I understand now, I time stamped the beginning of the run to which the riders finished the climb, that way people could enjoy watching the whole climb from the beginning.

yup i raced motocross in my youth, &.a lot is the grooves they cut/dig w the tires on the bike. so a lot is what you have said and the rest is when your run is.... Too early and the ruts are rough.!! . to late = to deep ,, especially to steer out a bit !! ""Adrenalin"" me like E
90% of these guys need to take a lesson or two with Graham Jarvis on how to climb over a rocky ridge on an enduro/motocross bike. thats whats stopping them. all that momentum gone when they hit the ledge.
This video and this event totally kill! Those two guys are heroes. They give them both keys to the city or something else symbolic of their achievement. So many failures. So many prepared and determined riders getting instantly launched away from their machines just at the last few vertical feet before the peak. I would consider it a success if I didn't break my body and bike or have to watch my bike tumble end over end into some inattentive people at a vending booth waiting for brie and grape juice. Skill, talent, and luck. And then somebody else noted that both winners were riding on the regular, slimmer, moto-x, knobby tires. I don't think there was a winning path either. Every one of that last 10 feet from the ribbon of rock and above, was treacherous. The literal wall. Those two guys had the formula for success. And maybe some Trump-sized dumb luck.
Sam Evans + Whoever designed the top ledge and vertical knew exactly what doing, making it almost impossible. Great hill, France. And some really good runs.
its funny how well the big bore 4-strokes make it up if u put some balls into it. sure its hard to make it up but proves u dont need a roadbike engine to make it up.
