A Trip To Herons Bonsai Nursery

Вставка
  • Опубліковано 24 вер 2022
  • This is the first Bonsai Vlog on my channel and in this video we go to Herons Bonsai Nursery! The nursery is in Felbridge, England and is owned by Bonsai Artist, Peter Chan.
🌳We go to attend one of Peter's workshops in where he teaches Bonsai techniques✂️
This video also includes an interview with Peter where he introduces himself and talks about his Bonsai journey and career having moved from India to the UK.
The nursery is quite a spectacular place to go if you are interested in Bonsai as there is so much to see from the growing fields, trees in development and also right up to refined Specimen Bonsai Trees.
Thank you to my friend Peter and all the wonderful staff at Herons for the kind welcome and great hostpitality.

I'm a year late to this video. I will leave a comment anyway.
I was about your age, Young Sir, when I found my love of bonsai. This was many moons ago, and you may well not have even been born. It was before the internet. My first book on bonsai was written by Peter. He has and always will be my first teacher. To see you so casually visit his garden to film and have dinner with Peter makes me green with envy!
Seriously though, it was an absolute pleasure to watch this. I have been going through your library, as I only discovered your channel a few months ago. You are quickly becoming my favorite bonsai channel!

Living in a rural area of France it is not easy to find bonsai substrates. The materials are heavy and postage expensive. What a relief when I heard Peter say that many of the trees were planted in garden compost. Brilliant. I now mix a bit of substrate with the compost. The bonus is my trees are doing much better. Happy days!

Adam, I have been to Herons a few times and Peter is extremely nice, gave us a lot of time and his experience as we brought an old Japanese white pine the first time and a very old field grown redwood, it took a while to extract it roots and pot out of the ground. Cheers, young man!

Once you start thinking about plants and horticulture...the only thing that makes you sad is that you don't have enough years of life left to be able to grow all the gardens and bonsai's you want. We only live about 100 years. Trees live 900 years or longer. LOL

@@notionbonsai thanks Adam! btw did you know I grew up in East Grinstead a couple of miles away from Herons.
Which wasn't there yet when I grew up 😱
Me and my mates often used to go there to the wiremill (where you found that conker) in the days when it was not a big risk to drink and drive.
In a way it was a full circle for me when I went back a few years ago and visited Peter in Herons. He literally laughed when I told him I had moved away from East Grinstead in the same year he opened the nursery.

Hi Adam, found your channel through Peter Chans Channel. Thank you for showing us the nursery! I hope it's okay if I say, the camera was moving a little bit too fast in my opinion. It seemed to blur the picture and made it difficult to appreciate what you where filming. But nevertheless, thank you very much for your work!

I really enjoyed this video. The interview with Peter Chan was great and I enjoyed hearing the other students experience as well. I agree with him that to see those trees in person must be a breath taking experience. I would love so much to go visit Heron's. But I live in North Carolina. I doubt I will ever get the chance to go over to the UK. I did have to put this video on 3/4 speed! You went so fast with some of your shots. It was so wonderful of Peter to do those interviews with you. What a fabulous trip for you!!

Great video! I just subbed. As one on the west coast if the US, I am always envious of how accessible the various countries and regions of Europe are to Europeans. It's so cool that you are able to just, "up and go" to Herons. Keep it up with the great content!
