The math on all of this is amazing
But it's flat
This goes way beyond Pythagoras
We look so comfortable in space now. Exciting time’s ahead.
I don’t know about you but I’m kicking back this weekend on my moon yacht.
Comfortable in low earth orbit? The ISS is only 400km from earth. Get serious.
I wonder when Elon will achieve another first....the first margaritas in space. Very exciting times ahead!🥃👽
@@aquatichighs considering we've visited the bottom of the Marianas trench, I'd say we're doing a good job of pushing all boundaries. humans on the moon and Mars coming up in the next several years. commercial reusable rockets mainstream now.
Well said . . Space is still very dangerous, but NASA, THE USA and SpaceX are best equipped to deal with the dangers. N0 one else on Planet Earth, has landed a Man on the Moon or flew an Helicopter on Mars or even returned Rockets to a landing pad . . .. Go AMERICA . . . .
Watching that careful approach reminds me of the Test Pilot's Prayer: "Lord, don't let me screw this up..."
So crazy to realize that these are actually two objects screaming along around 4.7 miles per second or 15,500 MPH with one catching up to another ever so slightly
Yeah it's nuts, the fact that motion and velocity are absolutely relative, take earth out of their frame of relativity and they are almost motionless just slowly moving towards each other.
@@onlyhuman5 Yeah ok so why do you storm in here demanding something is "nonsense" before making sure that it's not you that has misunderstood it?
And in any case they are not motionless in the frame of reference you are talking about, because of the large distance to the sun and the relatively small distance they travel during the video the angle of the sun's light and the shadows it casts change very little.
@@onlyhuman5 lol ok got it 👍
There’s no way they are moving at 4.7 miles per second. Not unless they slowed down the video
@@bl1398 3rd bullet point. It's relative to earth, just like earth is relative to the sun, relative to the galaxy.

“passenger gave you 1 star because you took too long”
Dude that’s the future no doubt about it
That will be 100k. Please leave a tip.
You truly understand the nature of relative speed watching this.
No you dont
speak for yourself
I saw the ISS pass overhead a few years ago with a supply ship getting ready to dock. Stunning sight with both travelling at the ridiculous speed of 15,500 mph.
I'm not sure if I saw it or not but i remember seeing what appeared to be a star, or even the plant venus as seen with the naked eye, it zoomed across the sky and disappeared way before the horizon. The dissapearing before the horizon might signify it was outside the atmosphere. Not 100% sure but what else can it be.
@@abseiduk That's how the ISS behaves, it appears above the horizon, then "disappears" into Earth's shadow sometimes way before it reaches the opposite horizon.
The IOS Is actually going 17,130 mph.
@@johnegan4626 the ISS not Ios
@@johnegan4626 ur wrong.... its actually going at 17,131 mph
Anybody else hear The Blue Danube Waltz in their head while watching the docking maneuver?
Oh yes, a fellow Commander I see.
Staffan Nilsson, Elite got the idea from the movie ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’.

@@markkruger8540 Ah yes, you're correct. That movie really captured the complete stilness of space.

This is amazing ..... I’ve been on this Earth 58 years .... it’s just as excited now as I was in 1969
What planet were you on before the 58 years? Just kidding. :-)
I distinctly remember the early space program. I was on summer vacation in 69, glued to the tele for hours waiting for the first moonlanding. One of the strongest memories of my teen years.
I remember Alan Shepard's first Mercury flight (1961). Watched 'em all ever since. But it was really an amazing time in the 1960's as we made those first "baby steps." It was a great time in America for innovation and that kind of stuff. Not so much for all Americans of all colors to come together, though. It's time we grow as a civilization again.
@@kimkarlgardner8486 it may not be the moon yet, but it's awesome that once again people have spaceflight progress to look forward to. Whether it be starship prototypes, or SLS hot fires, for me at least it makes me excited to be alive
Some "Blue Danube" would be ideal now.
Respect! Is the docking process automatic or manual? I have seen in movie how manually this is done. Its awesome!!
It's manual and automation but if it failed to dock then it automatically retreated.
It's automatic but has a manual backup in case of failure
Tractor Beam Lock On Now !
Sitting here on Earth from the comfort of my room, watching the docking as if happening right beside me... Wow

Haha we can go to space yet we still make sexist jokes what a strange species...
@@Nostalg33 That was a joke about a specific woman, who he personally knows, and can testify to her actual ability. Sexist would be if he said women can't drive. Quit being a baby.
😂
@@rogerfreeman6787 Ye this is obviously not a copy pasta of a sexist trope. It's not at all a trope resonating with a lot of jokes about women driving. And it has absolutely nothing to do with sexism.
Pointing out this sexist trope used as a joke is not being a baby btw. You should maybe understand that pointing out the lack of driving ability of a woman is a stereotype vehiculed by years of sexism.

So smooth and calm approach :) Imagine how relatively fast those things actual move through space!
