My name is Eric and I travel with my cats, “Jax” & “Tara” in a 1997 Ford Coachmen M19RB Class B Campervan Motorhome (Triton V8) We travel about 35 miles a day chasing 70 degrees year-round since 2010.

Ron Howard, the two-time Oscar winning director, played "Opie" on the Emmy award winning series "The Andy Griffith Show". Opie was a carrot top (he has since lost most of his hair) and was the cutest kid actor, ever. It's highly appropriate that your new kitten be named "Opie" with that beautiful colored fur. Looks like he has a lot of affection to share. Congrats. (:

Honey, you're not replacing Jax. You need to have babies around you to take care of. I'm the same way with my kitties. I'm glad you have Tara and Opie. I think all of you are precious
Congratulations, Eric! Opie is adorable! Never saw the Anarchy tv show. I thought “Opie” because of his red head like Opie on the old Andy Griffith show. Difference in generations, I guess! Glad you rescued! I used to capture, hand tame, and get spayed/neuter feral cats on my rural property. I adopted out the ones that were successfully socialized and re-released the others to be barn cats.
I have watched SOA, but my first thought was also Opie from Andy Griffith because of the red hair. Perhaps we’re in the same generation. 😂

I loved SOA and I highly recommend it! We actually have pets named after characters from the show as well - we have a Bulldog named Tig and a little mutt named Gemma.

You should always have two cats so that they have each other when you're not around - and, so that they have someone else just like them. I'm so glad you did this!

I'm not disagreeing but our cat hasn't been the same since we introduced another cat in our home. I believe it's because we brought in another similarly aged male cat. I had read it is better to pair male and female cats or older cats with younger cats.
It depends on the cat, same with dogs. Some want to be the only pet.
My cat grew up with many cats and was happy. When I moved ( others died, mom wanted to one) it turned out she just wanted to be with me
@@shac9131 Yes, I think their age determines a lot too as well as personality. I have two cats now. I rescued them at same age from a parking lot but different mothers. One gets along well with other cat's and dogs too even new ones..the other hates all other animals. Just likes people. Only one he "tolerates" is my other cat and even still sometimes picks fights.

Yeah, I'm cat personality expert since my 1st cat was the neighborhood whore and kept getting pregnant while nursing, and a handful of other litters from kittens I kept
There's all different kinds of cat personalities.
My dog doesn't like dogs but she loves cats. Once I'm settled in not living on the road I may adopt a kitten for her. I swear my dog was a cat in another life .

I saw the video of you losing Jax and how heart broken you were. I cried along with you. Now comes along Opie and he steals your heart. Opie will never replace Jax, but will full fill that emptiness you were so needing. Let him fill that void and love him with all your heart, but don't forget Tara (sp). God Bless.

I once (many years ago) had a cat named Nero. This was well before SOA, but it goes with the theme of cats with SOA character names.
Opie is the cutest little thing! There’s an opinion that orange male cats are the most affectionate. Looks like Opie helps prove this theory! 😍
In my experience, male cats in general tend to be more affect than females, but in senior years the females catch up.

I am so happy you got Tara a partner. I have always felt that one cat will get lonely, so they need a partner in crime to play with, sleep and just cuddle together. Keep each other happy. Has the kitty knocked the Christmas tree down yet. Yes, Opie is a sweet boy and glad you got Tara some company. And you got a cat to love on. I have one that is very independent and a few scratches is usually all I can get in. And she is off into her own world.
No one can take the place of another. They bring their own charms to the table.
We lost our beloved Bubba in February and it just devastated us! I still can’t talk about him without tears. We just miss him sooo much!
Our son bought us a 10 week old Yorkie pup and what a joy she has been! She brought new energy and laughter into our lives that was so needed! Do we still miss Bubba? You bet we do, we always will, but little Bindi has added a new happiness and laughter again that left when Bubba did.
You did the right thing by getting Opie and it shows! May you enjoy your new baby as much as we are enjoying ours. I am 100% sure that Jax and Bubba are watching over us and giving us both a “ paws up”!

Congratulations! Opie is adorable! As borne Tara & Opie grow together, they will become closer. Tara is at the age where she may mother him a lot. Have you ever thought about keeping Jax’s meow, but also add Tara & Opie’s to the intro. Don’t remove Jax entirely because he is part of the beginning of your adventures & was the star of the show.

The nice thing about bringing a kitten home is that Tara will mother him. We never replace our pets, we just open our hearts to new ones.😻😻😻

When I lost my fur baby (cat) in 2018 (almost 2 months after losing my mother) I wasn't sure about when a new pet would come along. After a month or two, I put out the word but wasn't rushing the process because I was still figuring it all out. A friend understood what I was through and said, "The universe works with you and supports you in this time. But so does your pet that passed. From the other side, the previous pet works with the universe to find you the right pet .... the pet for you. Who would know better than who to bring into your life? So when the time is right, they bring in the perfect fit." Well, it looks like the universe and Jax, knew exactly what you needed! Here's to a long, happy, fun, and adventurous life with Opie and Terra!

so happy for you Eric, we chatted with Jacob the Carpetbagger, at the end of his meetup in the smokies, a few weeks ago and he mentioned how sad it was you had lost Jax, we agreed, so this is great to see you have a new kitten to love and cuddle with, since Tara is not as open to cuddles like Jax was, wouldn't surprise me if Tara starts to come closer to you for cuddles with Opie showing her it's fun

When I 1st moved to the Austin area we used to foster Kittens for the Austin Humane Society till they were socialized and about 12 weeks old. Opie definitely has a kitty voice. 😽 Clearly Tara and Opie are going to be BFFs ! ! 💖💕

Opie is such a beautiful baby boy, he will bring you lots of joy. I am glad that you didn't wait too long to add him to your furry family. It looks like he has a very loving personality and will be a very loving fur baby. Don't start them off with 2 litter boxes, I have 3 cats and they all use the same litter box, no problem, just clean it every day. I have had multiple cats all my life and never had more than 1 box.

I think it’s best to have more than one kitty (or doggie). Company of the other is so beneficial, especially if you’re gone for the day. It will be interesting to see how their grooming tendencies evolve. When my girls (Abby & Tigerlily) we’re with me, Abby was usually the receiver and Lily the giver; whether she wanted to be or not.
This melted my heart. I miss Jax. He was as part of the channel as yourself Eric and seeing him cross the rainbow bridge broke me. Tara is a specal lady and it looks like Opie is going to fit in amazingly.

Some people feel guilty about getting another pet after one passes away but I think the best way to honor the memory of a beloved pet is to rescue another cat, kitten, puppy or dog and give it a great home. It certainly helps the human heal their broken heart and Jax would not want you to suffer. Congratulations, you have 2 great cats to share your new adventures.

I mourn so deeply that I couldn’t adopt another cat a month after losing one; but of course, I totally understand that we each have to do what we need to do for our own emotional health! Best of luck to you with your kitties!
I noticed Opie’s third eyelids are visible in closer shots, similar to a kitten I had adopted years ago. She passed at age 2, just six months after being diagnosed with feline leukemia. I’m sure you know what’s best; but please consider getting Opie (& Tara) tested for FELV & FIP, if it wasn’t done at the shelter for Opie. ❤️🐈

Possibly Tara was a feral kitten that was brought to a shelter for socializing and later adoption. Opie is adorable and quite vocal; luv the pure delight in his purring adorations. Hopefully his presence will bring comfort to Tara as well as a delightful playmate. 🐈

This is great, I had a cat a long time ago that looked so much like Opie and she was a sweet little cuddler too. I think all pet owners know there is no replacing a pet we lost you just open your heart and create a new place for another animal to love! Tara is the independent type so finding a cuddler to bring into the mix is perfect he will give you the cuddles you need and allow Tara to be herself. They are already best friends it is clear he was the ONE :-)

When we bring a new pet home after another pet's passing, it only means our heart grew a bit larger. Never a replacement. Looks like Tara 's heart is a bit larger too. Opie couldn't possibly be any cuter.
