Fr, it actually makes me wish we got more time with them before everything happened. I think it would’ve made their deaths hold more weight too (not that the fear in their voices and body horror didn’t hold enough weight)
To me it looked like some living organism was being built around the rig. At the end you were where the heart was forming. And all the weird monsters feel like they were like immune cells wandering around looking to kill foreign objects (you and the people) hence the weird blobny features and even the kind of way they absorb people is similar to how immune cells will wrap around foreign bodies to digest them
I like this game LMAO. What a sensible protag we have, not like those silent protags who when told to do this dangerous shit just readily accepts it. Caz be like, "Nah fam, it's cozy here. I want to stay."
I’m on my second play through of the game, crazy how they foreshadowed all the characters that were going to be turned into monster by showing them in the dining hall, nice little detail.
I like how despite the fact that you definitely can’t notice it in real time, the oil rig silhouette in the main menu is actually shifting up and down in the water. Really just shows the level of detail they put in this game.
They did a great job actually introducing the characters and making you feel and understand them which makes their loss a impactful later in the story.
These monsters remind me of Carrion, the game where you play as a red fleshy blob who moves by shooting it's tentacles to stay moving, which it also uses to Grasp things and people, although unlike Carrion, they don't seem to outright Eat the captured.
I've gotta say, sound design in this game is amazing im at the 2 hour mark and just hiding in places and hearing everything going on so close outside is honestly horrifying. Great job dev team!
I wish I caught the stream just to ask, "ever heard of crouching mate?" jokes aside, this really could be a contender of best horror game of 2024 bloody hell
the only thing that bothers me about this game is that the electrics are miss-represented... the methods may be accurate... but in the generator sequence when figuring out the fault 1) the fuse blowing would basically remove the fault from the grid, therefore the generator getting powered on again wouldnt be a problem anymore, the electrics connected under that specific fuse obviously wouldnt be powered anymore, but better then the whole rig being unpowered 2) replacing the fuse without disconnecting/removing the fault is just gonna result in the new fuse blowing out the same... or the panel for the counter-weight in the leg blowing a fuse and somehow still shorting, and you gotta replace the fuse to stop it from being wet and shorting...? pure nonsense that is... but other then that, love the game.
100/10 class game. I think some of the stealth sections were a little slow, or at least slow to watch, but that's to be expected in it's own way and purely personal opinion. Starts off tense, gets kinda dull when the initial tenseness wears off and it boils down to its mechanics. Still very much a walking sim overall. However, that doesn't make it an incredibly solid game. Great narrative and characters, fun story with excellent pacing. Loved watching it.
sad part is if he had stuck him with his insulin it might of been possible to perform CPR and bring Roy back. not a 100% chance but still a chance. not that it would of mattered.
also. inspiration for the game was from this event. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piper_Alpha I like to think you are living through the last thoughts going through Caz's mind as he is one of the two men who fell overboard and in the wiki it states only 2 men died in the piper alpha incident. that the whole game is his last moments alive warped through his fading minds. many things in the game such as optical illusions in windows and other hallucinations kinda tie this theory in.
fun fact: falling from 15m or more into water would be the basically the same as hitting concrete from the same height so the best thing to fall into isn't water, but rather sand(or foam/cardboard but those aren't just laying all over the place like sand is)
@@LiamMeme-xv4kl 1: you would need to be falling right into the splash of the first guy with minimal delay between the two of them 2: it will still hit nearly as hard, the difference will be minimal, you will still hit the water fast enough to break bones 3: you now have something far harder than water in the way: a human body with hard bones
This is clearly incorrect, misleading or interpreted wrong. Please consider the following: 1- diving boards in competitive high diving go up to 27 meters. 2- the highest dive record is 58.8m 3- the divers are all diving into water and come out of it relatively uninjured 4- they clearly dont dive into concrete for some reason, i wonder why...
@@nanonano2595 consider the following: 1: they are jumping into the water purposefully 2: look at their pose, are the flailing around? no, they are falling either feet first or hand first, they are breaking the water tension using the minimum amount of surface area as possible (I.E using the tip of their toes or the tips of their fingers first) 3: diving boards of 27m is clearly less than 50m 4: even the record that is 58m is a risk the athlete took from doing it wrong and dying, because of that no one risks to go over the 50m mark 5: they are doing so in a controlled or at least stable environment, the sea water should be calm or otherwise they are in a pool with no waves 6: the game character is in an open sea oil rig, where the water is not only salty and hence slightly denser, the sea conditions also can change from complete calm to hellish storm in minutes 7- all of those cases are *PROFESSIONALS* in doing so, or at least trained for such 8- you are falling without preparation you can't change your pose that fast while freefalling
When I was in high school (graduated in 2009), we would use cassette tapes to record an oral portion of our Spanish exams. Could we have used flash drives? Maybe. Not all computers had the capability to record audio and we weren't the wealthiest area. But you could buy a pack of 4 cassettes very cheaply, have enough for the whole year, and the school let us borrow tape players/recorders. Easy peasy. And it's pretty cool technology. Heck, I still have a player somewhere, and a collection of music tapes from my childhood. They've worn out in some places, but are mostly still clearly audible! Ahhh, the nostalgia...

Gotta play Devil's Advocate here.
Oftentimes people in charge will lie about severity to try and put those under them at ease.
You know the voice acting and emotions are god tier when you actually care about the characters

That... makes so much sense.
That makes it so much creepier than I already thought it was
a great and honestly quite a reasonable theory
Theres actually a video comparing the creature to a bacteria, it was really interesting
as someone with severe Thalassophobia (fear of deep water) Caz's job would be my worst nightmare, my gawd, just watching is making me feel dreadful

Caz be like, "Nah fam, it's cozy here. I want to stay."
We need more games that have people like this. The Scottish slang is amazing.
The voice acting is amazing
It’s so good
Honestly some of the most human characters I think I've ever seen. I heard Joel from The Last of us was on point too but haven't seen it
@@angramainyu4599 Last of Us is legendary. They know how to pull on your heartstrings too. I have yet to play but I’ve sobbed watching play throughs

Good catch
This game was an incredible balance of horror, dread, genuine heartfelt moments, and humor all rolled into a beautiful package 😂
I love how often Caz has to question why he's the one that has to do fucking everything.
But he wasn't. Brodie was the hard carry during all that.

It may be a short game but everything it provides is top notch in quality & it feels human, the characters , the voice acting, the world,....

Watched it live, watching it again immediately
It's inescapable that underwater, or really water in general, levels are always ASS. A Shitty Situation.
This was an unexpected tearjerker. Excellent game!
I wish I caught the stream just to ask, "ever heard of crouching mate?"
jokes aside, this really could be a contender of best horror game of 2024 bloody hell
I love that kind of tea. The bags it comes in i mean.
Kaif explaining a cassetteplayer made me feel really old and im not even in my 30's yet...

I don’t think the boss turning is what caused the helicopter to crash I think the SPIRE pulled it back in. 1:34:57

This is the scariest thing I have seen and I have never really been scared of anything (I had to literally take breaks cauz it's so scary 😢)

I’m watching this while eating McDonalds but still another great stream
