Isn't the first screen of the PS5 HDR Calibration screen meant to be the 100% window/full field white value of your TV? On my ZD9, which is much brighter than any OLED can get on full field white/100% window I set it to 12 clicks which means ~600 nits, why would that screen be set the same as the 10% window screen? Isn't that ~1500 nits for both values? For that matter the S95C can't go to 1500 nits on a 10% window, so is doing this even that pointful if the TV will just tonemap everything all the time?
Hi, on my tv when playing PS5 HDR, with contrast enhancer off the image is too dim. I dont have peak brightness option like yours, so what can i do to brighten the picture? My tv is the samsung QE65Q75BAXXC
Thank you so much for making this video! The image quality looks great. If you set the in-game Brightness to 50, and the Gamma on the TV settings at 0 instead of -1, would it achieve similar results?
Does shadow details option in S95C works the same way as fine tune dark areas in LG OLEDS? Is it flexible as LG's FTDA to compensate black level raise in games like Diablo 4?
I was also looking for that already lol. The HDR sucks on PC! I have taken a useful hint from him though which I should have realised. I already raised the in-game brightness but didn't think to lower my TV's gamma.
Need your help in my s95b when i set the hdr calibration until i cant see the sun anymore The 2/3 its getting brighter by itself everytime i return to the hdr calibration it cant be barely visible or without to sun its just getting brighter brigher itself why
I have an s95c with the same settings. Still the nights in ghost of tsushima for ps5 looks too dark for me. Is that the same for you? with tone mapping on static and contrast enhancer off is looking too dark. I used the 19 clicks on my hdr setting on my ps5 the first two images from the hdr setting, none clicks on the last one. I am playing ghost od tsushima director cut, upgraded from ps4 to ps5. There is no Hdr on/off in the game visual settings, only the brightness. The image of course is in hdr cause I selected the "activate hdr if possible" option from ps5 and my s95c is in hdr game mode (hdr on basic). Any advices how can I improve that brightness image? I dont want to use contrast enhancer cause it ruins the colours and the artistic design of the game.
Looks fantastic. I prefer the zoomed in perspective without the ambient lights in the frame though. Gives some more sharpness when watching on my phone and my phone is actually the most powerful HDR display since my G1 is capped at 800 nits. Not for long though because I‘m pretty sure at this point that I wanna upgrade to the S95C as well. If only the price of the 77“ would drop a little fast 😁 Do you notice better gradation in skies and other areas when gaming compared to the G2? I really don‘t get why LG messes up the gradation so bad on their recent OLEDs…
I don't think your phone screen goes to 800 nits in the same way a TV-sized OLED does but even if it does Phone-sized OLED screens are poor at near black handling vs. TV-sized OLEDs so you can't really compare them, watch a video with near black fading into pure black, like the shots of them walking through the ships corridors in Alien or LG's QNED 8K Jewels HDR demo and you'll see black crush and just general blocky near blacks. TL;DR your G1 is better for watching HDR videos than any phone OLED display I know of. In my experience gradient handling is worse on Samsung than LG so I don't think S95C would be better than G1/G2. Samsung has quite poor image processing compared to LG, let alone Sony, Panasonic and Philips. If you want the best gradient handling you need to look at the A95K/L. I know the K was much more expensive than S95B but the A95L is supposedly much more competitive in price vs. the S95C.
Did you check for vertical or horizontal hdr banding with game’s that have greyish colors because almost every tv has vertical banding issues with Hdr where with certain light colors you get vertical bars going up and down all the way across the display and it’s been an issue with almost all television sets for a very long time including the most expensive ones
Hi. I got my s95c 2 days ago. First thing I did I copy pasted these settings. I do not know why but I do not nearly get the same picture you do, especially in terms of brightness. Turning off contrast enhancer makes the image so dim I cannot believe. Energy saving settings are off so it cannot be the problem.
@@beammeupscottsp7952 I think active tone mapping is too much. Me personally I use it on static and contrast enhancer to low. Of course maximum brightness and contrast. This makes more than enough brightness and still accurate picture. Try it. But at the end of the day, use was suits your taste.

Other than that mistake in his video of just talking too fast and going through things too fast, I read the video a four out of five.
I thought it just forced HDR 10+ over the games though, similar to how Apple TV allows you to either force Dobly Vision or HDR 10+ (if your TV supports those formats)
I dont know how much is the TV, my phone, or the youtube HDR mastering but these latest HDR videos are very punchy and awesome on my samsung S22 Ultra.
