Wow, his answer about how the thought of people's conceptions of him never crosses his mind due to them being completely counter-intuitive to the creative process really blew my mind. Never thought of it like that
Great interview. Fabulous probing questions of stuff we really want to know about. Not the typical media fluff. Deep personal insights that provoke introspective thoughts. Anthony Green is refreshing in his honesty.
When he said he's been listening to the queens of the stone age album for a year and a half, I felt so relieved. I've had Descensus in my car since the day it came out. That only changed for the week that I had to drive my wife around. (She got tired of listening to it on repeat.) As soon as she got out though, Descensus went right back in. I jam to it constantly. I spend hours laying on my hammock with it on repeat. I've loved bands and had them on repeat before, but this is the only ALBUM that I've ever listened to end to end for 4 months strait. And I don't see that 4 month streak ending any time soon...
John Riddler that's a tough question honestly. I think I'd have to actually say the title track "descensus" though. The vocal break gets me every time. The beat is just so driving that it gets stuck in my head. If it gets stuck and I don't hear it, I can't stop repeating it. I'll actually kinda skat it sometimes, which just pisses off everyone around me. Lol
Ryan P hopefully you read this man. I agree 100%. I cannot stop jamming their latest album, I was beginning to worry if I was over doing it, but it feels so great to know that you love it just as much. You rock!!
2:10 YES!!!! I totally agree. Blue Sky Noise is what drew me into the "album experience." I listened to it start to finish dozens of times. Also, in the past few years, I realized how our "material" culture has shifted toward immaterial possessions as digital media continues to improve. Buying a vinyl is kinda like getting a trophy for having the best taste in music, and you can get that reward every payday!
my dude. seriously, it really is refreshing to see someone with the relative level of status that Anthony has just be a real person for a few minutes. I've been to shows where he walks out after and gets a line that forms for people who just want their photo taken with him and he just is grateful for them coming and obliges them ALL.
I've seen Circa preform 4 times & each time is so special. I love this band & I love Anthony Green so much. They've helped me grow through trials & tribulations time & time again. Forever grateful for their service.
I would love to play music with him ... By far one of my favorite musicians , and deserves a reward for best singer ... His music has helped me through alot of pain.
Great answer on the first question. I think music is in the best place in the history of mankind because of the Internet. So many great bands that music fans can reach very easily. Loving it!
The experience of having someone look you in the face and sing to you, that intensity, I had a year or so ago for the first time. It was at Disrupt Festival in Tampa and it was none other than Anthony Green. I felt so odd saying it but there was such a strong connection. Not person to person per say, but a connection to the music around and everyone was plugged in. It rocked my world in the best way possible. So authentic and you could just feel it. It was real music, real art, and that can't be faked. It was Act Appalled and as soon as they started playing it, I ran up close to the stage. Damn man, just thank you. Thank you for that experience. @15:44
one of the best interviews i've ever watched! thank you so much for putting up the full interview, i loved every minute of it. subscribed and am now watching the rest of your interviews!
I been with them since juturna and I appreciate all the growth they have got done, every album is unique in it's own way and I had the pleasure of meeting Anthony Green & was able to have a one on one conversation of all the hardship that have happened to him while making the all the albums ♡
Great interview. And to those who commented about his verbiage - please be grateful to hear the interview in its entirety (as stated at the beginning) and that it wasn’t edited, let alone over-edited, to where responses tend to get misconstrued. Thanks!
Watching this during the 2020 pandemic and wanted to echo everyone’s comments... this is a fantastic interview. Had this not had the date posted I’d believe this was done recently.
I couldn't stop for a second counting all the times Anthony Green said "You Know" throughout the whole interview. And not that I could actually keep up with it, I lost count lol however, awesome interview.
Everything he said about vinyl ❤ just yes. Vinyl and good speakers is the BEST way to listen to music it sounds so raw and just 😩 especially when dropping
You see! This is a real artist! This is where you take a look at music in surely a great and horrible thing, it could be everything to anyone in this world and that's what he explains here and you cannot get this kind of answer from fucking kellin Quinn or fucking Andy biersack, they'll never ever have the creativity and open world in mind than Anthony here. It just amazes me and I will forever continue to support circa survive because they are a group like no other! Much love from me to you Circa!
This is a true musician, compared to interviews with nikki minaj or other more popular artists this is so different. I'm a musician just not famous- and that doesn't bother me. I love playing music simply for the chills you get when you make a killer song with your friends and everything fits together...or playing a live show and seeing someone totally rocking out to something you made and connecting with it. It's truly an indescribably rewarding experience and something so uplifting, deep..I just can't say enough bout how much it means to me when I create something like that and seeing people react and FEEL the music the way I do when I'm writing or playing it. Music is really magical and transcendent in that way.
Reading this comment is inspiring me to start writing and playing music seriously again. It's been rough having the motivation because I've been dealing with increasingly extreme depression and anxiety for a few years now, but listening to this interview and reading your comment has given me some much needed encouragment to make and play some much needed therapeutic music.
@@LabGoats Get on those instruments and let your feelings out, take it out on them and put it to some notes. Even if it doesn't exactly come together it doesn't matter. If nothing else like you said it's therapeutic and if you're gifted to be able to put your emotions into music even if you're the only one who's ears will hear it =]
well said ANTHONY GREEN! WELL DONE. GREAT MUSICIAN AND YOUR A COOL DUDE BRUH. YOUR AN INSPIRATION AND YOUR TRACK: "KICKING YOUR KROSSES DOWN" is one of the Best Songs from your band: Circa Survive!!!!!
It would be pretty divine to see Anthony Green doing some songs with Trance artists like Gareth Emery. Some of Gareth's emotional songs like "Long Way Home" or "Sansa" remind me of old Saosin in the feeling you get from hearing it, even tho they're completely different genres of music.
Such a great and humble/realistic/responsible (?) guy... Gotta love him. I'd sure like to hear more "advice" and answers, even if I'd be disappointed hehe. Tho I'd prefer if he had mentioned overpopulation when he was asked about family ;|
Recently I remember him yelling at the crowd to dance because it feels good. He was pissed though! Now I understand why. This generation sucks. They don't know how to enjoy music like it should be enjoyed. I totally understand why he reacted the way he did and agree with him. He talks about when he was young and how he danced like crazy during shows, you can still see him do that during his performance. That part of him never died, and he just wants the younger generations to enjoy music as much as he did when he was their age.
I love anthony and everything love circa to the death of me but i couldnt even watch the video past the second question answer. Omg I would have gone insane if I heard one more "you know"
he's spitballing, not reading from a script or some shit like that. you try doing an interview like this and see if you sound like you're giving a nobel prize acceptance speech
This interview is beyond sick for so many reasons (SUCH unique questions that show his character and a side people never see), but you probing when he wouldn’t answer if he felt old or not and that leading to what it did was really sick.
The reason people only listen to singles is because we've become so accustom to being gratified instantaneously, must artist being away of that notion take advantage of the masses creating an album of shit with one good song but not you, your entire albums are gratifying and a pure, they seem to be apart of you and for that reason people can connect with your music in a way that seems unreal.
Lolol I fucking love him..seems sober Try having someone sing your diary to you as you walk out of target..really blows you mind lol....I couldn't imagine having this obsessed fake love linger and hang over my head everyday.... Swarms of people wanting to look at you like you're some animal in a cage at the zoo...dont get me wrong alot of ppl truly love him and not even green himself will ever really know how much hes touched ppl
Samantha Falzarano were you clean while watching the interview or do you just like to unjustifyingly positioning yourself above humanity? Why don't you Google your way out of the conundrum of watching an interview with an artist which you don't favor? Wouldn't that have at the minimum saved you the time it took to formulate then compose such a self righteous righteous response which you hoped would make you appear to be witty and calculated but in reality would showcase your lack of practicality and emotional intelligence?
Man thats some great hair.
Yeah right
I’m jealous
His voice is SO connected even when he speaks. You can hear the overtones coming out in octaves all over the place, absolutely nuts
Anthony just wants to make sure that we know...

lmao WE DO
Circa survive is a part of my nostalgia.

I really loved the question you gave him at 12:30 and I love Anthonys response; "I think there's more of a risk of taking yourself to seriously."
I've seen Circa preform 4 times & each time is so special. I love this band & I love Anthony Green so much. They've helped me grow through trials & tribulations time & time again. Forever grateful for their service.

So inspirational Anthony! You keep me alive when I'm feeling down true vibes
So funny when he says the part about going to shows with glasses. I was at a Circa Survive show head banging when they flew off and got crushed lol
Watching this during the 2020 pandemic and wanted to echo everyone’s comments... this is a fantastic interview. Had this not had the date posted I’d believe this was done recently.
your take on asking is how it should be... keep it open and real !
Michal Zdunek thank you! It definitely helps by interviewing bands that you are passionate and curious about.
Anthony Green you're still young, very young!. Nice interview !
So humble ♡
I admire him so much. He inspires me musically and in many other aspects. :)
everytime I listen to anthony or kurt I get them chills
Such a great honest soul. Will always be an idol as far as following your heart and doing what you love.

Thanks for the support!
Awesome interview, great things to say!
His comment at 9:00 is amazing. All artists should feel this way about their music.
Really awesome to get a liiiiittle tiny insight on the records and Anthony's point of view. The mood/feeling of the interview is relatable.
Awesome interview, thanks for this!

Drinking game: have a sip everytime Anthony says you know
Anthony "you know" Green
I can totally hear the QoTSA influence in Descensus now. Cool shit!
Great interview

Circa survive since 2005 🤟
I get the chills listening to flesh and bone, that weird feeling.
When you said "funny music video" I was really confused. That stuff was terrifying.

Good question about the cellpone, i saw his reaction on live show wid pone on his face

I thought this was a Circa interview. This is an Anthony Green interview. It's good. Watch it. But it's only AG.

I feel like I'm listening to John Conner from Terminator 2 which is great
How many times does Anthony say you know? XD somebody give me a number
Great questions. Why was Anthony kind of hostile? lol
He didn't come off as hostile to me at all. Just up front and honest.
hey random but what kind of camera are you guys using for this interview?
better come back to fuckin san antonio TX circa !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
man they were awesome last night it was an amzing experience, rx bandits and citizen were amazing too
At 15:14 it really takes a whole lot from a musician to say and admit that.
no i dont know, thanks anthony
heh the way he says "after" makes me laugh
This interview sounds like it's in a hospital! But it's cool c: And Anthony looks great for being 32!

Anthony is not having it at the beginning of this interview
This is a Anthony Green interview..not a Circa Survive interview.i enjoyed it still.
What if I told you that Anthony Green is the lead singer of Circa Survive? MIND BLOWN
