out on it. Great to see someone who actually has the unit pull it apart and show the issue!
I really appreciated the detailed explanation. As someone who has dealt with a lot of car audio tuning and all the resonance / radiator issues in a system, its cool to hear it explained relative to an iem. Well done.
interesting series, looking forward to the next WTF episode
still waiting on my kailua to arrive, should be here by the end of the month, hopefully earlier!
I was looking for this review but before coming here i already watched the tear down. Man Letshuoer getting blind with freq graph. Great explanation Chris.
Nice information about the passive radiator... 👍
This video is great. It's clear, constructive criticism for a manufacturer, while also serving as an informative consumer warning, and a DIY guide for those that got burned purchasing a product with a terrible design.
Great PSA for consumers and engineers in the industry. Glad to see you taking the time out to explain why a design is poor.
Good review. I chatted with michel Bruce many times. We have many things in common when comes to tuning and adjusting. Great person..
Congrats on hitting 50k 🎉
Great dive into the inner mechanisms on the IEM.
Learning more than I expected every time I hit on yours vids. Cheers
This video is very informative and it's fun to understand how all the pieces and parts of IEMs work.
Love Shortbus and Hifri ! Always very informative.
please continue your good work reviewing lots of interesting sets
Thank you very much for the explanation!! And congrats on the 50k!!!!!
1. Flip the cable polarity to make the drivers inverted and play the sound inside the shell and block the tubes.
2. Seal the back of the plate to make it a closed chamber.
3. Voila - we got a world's first passive radiator only IEM.
ngl i think this should blow up on the level of the kz fake driver shenanigans, they're adding something useless and you're paying for it, to end up with a worse product.
also omg yes i want a much more technical series like this, its great
People love to hate on KZ (cuz KZ makes that easy) folks don't wanna smear on letshuoer cuz of self interests. It's the hobby unfortunately.
Great vid. A lot of info and insight.
Graphs don't tell the whole story.
Good vid also for people that already bought the set, have the skill to fix it themselves instead of having to return the set.
Thanks for your effort to educate and inform us.
These companies should listen to their product before they roll it out for sale. Good thing there are reviewers like you that provide a fix.
There are too many other choices available to ever need to modify one. This is why I watch yours and others' reviews before I buy.
Love the deep tech dive on this one. Makes perfect sense.
Funny how many of us involved in audio are visual.
Thank you for the insight and information.
It just got a whole bunch better 😅
Congrats on 50k!
Your explanations of how the technology works sometimes is more entertaining than the reviews of some sets.....😅 Thanks!
The Band 8 looks amazing! Also be interested in hearing in depth comments on modding... though perhaps that is Michael Bruce's mojo.
Very informative video. Congratulations on 50k subs and get well soon! 🙏💪
Wow, that Band8 looks awesome. Interesting video. Thank you HBB 🙏🎻
Oh! What a strange design by LetShuoer. Using PR with an open back... Excellent information! Meanwhile, Aful is doing well!
Thanks for the video! I was about to buy this set because my Hexas have some issues with drivers dropping out from time to time. Dodged a bullet 🤙🏻
Enjoying the series, can't wait for the next part
Just the thought of passive radiators working at such a small scale got me hooked since the start. Great breakdown of this set fam
That’s mind blowing.😂 An audio company not knowing what they are doing.
It's mind-blowing that an IEM brand that makes audio equipment doesn't know how to use a passive radiator. It's not rocket science. I hope some of the manufacturers will get it right one day.
It's amazing how I almost always learn something new by watching your reviews. Thanks!
Great video, as always. Congrats on reaching 50k!
Thanks Chris for the review and also for the chance to win! You are a legend!
Way to go LETSHOUER! Everyone in the IEM hobby should have done a tour in Car Audio. Shit just made sense.
Congrats on 50k! Appreciate the concise explanation of passive radiators which I hadn’t heard much about until your videos.
Great video of a DIY fix to save an IEM. Thanks again HBB!
Could of sworn you are saying bandaid pro lol I wasn't even aware this model was an option. Pretty cool
I was in the market for a sub-$100 IEM and this was one on my list. I'm glad I watched this video before making the purchase.
Thanks for keeping a eye out and testing hyped projects!
thanks for the info hbb and also to sir michael bruce! saw a week ago sir michael's post about this pr of dz4 on chifi grps. glad theres more follow up on this topic. very informative.
Cool to see that macro shot! As always great review ✌Also, grats on 50k!
genuinely very interesting video. wouldnt have expected this from letshouer
Sheeeeshh cool insight on that iem and thanks for the warning on those, congratulations on the subs!!, Waiting for the next part
Never even heard of the aful band, interesting. Also, there is some really cool technical stuff in this video, keep it up
Nice sound visualization!!
P.S : i love your heyday
The Young Frankenstein thumbnail is a great touch for a series concept like this. This is like a DIY kit for people in the hobby. You can get this and then modify it yourself and make it the way it should have been. This is not a very good looking set imo. Or not compelling to me, personally. Micro DD is usually lackluster. Congratulations on 50k! That's an awesome milestone.
I wouldn't mind modiftying something that is good out of the box, can't say I would buy something that is trash without modifying. This video is cool asf.
I expected some awesome music out of this iem looks like letshouer drop a ball on this one
I held up on this one because of your last video than mentions it. Now I can visualize what’s wrong with the setup. Disappointing, but they can only improve from here.
They or others will do it right. I read their promo stuff. They didn't make any bold claims about the driver. Which is good.
