Once I had indulged in a few bevvies they were very comfortable. However when the backpacker who forgot to bath for a while decided to sit up and read in the middle of the night and pulled the wrong lever and instead my seat went bolt upright things got a bit testy especially when his parentage was called into question. In saying that I did see some backpackers sleeping on the floor at the rear of the room and they looked quite happy. Even though these recliners are a budget model they are definitely not designed for anyone over 5 foot 6 inch high.
i think when spending 10 hours overnight in this you want to spend a bit more and be comfortable, go for a cabin. hopefully the new ships will be better. daytime just walk around freely.
I have travel a lot on Japanese ferry and the cheapest sleeping arrangement is a extra $10 is in a tennis court size room where you sleep on the floor in a mark out spot with a head cabinet, on a thin mattress, pillow and blanket which are clean after every use. I am use to sleeping on the floor because that how it done in Japan. You sleep with mostly with truck drivers. There is one for men and another for women..They also have a range of other cabins to choose from. Also the ferrys have a onsen which to do your bathing which I am also use to . What you just show me is terrible, awful to put it blunt. No way I could be comfortable sleeping in a chair which has really never be cleaned. I can just imagine all the built up sweat and grim. This ferry company should really check out how it done properly and cheaper and cleaner. This ferry company have the attitude of this is how it always been done and on one complains. I assume the night ferry runs at a lost.
These seats are beyond awful.Even when you try to lie on the floor they come round and make you get up.Worst night ever.People coming and going all night and letting the door bang.Hang onto valuables as they will be stolen. If full you hav strangers next to you!
Looks like rubbish. I’ve had over fourth years experience on Bass Strait ferry’s and they are a pain to travel on from start to finish and too damned expensive. It’s better to fly.
No thought went into these recliners.

And this is why I always have a cabin day or night sailing
Always always pay extra for a cabin. The seats and the movements of others are sure recipe for sleeplessness.

These recliners are nothing short of the worst designed seats in the entire world, never again,it was like being stuck in a medieval rack!
Omg. That's horrible...
