Mute Groups and DCA’s were at the top of my wish list, but I wasn’t expecting to have both of them this year already. I’m impressed! Well done to the CQ team.
Thank you Allen & Heath for this awesome update. I just picked up a CQ-18T & did my first event a few weeks ago & everything was easy to learn & the gig went flawlessly.

Great Update. I just wish the source point for the outputs could be chosen even before any processing. I usually route the unprocessed signal to another input, in order to provide a in-ear eq signal just for my own voice. so i can compensate the occlusion effekt. Even better (and easier) would be to link two inputs and allow them both independent processing. Hopefully this will be implemented in future. No big deal actually... Anyway, great job so far 👍
Would love an oscillator/sine wave generator to side gate off your kick or snare channel give a them more oomph at a certain selectable frequency if at all possible.
Thanks for the comment. Please be sure to submit any feature requests via the CQ forum. community.allen-heath.com/forums/forum/cq/cq-feature-suggestions Thanks, Luke
Also it would be great to have a virtual 7 and 8 out bus which can be assignable to the alt an and b outputs so that we can have individual stereo iems for four band members not just three.
Thanks for the comment. Please be sure to submit any feature requests via the CQ forum. community.allen-heath.com/forums/forum/cq/cq-feature-suggestions Thanks, Luke
Is there a way to have the ability to split the bluetooth input into 2 mono channels? Having the bluetooth feature is great for linking a phone while not having to use another XLR or TRS input, but it would be awesome if you could run click and tracks through the bluetooth channel and have the ability to separate control of the left (click) and right (tracks).
The Bluetooth input is fixed to the dedicated Bluetooth channel. For what you propose you would need to route the BT channel to a stereo Aux out, then loop back to the two mono channels. Alternatively, you could connect hardware wired to the USB B with a phone or computer and simply route to two mono channels form USB. Thanks, Luke
Great update ! Looks like it’s now possible to switch back and forth between this app and another without logging out ! Just tried it yesterday. Not sure if you guys added some features to manage backing tracks - sending the L and R of the Bluetooth or of the SD card reader to an output of choice ?
@AllenHeath: thanks for the update that now supports dca and mute groups. Works great so far, but: when i have a dca configured and let it show in the custom fader view, i don't see any level on the dca fader. But when i lower the volume of the dca fader for example, the assigned channels get lower in volume, so in principle the dca's working. Is that a bug or a feature? Thanks in advance for a response and cheers from Germany. 😊
Hi, That is correct. The DCA is not an output bus, therefore, there is no summation or metering on the DCA itself. For metering, please refer to the main LR meter for the assigned input channels and the respective outputs bus meter of the assigned outputs. Many thanks, Luke
Hello, You should have no problems! Please have a look at the following article for your reference: support.allen-heath.com/hc/en-gb/articles/20018693934481-CQ-How-to-choose-which-SD-card-to-use-with-CQ-consoles Thank you, Rafael
Hi, I tried using the cq18t as an audio interface for online practice on Jacktrip. It can send my audio signal to others online but I am not getting a return signal from online bandmates. Not sure why I can not hear outside signals even though the level bar on the software is present. Can you help me with this?
It could be that the internet app you are using has basic routing options. If this is the case, please ensure to run the CQ in stereo mode. This is actioned under Config>USB/SD 'stream mode'. The upstream, by default will be the LR on 24/24 the return will then be on the dedicated USB channel. If you are still having issues, pleased drop us a line. support@allen-heath.com Thanks, Luke
I like these mixers a lot and this is a great update. Do you think it would be possible to add a couple more EQ bands for each channel and also allow a greater range of cut and boost? Maybe 25db+/-
With CQ you can run the Aux buses post-fade, set all faders to unity, and then assign a DCA to both the main LR and aux bus master faders. The main mix faders then control the mix for both LR & the Aux. The DCA then controls the overall level of bot outputs Thanks, Luke
Hi, Thanks for the message, Please be sure to submit any feature request to the CQ forum. community.allen-heath.com/forums/forum/cq/cq-feature-suggestions Thanks, Luke
I just bought a cq-18t. I have an ef note e-drum which has a micro usb with 8 audio out and I connect it to the ca-18t through the usb A. Is doesn’t seem to recognize the input coming from my edrum. Is there something I am doing wrong? Does it have to be connected to usb b of the cqt-18?
Hi, Thanks for the message, The CQ does not offer matrices. For sub a sub-feed, you could set up an Aux to run post fade, with all Aux input faders to unity (0dB). You then have independent level control with the Aux master fader. To then go one further, you could set up a DCA to control the over LR & Aux master with a singular fader. I hope this helps! Thanks, Luke
Thanks for the update, we've been waiting for this. My question is if it's possible to play songs that weren't recorded in the mixer and put them in to play in the background before the show, thanks.
Another aux send point related question. If using AMM, will the source for that AUX be before or after AMM. On SQ I can choose this after delay. Is there a routing schema like for SQ series to show this?
I really wanted to use this with my MPC in standalone mode. This mixer is a perfect size It's modern but doesn't have the 44.1 sample rate. Now I have to send it back.
Can you elaborate? Because this mixer had only 48 khz it was uncompatible with 44 khz mpc? Couldn't you use another Mpc which had that sample rate, or Maschine possibly?
The CQ system is closed and unable to network audio, so it is unlikely, that this will ever be implemented. We have the 20B model for those who would rather have a stage box-esque mixer. Kind regards, Luke
Hi Samuel, The CQ system does not run any network protocol. So, it is not possible to use any CAT enabled stage box with the mixer. The only way this can be achieved is with an analogue snake. Furthermore, there is no dedicated talkback system on this mixer. Thanks, Luke
I was wondering about the same yesterday. Mute Mode - Set Trails On to hear any reverb or delay trail fade out naturally when muting an FX unit. Set Trails Off to have the FX mute instantly. You can find it in the manual on page 112.
It is possible to set up a mute group to include as many inputs, FX or output busses as desired for muting with a singular mute switch. You will need to make sure that you are running the most current version firmware for this feature to be avaible. The group is set under Config>Control&Nextwork>Mute groups. The GUI button can be found on the Mute group/DCA view of either the fader or processing view. If you would like this on a softkey, go to Config>Control&Nextwork>Soft controls and set to mute group. Thanks, Luke
Eventhough this is all impressive I still need alot more. For instance: Subgroups. For me, I really need subgroups/group channels. Why is it that A&H realeases these affordable rack mixers and never have them have subgroups and so little DCA's? Like, I have a soundcraft ui24r and we have at least 6 subgroups and also 6 DCA's ALSO 6 mute groups! And it's also cheaper than most A&H products. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE A&H products and use them all the time form the SQ series all the way up to Dlive range. The problem is when A&H release some affordable stuff they release some idiot proof mixers which CAN'T do shit for pro mixers. And Soundcraft ui24r have Lexicon effects and DBX compressors, de-esser and decent preamps AND 24 fucking CHANNELS for a cheaper option than this!!! I'm sorry this CQ range a boat load of sh*t just to get money off of new "audio engineers". Sorry for ranting.
Could you please let me know where you find the touchscreen, buttons and knobs on the Ui24R? Also, it's a 16 (20) input mixer how many sub groups do you need?
Allen Heath doesn't have support for their products, only knowledge base. I bought CQ 20B recently and can't connect with CQ app on desktop computer. I used Ethernet cable. Hi! Thx so much for the live stream! Any news for a stream about midi?
Could there be an option to have post fader metering with a temporary peak hold indicator in a future update? Al Gurr
Has anyone been getting issues with the phantom power? Or noise feedback.
When will you make a 24 channel CQ, it will really help with medium to large scale events.
I think the fader via ipad or tablet is not smooth enuf for doing some gigs for fast response yet

With CQ you can run the Aux buses post-fade, set all faders to unity, and then assign a DCA to both the main LR and aux bus master faders.

How does the update affect previous databases? Is the new OS backward compatible?
I just bought a cq-18t. I have an ef note e-drum which has a micro usb with 8 audio out and I connect it to the ca-18t through the usb A. Is doesn’t seem to recognize the input coming from my edrum. Is there something I am doing wrong? Does it have to be connected to usb b of the cqt-18?
I also tried connecting my ef note-drum to the usb b port from the mixer as well and it does not appear the cq-18 recognizes my ef note drum set
USB host connection on CQ is only supported on Mac OS, IOS and Windows.
Please use the analogue connectivity from your E-drum kit.
Thanks,

I wish that this console would allow you to take an input off the LR so you can send inputs to aux/bus then send that bus to the LR 😢😢😢😢😢

Thanks for the update, we've been waiting for this. My question is if it's possible to play songs that weren't recorded in the mixer and put them in to play in the background before the show, thanks.

Hi.
