PTO need to pay you a commission. You have done so much for hyping this race, and your stories last night were 10/10 more entertaining than the coverage. Also, this video is fantastic + put together so quickly?! Legend.
You've done 2 great things with this overview: 1. No spoiler title unlike eurosport and many others crap services 2. A brilliant overview with very precise and deep knowledge of the current situation in sport. THANK YOU!
I was also impressed that he was going and getting drinks for his fellow competitors in the recovery area. That was special as it says a lot about the guy - respect
I was actually surprised at how well Frodo performed after being out of racing for almost 2 years. I would not write him off just yet. With another few months of training, he is certainly a contender for world champion and PTO #1, which is crazy given his age of 41.
in 1977, I was on a team for the Lanai to Maui relay swim race. On my 6 man team were a couple of older Marines. They asked me if I would be interested in participating in something they had conceived and done the previous year. A 2.6 mile ocean swim, a 112 mile bicycle ride and a marathon length footrace. Of course I said no. Knowing these guys were nuts and nobody in their right mind would do such an undertaking. And I was right! Originally on Oahu, these guys started the Triathlon. And the challenge accepted grew so rapidly that it was eventually moved to the Big Island where more participants would encounter less obstacles and congestion. Hats off to those Marines and all Iron Man finishers.
By far ... the best overview of races I´ve ever seen ! No spoilers, bringing emotion to the scene, and commenting things that only true fans would know ! Keep doing it bro !!!! Congrats !
What is amazing, is I watched the whole race and enjoyed it a lot... It hadn't dawned on me how good it actually was until I watched your highlights! Loving your work!
I think he could be someone to equal Ganna's Power Numbers in TT. Would be particularly interesting to see him in Olympic or World Champs TT, as they are longer and probably geared more towards him.
Epic video Jack! I thought the PTO's coverage of Max was really disappointing. Non-existent during the bike leg, almost condescending in the run leg. They obsessed over the norwegian method in the most general, fanboy & girl way that was irritating to listen to. And then comments from the public on instagram were just as ignorant, people have no expectation of him because he's not supported by the media! Anyway, it was very satisfying to see him take that win despite all of that!!
One of the first races I’ve watched start to finish, really enjoyed it. If the PTO could convince all the athletes to transmit live heart rate / power / gps data. This would be an awesome spectator sport. Relying on timing check points seems so outdated and so many times the commentators were behind what was actually happening because they couldn’t see live data.
People need to lay off the commentators a bit. It’s the info they should be fed from the producers that is lacking. Most people in the YT chats have better command of the apps for data but the commentators need be watching and commentating not chasing data sources. That has to come from others and fed to them.
@@rogerc23 from what I could gather they had the exact same info as we did. The next level would be live gps on each athlete so they no exactly where everyone is. Either that or they have one of the commentators just glued to the stats and constantly giving updates on the big movers. The moment when blummenfelt dropped frodeno for example would of been a great tv moment but was completely missed. I’m not bashing on the commentators just suggesting ways the coverage could improve.
@@scottgibson474 yeah I’m not disagreeing. I just feel everyone craps on the commentaries but I’m not sure they get a lot of support. The other big one they missed was Blu passing everyone on the run to take 2nd. For this race I was loving watching until the women started. The whole going back and forth is just annoying and I would rather watch each race separately. They did it as best they could with the timing but I’d just prefer them separate for PTO distance.
@Roger C I read somewhere PTO had cut the broadcasting budget, this did look bad at times compared to other broadcasts with the lack of data, split screens etc.
Nice review. I think the big 3 all delivered and helped build this into an amazing race, added to that Max, Kylie and Magnus. All brought their best on the day and 1 won, just not who most could predicted.
One should keep in mind that Jan Frodeno is 41 years old. Every top 10 performance (especially in a half ironman) of him is an unbelievable achievement.
Best race recap ever! You rock. Sucks that after Collin all I can think is if the guys in front are clean… which is awful to think about. Congrats guys! What a race.
The way max was running after that swim and bike.... that's what you call mutant hemoglobin levels 100% , you cannot run that fast so effortlessly clean. Mouth open not even breathing.
Ripper recap of the biggest race triathlon has ever seen and still pinching myself to have seen Max’s best race of his life, against the best in the world. Take a bow indeed. Aussie triathlon back on top 🙌 can’t wait til world champs 🏆🇦🇺
Imagine having the current Olympic champion and fastest runner in the sport chasing after you and not only managing not to blow up, but actually picking up your pace and winning. Max Neumann is true world class!
People are doing it for Cycling and Running but this is the best independant content for Triathlon - and antipidean! Chapeau! Max Neuman looked a bit good in Kona. With another season and his running laidlow, Ditlev and Brownlee will not want to start the Marathon in Nice with him.
What about when the commentary team asks about Max’s emotions. And rightly so, he drops an F bomb.. They then say, can you not be emotional and watch your language… I was really disappointed in the commentary team for going on about it and shutting him down. Let him speak and then apologise later or beep it out.
Great review. While Alistair Brownlee was one of the best 10k triathlon runners he’s a long way from the best. He’s clocked 28:32 on the track, probably quicker than everyone other than Alex Yee who’s run a staggering 27:51 on the track. Best off the bike- probably, but not the outright fastest.
max i a great triathlete, but from my point of view he has to prove it more than i just 1 simple race. afte the european open open he cancelled im hamburg because of an injury and after that i did not hear anything about him in the great races like challenge roth... but hope to see him in kona this year
Why you keep referring to this as long course triathlon? It's not even a 70.3 distance. Also, disagree with the comments on Jan - he's back from ~2 years of almost inactivity and everyone expected him to struggle more on this shorter distance. Let's see him on the Ironman distance and with some more training in the legs.
Agree’d that it was hyped, but was missing some key North Americans that were racing 70.3 in St George Utah, so the field I felt was lacking in that sense.
Come on, Sam and Lionel are great characters but both would have been 3 minutes plus behind at T1 and never seen again. They're not at this level, though Sam may get there one day if his swim progresses and he can adopt the Magnus race strategy
@@frankmcsharry7386 Lionel and Sam are literally #5 & #6 in the world in PTO rankings 🤷🏼♂️ ahead of the man who won the Ibiza event 🤷🏼♂️ I’ll agree Lionel’s swim is not good, but he more than makes up for it on the bike and run, as has been shown.
All this talk about who’s the GOAT. At the moment the GOAT is Mark Allen. 6x Ironman World Championships. World Olympic Distance Champion. 11x Nice. 21 straight victories in all distances from 1988-90. He’s never mentioned.
Well this race was stacked with names but the greatest race? No way. It did not have enough drama and - more importantly it was no championship. The one day where it really counts in a year so all bring their A-Game. Of course no one of the top guys wanted to show a bad performance, but there is a big difference... Ps: these 100k are no real long course. 😢 why dont they just do a 70.3 distance race. This current shortening is better for the short distance guys...
PTO need to pay you a commission. You have done so much for hyping this race, and your stories last night were 10/10 more entertaining than the coverage. Also, this video is fantastic + put together so quickly?! Legend.

Jack needs to be on the commentary team for these races.
Might have been a bit too biased for this one!
I agree. The official commentators didn't mention Neumann until he overtook Brownlee in the run.
They didn't expect him to win.
Yes please!!!
He needs to replace then
The PTO commentary is lacking. Jack has the love for the sport. It’s a no brainer… Jack is the man.
Ironman in my opinion has way better commentary.
Great recap. You are also a star Jack for giving professional triathlon racing a better media platform. Keep up the good work.
I was also impressed that he was going and getting drinks for his fellow competitors in the recovery area. That was special as it says a lot about the guy - respect
YES
Max did that?
I was actually surprised at how well Frodo performed after being out of racing for almost 2 years. I would not write him off just yet. With another few months of training, he is certainly a contender for world champion and PTO #1, which is crazy given his age of 41.
I think you watched the lord of the rings by accident
LMAO🤣🤣
Can’t wait for the future of PTO! Ironman should be worried!
IM is tragic

Great work mate putting that together so quickly. Excellent race review.
Awesome video! thanks for sharing!
Fantastic post race summary. Your work is so good for the triathlon world! Keep it up!
You are the BEST. What a great race recap 🙌🙏🔥✨
This story-telling in this video is exceptional. Well done!
After watching nearly the whole race, this commentary actually gave me goosebumps. Amazing video and analysis!
Max - just an absolute humble athlete. Tough as nails, honest, hard working and personable. Like it was said “take a bow”. Congrats.
What is amazing, is I watched the whole race and enjoyed it a lot... It hadn't dawned on me how good it actually was until I watched your highlights! Loving your work!
Great video. Thanks.
I have only just found this channel and these videos and the high level of quality is so great !!! Love them please keep them coming!
Feel as much the passion for the sport in the racing guys as in Jack. What a summary! 🎉
I think he could be someone to equal Ganna's Power Numbers in TT. Would be particularly interesting to see him in Olympic or World Champs TT, as they are longer and probably geared more towards him.
Epic recap! Goosebumps!
Dude. Awesome storytelling. I feel like this is the trailer for “Humble, The Max Neumann Story” in theaters fall 2023
Amazing race recap!! Thanks for your amazing content
Most entertaining race recap I’ve seen in decades, great work Jack

Can you do one for the ladies too?
Excellent film. Well done.

Very good commentary. Very good performance.
Great voice Jack!
Could you do some power analysis on this race?
How quickly we forgot daytona where the field blew this one away
I think he’s a bit excited because an Aussie won this one. But it was a great race to watch.
Jack you need to start doing live commentary videos during big races!
All drugged up to the eye balls. Still amazing even with drugs
#jackforPTOcommentator - Epic job Max...
the aussie accent by the narrator hinted at the outcome :)
Great to see an Aussie at number 1. A genuine champion and dark horse in World Champs
Kristian has the ultimate dad bod, but he actually has really solid run efficiency
His post race interview was Strayan af
This race was sublime....everyone there....everyone wanted it.....max won it🎉

2k swim, 80k bike, 18k run
Ironman Hawaii 2006 was at least as exciting. Normann Stadler, McCormack, Faris ... what a joy to watch that was!
Gotta get maxy back on man!!! Legend. Actually tipped him.
WOW!
Best race i would say. Is hands down the 70.3 world champs in south africa.
Bravo Max Newman
