But following the steps you showed, I was able to enable my wireless adapter again. I had even tried previously, going to change adapter setting from the Control Panel. It did not work. Thank you GuruBrew, my son built his first gaming PC with windows 7 and ever since he powered it up it would not register that it was plugged into the cable modem. I watched this video after dancing around it thinking that it was going to have all the misinformation all the others had for this situation. but I was wrong, after I followed your steps I loaded the missing driver from the mother board maker and then installed it. Thanks, Steve. The drivers I needed were for a Dell Inspiron One 2020. So, I went to the official Dell website, searched their driver page for that model, and got the files I needed. Initially, when I clicked "Update Driver", I couldn't understand why the computer wasn't finding the files I'd downloaded. But soon discovered I just needed to double click the drivers to fix the issue.
Ok so I have this problem with this laptop. It's a year old and it's never given me any problems, until now. The problem is that the wifi will work for like a minute, and then stops working. It reads the wifi and shows I'm connected, but won't load up any websites. I know the wifi isn't the problem because I'm using wifi on my phone just fine. What's the solution? Thanks
GuruBrew I don't have any errors/warnings under setup, and I only have a few under application. But I have the most warnings under system, could this be the problem?
Alexis Mendez By any chance are you using Norton security Protection? If so, try disabling it and any other firewall protection you may have other than Windows built in firewall and reboot to see if that corrects the problem. Sounds like a DNS lookup problem to me and possible multiple anti virus/firewall protection products installed fighting to be king. Steve

I have Asus and Windows 10 and it worked, it probably had the wrong driver instaled. When my connection is poor I still have internet, it doesn't just turn off and make my chrome go crazy. Thanx for this informative tutorial! The problem I have in addition to no network is that the usb ports don't work so I can't install the drivers via thumb drive. I'm gonna try doing it by burn them to a disk , then install 'em like that.
Very clear presentation. It served to show that it's not my drivers that are my problem because the computer messaged that i need to install a network controller. Self diagnosis said it was working fine. My entire internet setup was taken out in a couple of nights of storms, and when I tried to set everything up I had no luck, decided my old Linksys WRT54G router was cooked. I bought a Lynksys AC2300 and found I couldn't set it up due the two stage process requiring a better smartphone than I have. After that aborted process I once again gtried to revive my old link and could could only get my XP computer on the internet. The Win7 computer sees the WAN and my Wifi, and ever other WiFi in the neighborhood, but I'm not able to make it actually get access to the internet. I don't know where to start.

This advice is amazing and it worked! I am relatively low-tech, but I with this video I was able to (a) diagnose on my computer that the reason I had no internet access was that there was a problem with the drivers; (b) on a different computer go to the Dell website, locate, and download the needed drivers on a flash drive; (c) upload the drivers feom the flash drive on my computer with the access problems; and (d) open the drivers and get immediate re-acces to the Internet. Since the loss of Internet access came out of the blue with no warning, I am saving this GuruBrew's link in my bookmarks!

Really appreciate the video which helped to fix a very frustrating problem. I used it to reinstall a faulty/damaged driver for Windows 10. The names re Windows 7 have changed (This PC --> Properties-->Device Manager--->Network adapters) but the process is the same.
Video is great. steps easy to follow. My one problem is after I installed the drives (Lan one) I get a WinRaR Diagnostic message telling me there is a write error probably because there is not enough space on the disk. Now I'm stuck. Any Ideas on what I can do next?

Sounds like a software problem. Have you checked the log files for errors? I made a video of that subject if you need help with that.

the driver eventually worked as you suggested although my pc was saying it would not support ... but I still downloaded despite saying that and it worked .. I don't know how.... Thank you very much....
