I just got the Omega 10049 and was expecting a prickly brush but was surprised to find it quite soft. My first boar brush and I really like it. Great for lathering Mitchell’s Wool Fat. 👍
Great point on boar hair vs badger. I have a cheap boar brush which I use more than my expensive badger brush. I feel that boar gets better over time the more you use it.
My Omega 10098 is my favorite brush of all my collection of badger, boar, synthetic and horse hair brushes. Omega's are always at a great price point and as Matt said, when they develop split ends they get even better. I think every beginning wet shaver should start off with an Omega Boar Brush. Thank you for all your interesting and informative videos Matt, I watch every one of them!
Literally just bought an Omega 11648 and some shave soap and bowl… i have been wanting to wet shave for the longest. Got some WCS vanilla chai and ariana & evans bois de vanille 🤓 Took a long time to settle on the brush i ended up with.
Thanks Matt for another great video!! I've been thinking about getting one for a lil bit. I currently only have synthetic and would love to pick one up.
Omega Pro 48 is a great brush. came with no smell, its lost maybe 10 hairs in the last 6 months. Almost to big is the only downside. still love it tho.
Ah, I need to get that travel brush for my business travels next year! I am enjoying watching all of videos in order from your earliest. I also watch your new ones every Friday. Great learning the history, Thanks!👍😄
I recently bought a boar shaving brush cost me almost $10 in India. I coudnt bought omega one as amazon was charging import duty on it which making it cost almost triple the price of any omega brush. I soaked it in soft water, rub it in towel did this process for almost two weeks. Tried superlathering, uber lathering, but this brush was just eating all the lather. I am very dissatisfied with this brush. It has split ends now alot. Still it will just eat all lather. What should I do with it, any suggestions are welcome.
If you keep having the same problem... only 5 mins at max at hot water before using, squeeze it hard the water, use it only with hard soaps like triple press soaps (tabac for example), and charge them well, do a big load in the brush like 40-45 seconds of charge, then make a good lather for about 4-5 minutes
Omega 10049 is the choice of barbers in many parts of the world. They work very well. They're affordable and they last a very long time.

I own two Omegas. The 4P and 5wood. Boar and horse are my favorite brushes. Thanks Matt.

I've always used semogue. Does the Pro 48-49 have the ability to become as soft as a Semogue 2000??
I have an Omega Boar brush and I love it. Took some time to break in. But once broken in, its a great feeling brush
I got a parker boar brush and it's not lathering well at all, whats the problem???
You need a thorough clean, sometimes they absorb the soap and that is not good for lathering.
Thanks for the vlog Matt!
I have several boars hair brushes and they all serve me well. Great lathers every time.

Love my Omega 10098 and Proraso Pro Boar Brushes! The Omega-S Synthetic is great too, it acts like a boar brush.
Wish my boar brush was more coarse sometimes does the hair length make a difference?
Not a whole lot
I just bought an Omega Boar Brush and I love it.

Hard or soft water?
@@RazorEmporium water is fine, my razorock synthetic is lathering great with little shave cream, are boar brushes just worse at lathering??!!
Let it soak in warm-hot water for the exact period of time the water gets cold. An important factor is also that the hairs need to be softened.
Badger and boar are both great, it just depends on what your looking for.

Boar brushes are king for me. I have several high end badgers, give me a boar any day. I prefer Semogue.

@@cloudrojo I recently bought Omega brush 13522, its working good. Its just that, bristles are very prickly even when so many hairs are now split.
no brush is going to be able to dig out my ingrown hairs.. but if it can prevent them now that would be something.
Lefty Hara sometimes ingrowns can be hairs that are flat and prone to growing in if not prepped properly first (lifting them up)
