The general rule in my house is to remain as African as possible as I relate to my in-laws. Keep distance and safe boundaries. No discussing anything apart from if they want to know about their nephews and nieces. No spending more than 6 hours straight with them. I am only married to their daughter, not the whole family. Since it is my mother-in-law is the senior most alive, we only talk on the phone for not more than 10 minutes only when it is necessary and even when we meet physically, it is when I visit because they do not visit me in my house. It has been working well so far!
