  • In this tutorial you will learn about Set User Identifier bit that is Setuid Bit in Linux Operating System. We do this with the help of chmod command in Linux. The Suid bit is an advanced feature of file security system in Linux. The octal value of suid is equals to 4. The purpose of setting this type of permission is to secure the file and this is good for security but this can be dangerous. By setting suid bit leads the programs to run with the credentials of their user owner.

    Hello Harsh.......video to samajh me aaya........par hum SUID bit kyu lagate ha.....please ye bh batao.......agar uspe SUID lagane se vo file owner ki permission ke sathh executable ban jati hai....to us file pe 777 bh to laga sakte hai......then what is the special purpose of assigning the SUID bit ??

    • @EthicalHarsh
      @EthicalHarsh  5 років тому

      Hi there, SUID bit ek special tarah ki permission hai. Agar kisi file pe aap SUID lagaynge toh wo user hi us file ko access kar paayega aur agar chmod 777 use karoge to koi bhi user linux mei us file ko easily access kar lega.

    Dude you should mention that people who have no root access should not change the s bit for User else they will mess with SUDO in their OS..

      Sir i have already cleared the concept of Normal User and Super User in my earlier videos. The one who is following my videos from starting shouldn't have any doubt related to SUDO concept. I can't make my videos more lengthy as it is already overlong.
