  • This video demonstrates the sound of the plugged in Martin DCXE HPL/cardboard/plastic guitar. Compared with a somewhat cheaper Morgan W 310 SCE. Also demonstrated with a cheap crappy transducer pickup, and a Dean Markley ProMag soundhole pickup.
I hope this help anyone thinking of buying this guitar. It's not a stupid buy if you need something durable for traveling etc. The pure unplugged acoustic sound however; well, ill mic it up for you in another video.

The DCXE is an awesome guitar. I've had mine for 12 or 13 years. Plays awesome, sounds awesome. For the price, it doesn't get much better. Also, It made that Morgan sound like a tin can...

If you live in a super dry hot desert climate like Arizona, New Mexico or Mexico, this Martin is a great guitar because the lack of proper humidity won't affect the sound quality like a traditional wood would be affected. This is the one reason for a composite guitar like this Martin over a wood guitar. It's a no-brainerbfor dessert climates, where it's 100 degrees or more in day, & drops to the 40's at night. A regular guitar can't withstand such extremes for long. If you wanted to do a proper comparison, you'd have to move with your wooden guitars & your composite Martin to a hot dry dessert climate, then see what the traditionals sound like after a year or two, compared to the unchanged/unaffected sound quality of this composite Martin...Then you'd understand!

It's a no brainer for me because its not glossy black so it wont be a fingerprint magnet but my gosh does it sound good plugged in. My taylor 110e didn't sound this good.

I live in western Canada on the prairies and its DRY AF here. I have this guitar and man after 15 years its still a great guitar. Ive actually noticed the last time I restrung it that Ive started to wear out the fretwires its had so much use haha.

Everything flat, straight in to the sound-card and no effects. Still there may be som distort in the soundcard preamp that i dont know off.

+Das Keks I believe its just picking at random chords. Its quite a while since i made the video, so its hard to remember. Maybe the first two chords remind you of Hurt? The CMay7 to C, followed by Asus2 to Am (i think) is something i figured out on my own, possibly unconsciously inspired by something, idk :P
