      @@aquatichighs considering we've visited the bottom of the Marianas trench, I'd say we're doing a good job of pushing all boundaries. humans on the moon and Mars coming up in the next several years. commercial reusable rockets mainstream now.

      Well said . . Space is still very dangerous, but NASA, THE USA and SpaceX are best equipped to deal with the dangers. N0 one else on Planet Earth, has landed a Man on the Moon or flew an Helicopter on Mars or even returned Rockets to a landing pad . . .. Go AMERICA . . . .

    So crazy to realize that these are actually two objects screaming along around 4.7 miles per second or 15,500 MPH with one catching up to another ever so slightly

      Yeah it's nuts, the fact that motion and velocity are absolutely relative, take earth out of their frame of relativity and they are almost motionless just slowly moving towards each other.

      @@onlyhuman5 Yeah ok so why do you storm in here demanding something is "nonsense" before making sure that it's not you that has misunderstood it?
      And in any case they are not motionless in the frame of reference you are talking about, because of the large distance to the sun and the relatively small distance they travel during the video the angle of the sun's light and the shadows it casts change very little.

    I saw the ISS pass overhead a few years ago with a supply ship getting ready to dock. Stunning sight with both travelling at the ridiculous speed of 15,500 mph.

      I'm not sure if I saw it or not but i remember seeing what appeared to be a star, or even the plant venus as seen with the naked eye, it zoomed across the sky and disappeared way before the horizon. The dissapearing before the horizon might signify it was outside the atmosphere. Not 100% sure but what else can it be.

      @@abseiduk That's how the ISS behaves, it appears above the horizon, then "disappears" into Earth's shadow sometimes way before it reaches the opposite horizon.

      I distinctly remember the early space program. I was on summer vacation in 69, glued to the tele for hours waiting for the first moonlanding. One of the strongest memories of my teen years.

      I remember Alan Shepard's first Mercury flight (1961). Watched 'em all ever since. But it was really an amazing time in the 1960's as we made those first "baby steps." It was a great time in America for innovation and that kind of stuff. Not so much for all Americans of all colors to come together, though. It's time we grow as a civilization again.

      It's manual and automation but if it failed to dock then it automatically retreated.

      get some VR headset like Quest 2. There's an amazing ISS game that is free and its the closest us mere mortals will come until the next quality leap of VR. You could make it super realistic hooking up straps so you float above your bed like some kind of levitating VR lunatic haha

    Makes it nice and dramatic with the random piece of space station architecture in the foreground and the dragon capsule moving in the back ground. Excellent composition but it needs a human element. Really cool would be a couple astronauts casually doing maintenance in the foreground picture right.

      They said a couple days during the launch. There would be a double crew to work on some experiments to jumpstart it before return.

    Does crew 2 fly backwards? Because the space station is orbiting the earth towards it. Sure this would be impossible unless the crew 2 capsule was moving backwards to counteract the speed??

      Yes it can fly in any orientation and the dragon thrusters can rotate 360.

    Dear Nasa, if an Astronaut sneezed in zero gravity , would they somersault do a backflip or just shoot backwards until they hit a wall? Cheers PW aged 53 and 3 quaters

      My guess would be start to backflip and a little bit of going backwards, since center of mass is at torso and the sneeze "thrust" is obviously at the mouth. It would probably be super slow though 😂

      Go to spot the station web site. You can watch the ISS when it passes overhead. I have seen it a couple of times, including once when the shuttle was following it.
