    Part 1 of 2
    www.TrueCrimeGarage.com
    On December 23rd, 1974, three girls from three different families set out on a shopping trip to purchase Christmas gifts for their friends and family. They piled in the car and drove off to south Fort Worth, Texas. They were supposed to be home by 4pm but they never returned... The mystery surrounding their disappearance continues to confound law enforcement officials. For some, time stopped on that December day. For others, the tragedy created a seedbed of suspicion that now divides. To this day this case remains a riddle with no answers. Tonight we crack a few cold ones and take a look at a cold case, that is heating up again.

    Sweet Honesty was a perfume popular in the 70’s. My guess is the shirt was a promotional shirt. I had a shirt that said Charlie, which was also a popular perfume at that time. I wore Charlie perfume and bought the promotional shirt. The one I had was like T-shirt material. People who didn’t know about Charlie perfume would call me Charlie thinking I had a shirt printed with my name.

      I had this shirt. It was from Avon. My mother bought it for me from the Avon lady, along with the perfume.

    The reason the jeans were purchased at the Army Navy surplus store was because, at that time there was a brand/style of hip-hugger, bell bottom jeans that were only sold at the surplus stores.
    I was an 17-18 yr old girl from Dallas at the time and I wore that brand/style of jeans. They were the huge hit among teens at the time.

      What if it was someone from the surplus store that saw them or worked there? I wonder if the police ever went there or questioned them. The girls were probably laughing, talking, may have said they were going to the mall, or the person followed them from there.

    "Captain" accidently said the 9 yr. was the 17-yr. old's (Rachel's) boyfriend's sister. She was actually the 14-yr. old's (Rene's) boyfriend's sister.
    The 17-yr. old (Rachel) was married to her older sister's ex-boyfriend.

    The first place they went to. The Army navy shop. Was probably where the person who abducted them first laid eyes on them. Probably followed them to the shopping centre.
    The mother said. She received a phone call Said she heard a moan. And said who is this and the girl said momma. The mother asked where she was and the girl didn’t know. Mother said Julie was about to say something else and the phone was hung up.

      Can see that, someone saw the eldest girl at the army store (assuming that the other two girls waited in the car or was out of sight at that moment) and decided to follow them, possibly parked nearby, stalked the girls through out their shopping trip and either abducted them once they got back to the car or earlier in the mall under the guise of a security officer or mall employee. I still think theres something in the letter that can hint at something the investigators missed.

    Julie was my 2nd cousin. I was with my Great Aunt Ruth that holiday and she told me my cousin had been kidnapped. We never learned anything else. I was 14 and I will be 64 in a couple of weeks so this Christmas it will be 50 yrs.

    My thoughts on the letter-- Tommy said he found it in his mailbox. No way to prove that. Letter references "We" but doesn't specify WHO. "See you in a week"--Nope. No 9 year old or teens are going to miss Christmas. No older girls are going to leave town with a kid. Um..kidnapping charges? Heck no. This letter was written previously by Rachel in reference to her & Tommy intended for her parents..likely never given to them. Now he's passing this off as a "we ran away" bullsh*t letter. Probably knows someone with postal machine? Wouldn't the post office be super busy or even closed for the holidays? He said he couldn't remember if it was sealed or not. The full name of Tommy is used to distance self. To imply a professional relationship. Houston and the postal code to also distance. I think something was planned to hurt Rachel..but the person did not anticipate Renee and Julie with her. "I know I'm going to catch it"--to your husband? Is he abusive? When you're writing "we" are going away, your husband is initially going to think you ran away with a man..until he finds out you're with females. hmm

    I worked for the Post Office. It would have gone out the same day if the individual walked into the Post Office and brought it to the counter and handed it to the clerk on duty. If the carrier for that route hadn't left for his deliveries yet the clerk would have handed the envelope to them to go out that day. We had a little stamp thing attached to our cases where we could cancel the stamp manually. So the clerk at the time could of seen the suspect and never even realized it.
    Or, there was also those in town slots you could drop off letters. He probably did it the night before and the clerk issued it to the carrier that morning. I believe he's a local. Had them hidden some where. Had to throw off the scent.

    I'm curious as to what time(s) the eyewitnesses saw the events they witnessed. One unidentified woman who only spoke with a store clerk saw "men" ushering them into a pickup. Another witness saw the girls in a pickup truck not looking like they were under duress. And another came out in 1981and said he saw a man force a girl ( not girls but singular girl if I understood correctly ?) And as he approached was told it's a family dispute don't get involved. What time(s) did they see these things happen ? I'm not sure if I'm getting my witnesses confused but yet another said they saw the girls in a mall security vehicle. Let's assume all witnesses really saw what they claimed. Let's also assume that one or multiple witnesses didn't mispeak and did not confuse a pick up for a van or a van for a security van. Let's just say all witness statements are accurate. How can that be ? How can one see them in a truck another in a van and yet another I'm a security van? What if there were multiple offenders. What if the security guard van was used as a ruse and a way to get the trusting and probably naive girls into a vehicle and from that point 1 and or 2 accomplices took 1 girl in a van and another took a girl in a pickup and so on. The fact that multiple witnesses saw different types of vehicles baffles me. I would love to know what the time line was of these sightings by the witnesses. I'm only half way thru video 1 perhaps that question gets answered but in all that I've listened to and read on this disappearance previously I don't believe the question of what time did these witness sightings occur were ever answered I could be wrong and if I missed that info and someone could provide me those answers I'd appreciate that. Furthermore going in a totally separate direction I find it odd how Thomas/ Tommy divorced Rachel 2 years after her disappearance and moved to one of the 3 towns police believe the letter came from via the postmark Throckmorton. Over a 2 hour drive away. Texas an awfully big place what are the odds Tommy moved to Throckmorton of all places. Did he have ties to Throckmorton ?

      Yes, it is a shame that the eyewitness accounts are far from waterproof. Where any of them followed up by the Police ?
      It is also a pity that there was no purchases from the Mall in the car also. Did they even make it as far as the Mall ? Perhaps, something happened to the girls elsewhere and the car was 'staged' at the Mall.
      The 'Runaway' Letter pretty much rules out 'stranger' abduction, IMO. The perp(s) goofed there !!

    According to Stephanie Harlowe's channel-- Rachael was married and her husband had recently divorced a woman whom he had a child with. The present in the car was the one present Rachael and her husband bought for his son. Somehow plans changed and now his son would be spending the night on Christmas eve with his Dad and Rachael so they wanted to get more presents for under the tree since Santa would be coming to their house and the son would be waking up at their house. I have no idea why the shopping wasn't done by the Mom and she didn't bring the presents to their house or why plans changed so late. Also, the jeans purchase from the Army Navy store was the only purchase in the car plus the one christmas gift purchased previously. I don't think there were any gifts purchased from the mall in the car. It seems like never came out of the mall or never went in. It's interesting that no clerks saw them shopping or purchasing anything. No credit cards used? If they were shopping for a child, you'd think they'd head for the closest KB Toy store or Toys R us.

    • @johnflood500
      @johnflood500 Рік тому +4

      I wonder if they even made it as far as the Mall. There is nothing concrete to put them there that day. I think the car could have been 'staged' there by the perp(s).

    • @laurieclarkson9180
      @laurieclarkson9180 Рік тому +2

      @@johnflood500 I have wondered about that too! We know they made it to the army store and after they came out they put Renee's jeans in the trunk. Back then, many car trunks could only be opened with a key so Rachel would either unlock the trunk for Renee (while standing beside her) or Rachel could give the key to Renee while Rachel and little julie got in the car?? I was wondering if you have three young girls standing by an open trunk (and back then trunks were big) Could someone have forced the 3 girls into the trunk without anyone seeing? But then the perp would've had to come back for his own car and ditch their car at the mall--and be lucky enough to know the spot Rachel typically parked?? and know they planned to go to the mall?? Seems like the boyfriend would be most likely suspect. idk??

    You could still get pickups with bench seats back then, and even with bucket seats, someone often rode on the console between the seats. In that time people would often sit in someone else's lap too. It was popular then too for fraternities to pack Volkswagen "bugs" with as many people as possible. You could easily fit 2 men (1 by each door) & 1 girl in the middle with a 2nd. girl on her lap onto a bench seat & the 3rd. girl on the lap of a 2nd. man sitting by the passenger door. Everyone wasn't wearing seat belts w/ shoulder staps all the time, & sitting in bucket seats, as they are now. We often fit 2 guys in bucket seats with 1 girl in the lap of the guy in the passenger seat & another girl on the console in Corvettes.
    So no big problem fitting 2 men & the 3 girls in a pickup, even without a rear seat(s).

    Hi all, the age difference is a different i guess, but maybe the young child looked upto Rachel? we all tagged along with older family members so it seems legit to me. The Maura Murray case is not a 'ive decided to leave' or Brian's case, im actively following Miss Murray 's case, i am aware young Adam's case was solved. It is way more difficult without the use of social media way back then. I agree a con was involved as it happens so often, im a Agent for a modelling agencie! Coming forawrd after 5 years is bs false memories ect. I hope this cold case among others in solved, I can not imagine the pain the families endure.

    I think there is a clue in the letter. Especially with psychics calling and pushing themselves into the case. I think she did write it but under duress. She was probably pretty smart and knew to make it look odd. Back in that time people used the word seer in place of fortune tellers and “I know I’m going to catch it” “but we had to get away” a hint towards a security guard and a seer. Two men forcing three girls into a vehicle. Girls held at gun point possibly. That would explain their silence. Glen Samuel McCurley worked for the postal service and had access to postal stamping equipment. His hunting grounds were all around that area and he even had previous addresses I weatherford, azle, aledo and benbrook. As well as driving a postal truck to other cities. The seer’s telling the families where they will find the girls bodies. I’m curious if Mr j Joseph psychic from Dallas is the seer and involved with Glen McCurley Carla walker case or if this Bill Hutchinson that came forward later on was involved. I read somewhere that he had worked security at a mall in California where 2 girls also vanished from a mall in almost the same manor. And he then moved to fort worth shortly afterwards. Maybe there are three of them who knows! Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think it was only one but I do believe the calls from these so called psychics and the information they gave to the families were actually real clues to where the girls bodies would be found. Clues only the killers would know! If I’m way off the trail I do apologize!

      Honestly you could be right with something being in the letter, maybe it was Rachel under distress or one of the other girls who signed it Rachel cause their captor told her to. If it was one of the other girls could also explain the weird error in Rachels name (this could also be evidence that their captor wrote it mimicking her style of writing/ cursive) or any other spelling mistakes. The backwards 3 on the letter still baffles me, was it written backwards or was stamped backwards? if it was stamped it shouldve been upside down too.

    I’ve reported this on two or three occasions and I reported it to the detective that had the case about six or seven years ago and then I had reported it around the same time or maybe a few months after to the middle girls brother and I gave them both the names and the approximate location of where the bodies would have been destroyed
