✎ She started her career as a singer in the local Adelaide acid jazz band Crisp in the mid-1990s. In 1997, when Crisp disbanded, she released her debut studio album titled OnlySee in Australia. She moved to London, England, and provided lead vocals for the British duo Zero 7. In 2000, Sia signed to Sony Music's sub-label Dance Pool. She took a hiatus from performing, during which she focused on songwriting for other artists. Her catalog includes the collaborations "Titanium" (with David Guetta), "Diamonds" (with Rihanna) and "Wild Ones" (with Flo Rida). In 2014, Sia released her sixth studio album 1000 Forms of Fear, which debuted at No 1 in the U.S. Billboard 200. In 2016, she released her seventh studio album This Is Acting, which spawned her first Hot 100 number one single, "Cheap Thrills".

I discovered Sia 4-5 years ago. At the time I was so depressed and nothing interested. I heard Sia’s Elastic Heart and from there I started going through all of her music. I would fall asleep to her older albums it was the only thing that kept me goin for a bit. From there I ended up getting help and now I am good and have been clean and sober for 3 years on 4/13/19. Her interviews and her music helped me so much. It was what I needed at the time to kickstart me off to wanting to get back into life again. Sia is pretty awesome. If you’re feeling this make sure you reach out to someone, a professional if needed, but just someone. It’s tough but fuck, YOUR LIFE CAN GET SOOO MUCH BETTER!!!

I think people do get caught up sometimes in the awards aspect, especially in the entertainment industry. But also, sometimes awards are rightfully given to a great performer, singer, actor, artist, do-gooder, etc. and it's really nice to see someone who's worked so hard and enhanced their talents or used them for good or for the advancement of art, receive an award for it. The times I've won awards, it's always been, I've felt, a rightfully recognized measure of my hard work. Sometimes I've not won something and it did make me feel bad, but only because I wanted something important, like a scholarship. When I played music, I won some awards and I practiced a lot just to do well and the award was a measure of that. Like passing a test. If I don't get it, it's it's because I either wasn't quite there or someone else who was there was better or whatever. I do think too much emphasis can be placed on it, but it's also really nice when I see deserving people be handed an award, like when Chadwick Bosman won the frivolous award of best Hero for Black Panther, I think he felt good that he won it, because it meant that young people really liked his acting and valued his work. His character really is a hero not just in the film, but in real life because it was a nearly all black cast in a superhero film which gives a whole underserved population of young people a hero to look up to who actually looks like them. But he then turned around and gave the Hero award to the man who stopped the gunman at the Waffle House in Tennessee, who was also a real hero in a much different way, also felt good. I'm sure he knows what a brace thing he did, but to be recognized by a big celebrity in that way with an award was really beautiful and heartwarming.
I love Sia! She the real thing, no conforming to societies expectations, no make up, plastic surgery.... non-Kardashian like mentality lol

In this hectic world of carbon copy so-called "pop-artists and pop musicians" that have no real talent of their own to speak of, I find Sia a breath of fresh air. Seeing and hearing her in person and being interviewed showing her face in the most recent television interviews, shows exactly how much she has grown, and how far she has come in her life. What is amazing is that she is so self aware and she knows who she really is. So many people who have achieved her levels of success will more often than not, become so full of self and will forget about the people who helped them reach their pinnacles of success. She does not and has never forgotten us... her viewers, her fans, and the people who love her music. I personally cannot say that I love her... I don't know her. But I love what she does.
Sia is a rare gift to the musical world. Her gifts have done so much to bring so many other so-called musicians to success, yet she remained relatively obscure while they rode on the skills of her musical talents and gifts. She never complained, she just kept right on doing what she does best, and that is to make music.
I am no fan of how and why she is always covering up her face with outrageous hats and hair. I understand why she does it and I agree with her explanation however. She was right when she said that "there is a certain mysticism lacking in the world of music these days," and is why she chose to cover up her face. But she made numerous, very successful music video recordings in recent years, and she has done so many live performances that the world knows who she is now. The mystery of who she is, is gone. The hair and covering of her face is now just a fad of her persona. It's not a bad thing, but it doesn't really fit now that the world knows who she is.
Be that as it may... there is no denying who she is as a person. She is someone who is very much in touch with herself and knows very clearly who she is. In this world of music and musicians, that is something so rare and precious. Her gifts, her talent, and her willingness to take on this musical world are something truly amazing. And yet she can do so and still remain firmly grounded. And she is never willing to release or let go of her true identity. She guards and protects it with an almost jealous zeal. But how she protects herself and her identity of self is very odd and truly unique... she protects who and what she is by giving it all to the world. She hides nothing... she is honest about who she is... she is honest about what she believes in... she is honest and open about her feelings... and she does NOT allow the world to govern what she does or where to go... she does what she has always done best... make and create music, and her approach to music is something so rare and beautiful that it can really be said that "She is one of a kind."
Is she unique? Well, yes... and no. There are other musicians that are equally as unique and equally as gifted as Sia. One such musician who I miss seeing around is Tracy Chapman... another is Joan Osborne, two amazingly gifted and very special musicians who can sing and perform and actually write their own music. There are others, but I can't think of them at the moment.
But even after so many years of being in the background and in the foreground, Sia continues writing, creating and making music for the world to enjoy, and she does it without giving up who she is. She loves her fans, she loves the music world, and we love her. I, mostly for her gifts and what she brings to this often repetitive musical industry that lacks any real substance and originality. She brings uniqueness and originality in abundance, and she always, ALWAYS leaves us happy and wanting more... So few people understand how truly rare that really is....

I read an article about how many of the huge pop hits in the last few years were either written by SIA or Ed Sheeran. They are true modern day musicians, singers and song writers as opposed to a manufactured performer pumped out by a record label and massive corporation. She is a dialed in, smart and kind woman and I raise my beer to her. Well done mate!
I only recently found Sia..and LOVE her back story more than her actual music, I love the music but her whole story and transformation into her real authentic self is just amazing, enduring, and kindred. Thank you for seeing how much this post inspires people.

I am suffering from bipolar disorder. My favorite singer is SIA in a distant country and I am confident that my chance is impossible. I discovered her when I was deeply depressed. At the time it was the only thing that could get me out of my shit. I got help but discovering Sia about 4-5 years ago helped me so freaking much. Been sober for 3 years this past 4/13/19, and again her recovery actually helped me as well. I’ve been wanting to write her as well. There is an address on her Twitter. She helps ppl. But if you’re feeling like shit make sure to reach out, to professionals if needed, but def reach out and let someone know how you are...

I just recently started listening to her older music and interviews. Her struggles with mental and physical illness and self medication. I feel mentally, as if she was running from the fear and responsibility of her own brilliance (and physical issues didn't help) thankfully it caught up to her. Don't know her just mho. She is obviously became an icon in the music industry, and seems to be doing well. Very smart and talented person.
