What a fantastic upload, amazing look back to the stadium atmosphere then, the 65.000 crowd must have been the last time this stadium was ever so filled...
Totally agree, the game is hideous now, No heart or soul, no characters in the game whatsoever, glad we can watch these vintage games cuz I won’t watch any of today’s games....
My first ever European match. Olympic stadium packed with 63000, great atmosphere. 1-0 was not enough to reach the final. Peter Shilton was great that night.
Great game, solid ass defensive performance by the famous team, an a hilarious interview with the big goalie, the amount of time's he looked tae the ceiling, as if to say anywhere but here, 🎵we all agree NOTT'M FOREST ARE MAGIC, true story, UUUUUUU RED'S FTID.
What a great voice..This guy was still commentating when I was a kid watching football in the mid 90's he definitely contributed to me loving football... Euro 96 and Michael Owen goal against Argentina in 98.. such a distinctive comforting voice we don't have intelligent, articulate people commentating on football anymore
1:44:30 "Arsenal have scored in the last 2 minutes" That was Arsenal winning 1-0 at Juventus to go through to the cup winners cup final. What a great night for English football.
Ajax Amsterdam: Schrijvers (1); Meutstege (3) (46.' Zwamborn (13)), Krol (5), Wijnberg (4), Boeve (2); Arnesen (8), Schoenaker (11), Jensen (7), Lerby (6); La Ling (9), Bonsink (10). Nottingham Forest: Shilton (1); Anderson (2), Burns (5), Lloyd (6), Gray (3); O'Neill (7), Bowyer (8), McGovern (4); Francis (10), Birtles (9), Robertson (11). Shilton was absolutely unbeatable by low balls from Ajax that evening, although he conceded 1 goal in the 66th minute, a header by Lerby at the second goal post, after a corner from Arnesen from the left side. 23-4-1980 Ajax-Nottingham Forest 1-0 (1st match: 9-4-1980 Nottingham Forest-Ajax 2-0).
Clough should have patched things up with Taylor before he died but he was too stubborn. All this 'I still miss you badly, mate' stuff that Clough came out with after Taylor's death doesn't wash with me. That's guilt talking. Clough had eight years where he didn't speak to Taylor and that's plenty of time to realise he missed him and to do something about it. But he didn't and Clough suffered for it both emotionally and physically for the rest of his life.
We all have these regrets, buddy. Things we should have said, but didn't. Times when we should have kept our traps shut but didn't. You're right, though. It eat away at Cloughie, unresolved regret and guilt do that to the human soul.
@@Roscoe.P.Coldchain Double european champion, assisted the winning goal for the first european cup whilst being tightly marked by 2 defenders, scored the winning goal for the second european cup. Won 23 caps for his country. I'm not sure what else this fella wants. He was world class for his time and thats all you can do, you cant compete with players who came 40 years later you can only be judged in your time. The OP's comment is idiotic and disrespectful. Robertsn was the proto-type inside forward, playing the way modern players like Ronaldo do, but 40 years earlier, which makes him precisely 40 years ahead of his time in 1979. I'm not sure what else the OP needs from the guy but his comment is ignorant to the max.
HAVE A NICE DAY. WATCHED THIS VIDEO TOO. ENJOYED. SUPER IMAGE. LIKE AND THANKS FROM ME. BAKU CITY
The great Forest team and what an important win
The stuff after the game with Peter Taylor is fascinating.

The time when football was really about football and not corporate greed
Just!

Soren Lerby went on to become the 1979/80 Champions Cup top scorer with 10 goals.
But no winner's medal to show for it.
I love Forest when I was a student in HONG KONG

Brian Moore was a legendary commentator but he always called Ajax after the bathroom cleaner
Someone must have told our Brian the right pronunciation
😂😂😂
I never rated Moore as a commentator but I thought he was a very good interviewer.

Everyone in the Forrest team is a a diude. No slack
06:23 the Forest player in yellow looks like Larry Bird the basketball player
Think you mean the Scottish defender kenny Burns..
@@Roscoe.P.Coldchain That's correct, a good player in his day. He was all of 26 for this game...now he's an OAP and bald.

I can't make it out.
1:49:19 Is Moore telling Taylor in advance how to answer one of his questions?
...with lots of pauses brian!

John Robertson could have been a world class player... if he upped his ambition and training like C.Ronaldo
Different times fella, oh and he is a European champion, so I guess u could say that makes your comment complete nonsense on every level...
He was World Class. The End.
