Thanks for the vid. Caught mine recently on my '14 Stingray M7 ... only 13k miles ... noted oily gunk all over the lower cross member. Sucks that GM hasn't even updated this part in 7yrs, so I'm replacing junk with junk. Did you use any thread locker or torque the bolts to a certain point when you mounted the new one? From what I can tell, the leak is at the rubber boot, which probably has deteriorated enough over time to loosen up or crack, and leak ... just an uneducated guess until I pull it off for closer inspection.
I believe we just hand torqued them down from what I remember, my friend is a mechanic and he did that part for me lol, yeah that rubber boot will get shot and then that's it for the part
Mine is making a chitrering noise at 11k miles but just bought my 2015 c7 a month ago. With that mileage i assume it just sat alot so the rubber wore out. I assume since no actual hydraulics exist the oil acts as a dampener? Odd design. Jeep does this too. Otherwise solid car
@@jaycavazos8277 started at the tensioner and replaced it, but I still had oil weeping out from the front main seal. Replaced it with an LS3 seal and also put a breather on. I've been told that boosted LT1s should have a catch can/breather to help reduce crankcase pressure which leads to failed seals, and if your seal is bad, upgrade to the LS3 version.
Best video I've ever seen.
Lol

Was this gunk oil? Or another liquid?
Some people tell me it’s front main seal and other tell me it’s the tensioner
