Most insane match I’ve ever seen. This tournament creates magic moments
One of the all-time matches. Luke is not my favorite, pulled for Cullen the whole way, yet Luke put on a performance for the ages. Total respect for such grit & determination. Cullen was amazing, as well. Great TV.
Luke seems like a good lad, never met the bloke but I think he's the 2024 World Champ picked him from the start 2 win but I might be wrong

@@DJMorley18 assuming you’re talking about the Pietrezco match? Was you there? The TV doesn’t do the crowd noise justice, no word of a lie the palace was probably half German nationals and they were bang up for it! Great atmosphere, and banger between the sets of fans, but very tough for Luke that evening as they were very loud and proud of their man.
Cullen had plenty of chances. Always bottles it. Needs to learn to get over the line in tight games like this. Smith and Wright used to bottle it in the big moments and look how they've progressed. Cullen knows he should have won that and looked distraught at the end. Great match to watch for the neutral.

‘Bottles it’ - everyone throws that around far too much. Being beaten by another excellent player in a tight game doesn’t mean you bottled it. Humphries missed about nine darts to win before that too!

I don't understand this anti media/Littler from the older players, comes over to jealous from them. As if they wouldn't want the media attention when performing at that age like Littler does. More media for Littler is more sponsor for him, and by that, less for the others. Imo, Littler deserves all the media attention he receives and if he doesn't complain, why do the others out of his name or apparently for his interest, i don't by that at all.
That’s bollocks. The media don’t provide him with sponsorship. If he’s allowed to play darts and win tournaments without the media pressure he will never be short of sponsorship. See it for what it is fellow players looking out for a talented young man.

@@tago69mago671 He totally comes over pretty down to earth, with a lot of common sense and intelligence. I like it a lot and find it much more convenient than someone making a show out of it. I haven't been following Darts for the last few years so I haven't seen too much of him in press conferences. Didn't like him before because I found him kind of unlikeable for no cause whatever. After listening to this I took a liking to him.

He's down to earth, says what he thinks while being respectful and isn't full of cliches like a lot of sports stars, actually has an opinion instead of just agreeing with the questioner. Seems a nice young lad who has worked very hard on his game, lost a lot of weight to get fit and genuinely has the hunger and drive to get to the top.

Nothing against Luke but I was rooting for Joe - that said...I can't understand why there seems to be a lot of Luke-haters about. He's always come across as a well-spoken, respectful lad who doesn't do insulting talk and just gets on with the game at a decent pace. Despite his recent success, I can't see him being a 110+ merchant like Taylor, MVG, Wright, Anderson etc. (aka the elite) but that won't stop him from winning it outright.
I think he's seen as "not the right sort". His ring entrance is a bit of a buzz kill I'd argue. He's quite flat as a personality and just plays his darts. Has no interest at all in ANY interaction with the crowd. None of that plays well especially well with the Ally Pally crowd, who often, a fair few are up their own arse.
For me, I really like him and really rate him. The world no 1 right now, but I do get the sense the ally pally going public have made their mind up, they aren't having him and that's the end of it.
ive watched a few of these interviews and it would help if the questions was louder, struggle to hear whats being asked

@@mikeydoc11 some people are just that talented and obsessed with their sport they dont feel pressure, Wayne Rooney scored a winning goal against the premier league champions aged 16 and went home and played football with his mates like nothing had happened, Mike Tyson hardly felt pressure when he was knocking everyone out as a teenager, those two examples are much more pressurised than what Littler is under.

Humpries has shown this year that he is the most mentaly prepared of them all. He always starts slow gets outplayed in the beginning but comes back and just powers through every single failure of tempo and scoring. Its so interesting to watch.
I agree I can't see past him, yes littler is the most inform and has the highest tournament average but I think Humphries v Dobey will be the final

Man just listen to the sheer difference in Humphries’s interviews compared to the likes of MVG. Extremely level headed, massively humble, respects every player left in it and recognises they’ve all got a chance. All that comes out of MVG’s mouth is insults, stupidity, no credit towards opponents. MVG could take a LOT from the way Luke conducts himself!

Im not a humphries fan but I have to give him credit. I think he's probably the most intelligent bloke in the game. But I do think he's got lucky in this tournament. Think he'll be out in next round

I'm sorry but it comes with the territory, no matter what age you are. The guy's 17 next month, he could wait until he's 18+ to start playing on the tour if he's worried about the press. If his parents are concerned then they should be telling him to wait. The press have a job to do and that job is to sell news. In today's world, that means soundbites, clickbate headlines, and sensationalism. Whether we like that or not, it's how they get the most exposure, attract the most advertising, and thus make the most money. That way of doing things isn't gonna go away so we may as well get used to it and accept it. This very channel has done the same thing: thumbnail of a player using an angry pointing gesture; sensationalist title; capitalising quotes; and using a 16 year-old wonderkid's name. Nothing wrong with that, it's how you get exposure; EVERYONE does it and will continue to do it.
Well said. What exactly has the media done? He's not a normal 16 yr old, reminds me of Wayne Rooney. He can handle himself and has a team around him, they can do the necessary PR. If I were Littler I would be laughing at these big men running to defend me. Are they hoping Littler will take it easy on them??😂

The public seems to want it in general and it is a newsworthy story, considering his age and considerable talent, it's natural to take an interest in him.
Lets wait and see how he handles it when he can't even go for a shit without it being reported, because his private life will be invaded looking for stories.

If littler is that good the hype is irrelevant around him he can either handle the pressure like mvg did or he will crumble because the pressure is too much for him....this is what makes or breaks players
MVG didn’t win the title at 16. Took him a number of years before he was even competing. Luke actually could win it and he’s challenging for it right now. Absolutely insane!
@Powney888 that's my point littler is facing spotlight pressure to win a tournament and he's on form fair play but van gerwen was pushed at that age as the best thing darts will ever see and to win everything and dominate darts for a period etc
