I remember vividly watching this with my family. When LeBron made that shot, everyone went berserk! It was basically the first time I ever saw LeBron play and I’ve been a fan ever since. Great memories!
The 2009 Orlando Magic are an underrated and forgotten team. A 59-win team lead by (arguably) the best big man in the league at the time Dwight Howard with a supporting cast of Rashard Lewis, Hedo Turkoglu, J.J. Redick, Mickael Pietrus, and Rafer Alston. 2nd in 3s made, 2nd in 3s attempted, 7th in 3pt %, and 1st in defensive rating. They finished the 2009 postseason 1st in 3s made, 1st in 3s attempted, and 3rd in defensive rating. They should be remembered as a part of Dwight Howard's legacy, not a footnote in LeBron's. There was so much hype for a Kobe vs. LeBron Finals matchup that not many people considered them to be a real threat, and they proved a lot of people wrong.
One of my favorite teams ever. Turkoglu and Lewis played some really good basketball that post-season. I wish Jameer would've been healthy in the Finals playing alonside Alston.
@@cmn225 And don't forget that series was close even though it was 5 games. Magic lost Game 2 because Pau Gasol's goaltending wasn't called at the end of regulation; Magic win Game 3; Dwight misses two free throws at the end of Game 4 that would've sealed the game. The Lakers could've easily been trailing 1-3.
This is the game where I got to witness the first game winning buzzer beater that I watch live whether on TV or now in League Pass. Too bad the Magic still won the series in 6 and I actually picked the Cavs but you know it happened.
I remember watched this with my father in his last months before parkinsonim (he could't walk anymore and he was in bed until his dead six years later). Midnight here in Peru and we both were watching this amazing match. From this moment, I'm a Lebron James Fan and I love Cleveland Cavs.
LeBron James catches the in-bounds pass and nails a 3-pointer over Hedo Turkoglu as time expires to give the Cleveland Cavaliers a 96-95 win over the Orlando Magic in Game 2 of the 2009 Eastern Conference finals. The impact that LeBron had on Cleveland, Ohio can never ever ever be understated. The 2009 finals... The Kobe vs LeBron final is forever gonna be one of the biggest "what if" in sport history
“Mo Williams will throw in. Richard Lewis playing off the ball. Lewis, gets it to LeBron, for 3 for the win YES! LeBron James At The Buzzer! As The Cavaliers, have pulled it off to tie the series, and What a Miraculous Shot by James!” - Marv Albert!
That 66-win Cavs team had a combined record of 5-10 against the other 3 top teams in the NBA (Lakers, Celtics, Magic) that season and postseason. The very definition of a snow job.
Yeah, they were overachievers for sure. LeBron carried them vs. the bottom feeders and average teams of the league, but great teams are great teams. No one man show is beating them in a 7 game series.
Just imagine LeBron with Paul Gasol and Lamar Odom LMAO like people really like to talk about LeBron’s first seven years of his career you give him a team like Kobe had and nobody is stopping him even Tim Duncan said at the age of 22 It took four or five guard him to shut him down at the age of 22 just let that sink in
WOW, you are such a LeFraud mark. LeFraud would've chocked somehow with no matter who his teammates were. Kobe would've won with LeFraud Cavs teams from 2009-2010.
Thank you to LeBron & JJ for getting this classic uploaded by the people running the NBA's official channel after referencing it in their latest podcast episode.
It's mainly because many people expected to see the Cavs against the Lakers in the Finals that year, namely LeBron vs. Kobe. The NBA was running commercials about a potential Finals showdown between them. It was so hyped that nobody actually thought about whether or not the Cavs were actually good enough to get there, and Orlando proved that they were not. The Cavs' frontcourt could not contain Dwight or slow the Magic's 3-pt shooting. LeBron did have his struggles in this series at certain points, but even when he played well, Orlando just found a way. However, since context seems to not matter anymore, LeBron gets most of the blame.
