- The NXT Championship is a men's professional wrestling championship created and promoted by the American promotion WWE. It is defended as the top men's championship of NXT, the promotion's developmental brand. The current champion is Ethan Page, who is in his first reign. He won the title by defeating previous champion Trick Williams, Shawn Spears, and Je'Von Evans, the latter of whom Page pinned, in a fatal four-way match at Heatwave on July 7, 2024.
Introduced on July 1, 2012, it was the first championship established for NXT, and the inaugural champion was Seth Rollins. In September 2019, WWE began promoting NXT as its "third brand" when the NXT television program was moved to the USA Network. The NXT Championship was referred to as a world championship during this time; however, this recognition was dropped when NXT reverted to its original function as WWE's developmental brand in September 2021. In September 2022, the NXT United Kingdom Championship was unified into the NXT Championship.
For a "development" world title, the NXT title has a crazy strong lineage. Almost everyone that's held it has been a mover and shaker in the industry in the past decade.
To be fair in theory that should be the point. Put the top title on your top prospect on your developmental. Obviously a lot of these wrestlers were already made tho
It seems like the title is becoming just as much of a prestigious title as the WWE Championship is. And that’s a VERY GOOD THING in my book here, man!
@@MADBD619facts, who knows maybe one day they'll see it as more than just a developmental belt and will start considering it as an actual world title, not to discredit it but just saying maybe they'll realize the value in it, still it's pretty cool how almost every holder is either a world champion or become at least a top guy

Hopefully the c.kid Wes lee will be the next nxt championship contender to complete the triple crown including North American and tag team champion if he wins the iron survivor challenge at deadline and go to nxt great American bash next month
