    The introduction part of this video was so honest and grounding. It's okay to change and grow, i love book and on my youtube and Spotify podcast page I mainly talk about books as an escape. But the world is a crazy place and it's okay to take mental health breaks and if that's break is books that's okay. ❤

    My biggest problem with BookTube is everyone recommending the same 10 books all time. I appreciate diversity even if it’s something I wouldnt read.

    • @rosti7698
      @rosti7698 15 днів тому +4

      Same thing for me. Every post I see, the majority of the books that are being recommended are exactly the same. It's like going around in circles on every single book recs link I click, always in the hopes of finding a book that I've never seen anyone talk about. There's no diversity, like you said, people seem to have no personal taste or interests, they just read whatever someone on in the internet throws at them (same with mainstream music, but that's a topic for another day), it's like these are the only fiction books and that's that, and then it's basically rinse and repeat. The other thing that makes my blood boil is when I see a creator not liking a book and I see the comments being like ''I'm not reading that, then, or I'm taking it off my TBR'', etc, etc. Do I want to read some of these books myself? Yeah, sure, but like, what happened with individuality? Have people just forgotten that this word exists? Because at this point, I really believe they don’t know its meaning.

    I don't have reading goals but this year I feel the same as you, I want to read slower and go deeper into the books I read. I'm a big DNF'er and pretty much won't finish a book that I don't connect with.
    Social media has made us all too extreme. I have no issue with any of your videos. People can be totally honest about books and still be respectful. You prove that. Reading preferences are so personal.

One of my new goals for 2025 is to read more of my physical copies on my tbr so that I can either get rid of them/ pass them onto a friend and ONLY keep the absolute favourites. I own way too many books and need more space 😂

    Hi Haliey I decided to do the very same thing! Take things slower. I have to fight theurge within to want to power through a book. or deny myself an afternoon of the sims. But its happening. Im lowering my book count on my priority list of goals for the year. and putting my health as #1. I DNF'd 45 books last year! it was so great!
    I feel what your saying about prefacing your aduience for less content. I actually wached a few amazing videos on how to make content without having to finish a book. I think it will help me alot not fel like "keeping up with the joneses" runing out of book content for my channel.
    Wow, I think your my new fave creator saying that about your opinions on TikTok reviews. I want productive reviews good and bad with real feelings. I cannpt stand feeling the Political Bias's when I just want a book to love and sint into. And you can totaly tell when authors try to plug a charatcer they care about just so they can tik the box for queer, or trans rep for the "botom line" Just be real and it will shine through as genuine.
    lol the "normal girl" i agree. the people on social media do not represent the reality of life in the world and real life relationships with real life humans.
    Yes peoples personal bias about people is their own its when they try to influence others where I have a problem. Stop being a bible pusher.
    Sorry about your divorce. While My husband and I decided to reconcile I know the feelings. the chaos its literally the worst no matter what the situation is, its devastating and I started seeking out suport and its said that a divorce is a primary trauma in a persons life. so my heart genuinely goes out to you.

      I think there’s nuance here - I’m all for a worst books of the year video but I like them to explain why. It also seems like the mentioned video which I also watched showed the video creator talking about a book where it should have been clear in the synopsis she wouldn’t like it but she just kept reading 😅 seemingly just to hate on it. Which like I’m a queer woman and also don’t think the series mentioned would be for me but I can see that from the synopsis and literally any reviews of the book 😂 I like worst books of the year content because sometimes hearing the why you realize you’d like the book but the mentioned creator didn’t really review the mindfuck series she just roasted them with very little information. I think that’s where I can see why people are frustrated. It seems in bad faith but she did review other books in that video which she discussed in better detail.

Like, they’ve made those jokes before, and I’m 100% down for any jokes, but it was a little aggressive. I know I personally felt unwelcome. I remember thinking to myself “dang, people more sensitive than me might not take this well and they may lose followers over this 😬”.
