- Hello! As I'm sure you know, today's video is the second part of the last one I published, in which I told you how to work with alcohol inks on a sheet of fired polymer clay.
In this one I'm going to show you all the tests I did, which, as you can imagine, include a lot of failures, but also a lot of paths that lead to success.

oh a big thank you ana for this research, I am very happy to discover this video which will greatly facilitate my task because having a disability in the arms with a loss of strength and I was at the moment in full questioning on the fact of continuing or stop the polymer because this one hurts me too much to work, there another way of doing things could remotivate me to continue, thank you thank you 😘

De nuevo gracias. Como te comenté en el video anterior, me parece genial está forma de instruir, pues además pones en valor el trabajo artesano. Yo lo hago por diversión y para regalar, pues estoy ya jubilada. Pero pienso en esas personas que se dedican a vender sus obras y que les quieren comprar por debajo del precio de costo. Son muchas horas invertidas y mucho cariño puesto en ellas. Y eso no tiene precio. Eso tiene valor y hay que pagarlo.

Ana! Gracias por este tutorial, admiro tu empeño y determinación en estos procesos de prueba y error y viéndote pensé que quizá era más fácil primero cortar y luego añadir las tintas de alcohol.😊

Nice work.
You could probably just leave the vinyl on the clay sheet while you cut, to save some work.
If you ever look at another machine, the Brother SCan n Cut will scan the images on the clay sheet (if made without the margin) and it will cut the outline automatically no matter where the image is placed on the mat.

Awesome Ana, i have a cricut but still havent used it. This is a awesome idea cause you dont need to buy the standard cutters but make up your own ideas.

Hi Ana, I have an idea, why not make a stencil of your enlarged design instead of vinyl that has to be wasted? You could then trace onto the clay with a Frixion Pen that disappears when heated. You can then paint the alcohol ink in the traced areas and then use a heat gun or hot blowdryer to make the Frixion Pen disappear. Then cut it. Cheaper, faster and less waste. I don't have a Cricut Maker yet but I think that should work.
I think it's a MARVELOUS idea! I think it's a great way to avoid using single-use materials.

This is a venture I have yet to attempt. I have a Cameo 3 and I'm familiar with a few other artists that use Polymer clay with electric cutters. I knew I wasn't interested in cutting raw clay on my cutter, I know my Cameo 3 has less clearance than the Cricut maker so I'm not sure if I could use baked clay, but I definitely want to explore it now! I've only made stencils and templates and a vinyl stencil on a blank silk screen hack to use on polymer clay. Now I want to bake a bunch of clay and start experimenting. I'm also curious how much distortion I'd get from using a metal die, both wafer and steel rule in my Sizzix. How thin or thick, how clean... etc. Thanks for sharing!!! You've got my creative juices flowing!!!

The cameo 3 has enough clearance, but doesn't have the same force as the Maker. So it is more difficult to cut baked clay. The Cameo 4 has more force in the 2nd tool holder, but the clay see till needs to be thinner if cutting it baked than if you cut it raw.
I simply love this. I hope I can follow in your footsteps with this breakthrough, Ana! You are a trailblazer for sure! 💗

Thanks for sharing. I have a different cutting machine but I think your willingness to share can be applied to other cutting machines. P.S. I learned from using my laser machine to not move the material until I make sure it has cut completely. I always test to see if one piece has been completely cut. If not I run the cut sequence again. Once again thanks for sharing.

If you used a Scan N'Cut machine by Brother you would simply scan in the sheet of clay painted with the alcohol ink shapes and cut them.

Primero que nada felicidades por tu gran trabajo, eres toda una profesional, quisiera preguntarte si crees que es posible cortar la arcilla polimérica en una máquina de corte láser de CO2 =)
yo usaria el vinil abajo inverso como el cuero . le daría presión máxima u más pasadas y tal vez menos cocción en la arcilla para que esté más suave pero no se pegue. Es un poco la técnica de cuero. lo intentaré .

Ana muchas gracias por la idea, jamás se me hubiera ocurrido usar la maquina de corte para esto, tengo la mini cricut y la Curio, supongo que funcionaran igual, una pregunta si me lo permites, cual es el producto que pones detras de los pendientes de color blanco para tapar las bases de los palitos? Seguro que también funciona, pero tendrás que hacer alguna otra prueba. Lo que le pongo detrás es resina epoxi teñica con tinta de color blanco :*
