This film takes viewers on a tour through Brazil in the 1960’s. It opens with shots of a massive waterfall and a rainbow cutting through it (:18). It is presented by Pan American (:27), narrated by Murillo Neri (:47), and produced by Ernst L Foss (:47). Brazil is pictured to cover nearly half of South America (1:11). The Iguazu Falls are pictured (1:20). The combined flow of the individual falls makes this the largest waterfall in the world. It’s height exceeds that of the Niagara Falls and it is twice as wide. The coastline of Rio follows (1:35). A Pan American passenger plane unloads it’s tourists (2:30). The modern skyscrapers of the city of Rio de Janiero follows (2:52). Rio is known to be the most beautiful city in South America. Theatro Municipal (3:01) is pictured with intricate architecture situated in the Centro district. It was erected in the early 20th century. The Pan American terminal at the airport follows (3:16). Pedestrians move through a busy train station some carrying colorful flower arrangements (3:41). Fashionable female sunbathers soak in rays along the shore line (3:56). A cable car takes riders to the top of Sugarloaf (5:27). The massive statue of Christ is pictured erected atop Corcovado (5:57). In April of 1500 Pedro Alvares Cabral first sighted the Brazilian coast and claimed it for his own (6:25). The city spread outwards as gold hunters would build around the areas where gold was located (7:11). A statue sits in the old ‘gold rush town’ of Ouro Preto (7:16). The city features well preserved Portuguese colonial architecture. Constructed by Aleijadinho is the Church of St. Francis Assisi (7:40). Farm workers head out in the early morning hours at a coffee plantation (8:25). Coffee was considered to be the new gold for Brazil leading to an industrial boom. The beans are laid out under the sun (10:00). The cash crop is then loaded onto ships for transport (10:38). The modern city of Sao Paulo features architecture of the neo-Gothic Era to the 1920’s (11:07). Artwork of Brazil’s colonial time is viewed (12:13). Locals and guests enjoy a vibrant fair (12:36). Other attractions include a horse racing track (13:07), water parks (13:21), 4,000 miles of sea coast (13:51) and golf courses (14:05). Vacationers enjoy music and refreshments at a resort (14:19). Pool side guests (14:36) await a feast (15:05). Thatched roofed homes sit on the beach as a local rides by bareback (16:12). Fishermen ready a boat for a trip (16:29). Porto de Salvador is visited (17:54) as fishermen unload their catch to be sold at the harbor market (18:12). Salvador is known as the oldest city rich with Baroque colonial churches (18:36). Some of the painted buildings in the historic center of Pelourinho are captured (18:51). Recife is known as the town of silver canals (19:05). The State of Amazonas is known to be where the waters of the Rio Negro meet the waters of the Amazon (19:29). A ferry moves over the Amazon River (19:58) known as a highway to the jungle. Fat lily pads (20:24) butterflies and jungle foliage are viewed from long boats on the waters (22:04). The harbor of the capital city of Manaus follows (22:51). Christ the Redeemer is captured at Corcovado (23:30). The city of Rio de Janerio prepares itself for the massive festival known as Carnival (23:46). Parades in elaborate costume hold up signs as music rolls out (23:58). Costumed locals dance with flares (25:14) as the event continues for four days and four nights. Within an elegant hotel, guests dance the Samba (25:31). This film was a Sound Magic Production (27:07).

Golden era of Brazil's!
Passionate Travelogue ❤
I think the was produced in the middle 1950s, once the new capital Brasilia is not even mentioned and there's no Bossa Nova music in the soundtrack.
But a Boeing 707 is shown; then is, at least, 1958 or 1959.
4:49 So chic and tender smile she made. I'll never forget what a beautiful face I see.
O Todo Poderoso serenamente lhe respondeu: "Calma. Você vai ver só a gentinha que eu vou colocar ali".

What was the purpose of these old Pan Am films? And, where would these films have been seen?
Are you american or brazilian?
Very interesting this video, about Brazil in 1960 years.
But, there are others “mistakes”, for example, modern architecture in Lagoa da Pampulha in Minas Gerais, is mentioned, look like São Paulo State, and “Samba” at Quitandinha in Petrópolis -RG, look like Spanish South American songs.
I am brazilian
+Patricio Gomes Thank you for your comments -- very much. We appreciate your corrections.
Normal. Excelente vídeo.
this is my aesthetic
me 2 man?
When Rio WAS beautiful, not more.
I don't remember signing off on this.
Does anyone know what terminal Pan Am was in Galeao Airport?
At that time the airlines used the actual military base, and beyond 1977, the new passengers terminal, nowadays Terminal 1, also inoperable.
At the time Brazil had many European immigrants dominating everything, today it is just an unpleasant place
When Brazil was still a non-industrial and urban country. Just in 1970's that Brazil became a industrial and urban country
