I like to think most if not all args are just in the same universe just happening at different times and places around the world and people like Kevin are just freelancer who just treat hunting and purging cyber anomaly's from the world
Ok imagine being hired and specialized in taking down paranormal oddities but he's stuck dealing with minecraft horrors, Big Kevin is probably sick of looking at this game lmao Kevin's personality is also super endearing, man is way too chill whilst dealing with videogame analog horrors, and anytime a jumpscare actually gets to him he just goes 'wow, i didn't get that one before, that's cool.'' also, with that casey's cave case, it introduces the fact that the Collinlock16-verse is a shared universe with all sorts of MC creepypastas, no wonder Kevin's so cool with it, it's also cute seeing a paranormal investigator interacting so casually with their client like ''let me just do some off-camera grinding, y'know how it is.'' also the animated sections go SO hard. Ofcourse though, when KEVIN is caught off guard, you know things are spooky then, but still! this guy is a great character! you got a good cast going on!
i want to imagine that even when it comes to irl ghosts and stuff hes still just like a pest removal guy whos seen it all and isnt concerned by the average haunting. like this is truly just his day job.
oughe i love how the like, "side" characters are given respect in this series, and that they aren't just treated like nobodies rebar and gambling squaring up alongside kev against casey is so good i also love that they all have their own unique background during the animated segment rebar having. fuckin. orange tinted rebar. lmao. kev having newspaper gambling having.. the interior of a casino?
that might be something to do with kev's past since the other backrounds are due to names of the person/he is in a sense an investigator and newspapers are what most would work for
I absolutely ADORE Kevin just offhandedly mentioning that the second anomaly could be a “metaphor for nostalgia” such awesome casual world building in one sentence.
unironically I love the cool little animation sequences and how the characters are drawn in all the episodes. the creeper skins are great character designs
Idea: "Minecraft ARG but the protagonist is chill" The protagonist in this installment would actually try making friendly contact with the entity corrupting his world, and not taking any of the creepy stuff seriously. In the end, the protagonist's kindness works, and they become friends with the entity.
@@ThatBillNyeGuy09 True but there's still the case of the pastry exchange and the fact he and hungry (iirc and the ominous obsidian obelisk guy is hungry) aren't outright hostile and more just petty bastards
So the lore expands. It appears that entities and ai could possibly be given sentience in these games, possible even ghosts based on the assessments given by Kevin. Considering the video, it seems that many of these entities once in game, turn malevolent once they get the chance. That of these are the same entities in the last videos who are just trying to scare others by putting on costumes. Kevin seems to be a paranormal investigator who’s had a history with Minecraft worlds, but more importantly has a history with hungry and xander. It could be that Kevin originally had a case with hungry, possibly after Xander went missing, and could have been having cases with hungry ever since. However one important thing about the gridworld entities and hungry is that they seem to rely on the internet for their access to worlds.
I think for the Hungry it's more of a case of the DDOS severing its ability to interact with (and kill) the player entity, and by extension, the person playing the game.
I mean, I think Big Kevin is BigKVids (Big Kevin Vids?). He knows hungry because he saw it in Zander's sighting video, though at the time he thought it was just a different player. Maybe Zander not posting anything ever again after that made Kevin suspicious about what he saw there, and possibly that was what started his interest in researching entities which would lead to him becoming an entity exterminator.
and that collin seems to have a weakening effect on them if only partly i.e his rain overpower some of the other entities powers like the red sky that seems to have stopped faster due to the rain and gridworld entities had their world settings overpowered if only for a little bit
Okay, I know Souler's thing is trying to make people scared of him, but honestly, when he popped up, disappeared, and then popped up again and again, that was just kinda funny. ...I wonder what brings him fear?
I’m pretty sure the Souler and “hungry” are different, since “hungry” isn’t as omnipotent as Mr. Teleports Behind You in this video. Besides the difference in appearance (“hungry” has a blank skin and a nameplate, Souler has a red skin and no nameplate), they also have different flavors of sadism, where “hungry” likes to literally play with their food through the game, before leaving a victim’s body with a message somewhere while Souler directly invades the senses, most explicitly through nightmares, before apparently using victims as zombies to lure others with.
It's interesting to me that Kevin has clearly been through all this before, and so is used to the spooky scary stuff, as it were. The "digital satan" was just a neat little program to him, the old-school myth of Casey didn't get to him, et cetera. With hungry, though, Kevin not only seemed to know about him, but was fully aware that he was a threat. He pulled out an entire DDoS (which could just be a way overblown statement, but hey whatever) in order to force a disconnect to get away from hungry. Very interesting stuff!
Thing is, that wasn't Hungry, that was Souler. Who is apparently different. You can check Oneshef's reply in the pinned comment as well open UA-cam captions during that part.
@@trolledfordrip Hungy and Souler definitely act differently In the Zander video, Souler was visible for maybe 5 seconds, and killed and ate the souls of Zander and his friend In the AwesomeG missing person video, Hungry stalked him, trapped him, and talked to him directly through the version text bar before eating him alive irl Different methods, Hungry takes it a lot slower than Souler, who tried to speedrun eating Kevin

nah kevin would ask the entities about themselves/other entities to satisfy his morbid curiosity and to also try and see what the grid people are about
While entity removal is an important line of work, entity aftermath cleanup is equally important! Finding and removing an entity and not its remnants can lead to further incursions.
maybe thats who the gridworld people are since they are able to get rid of collin's rain meaning they even though they are most likely human they have the means to rid worlds of the little bits of an entity's stuff i.e the rain for collin and the infected cobblestone for the entity/entities that gun mod person shot
Really like the cutoff that happens at 8:44 with Kevin just completely removing the entire cave that was haunted, made me laugh for a while. Good stuff! PS: I really like Kevin. Would love to see more of him!
I love how genuine the interactions feel in the 3rd case, like they actually happened. But more importantly I am so fucking perplexed by when exactly this is set. They are still using Skype, there is offhand, old textures, new textures, like what
I think that might be intentional? playing off the inconsistencies of other ARGs which sometimes forget which version or year they're supposed to take place in
I'm pretty sure this episode was made because of that meme where it asks someone, "What would they do if they saw Herobrine?"(Rough idea of the line) And another guy responded with "I would call my friend Kevin".
@@macm5542 some kid commented "if i saw herobrine i would call my friend kevin" on a minecraft video, someone else posted it on reddit i think which ended up going mega viral and now it's a joke among the minecraft community about how kevin could solo every arg.
Its really interesting how this vid implies souler/hungry tier entities are the biggest and baddest ones, since literally everything else kevin was casual with but the instant he relized what souler was he was in full "oh shit oh fuck" mode which makes me wonder if he has an actual solution for those ones or if its just "ABORT MISSION, DDOS THE MF AND GTFO"
he def know about souler since most of the ppl here guessed that bigkvids WAS kevin and that one frame in this vid (someone pointed it out duh) flashed back to the gameband vid implying that kevin bought it and the rest is history
Probably was only like that because Souler actually was smart compared to the other supernatural threats he faced. If I was a Anomaly hunter like him and suddenly one of them actually was smart enough to be tactical I'd get freaked out and retreat.
@@outrageousholidayoh-2178it's not just because he's tactical, he shares appearance and mannerisms, possibly even method to an extent with hungry, who violently murdered awesomeG. They're smart, sadistic and extremely dangerous.
It IS... I love how it's a parody built off of love and spite for the entire concept of ARGs and meshes both to find the heart, and dichotomy, of the whole thing
I think the phrase of hunger "human fear is the window to the soul" or close to that is the most important, as well as level of threats save - pc - soul, or world - save - pc - real life. Those on the last level can get rid of people in the real life, but they have a very specific need for it, which is fear, without it the person is not reachable for them Also another detai, the zombie guy in last video was too lineal, he talked with grammar, was moving in straight lines, slow turning and disappearing as soon as he went out of sight, hunger probably used this man's soul as a bait (this technixally wasnt even a case, since Kevin didnt specify its name or details and the email itself was sketchy) to lure Kevin into a world of a goner, which means that Hunger specifically wants to get Kevin's soul Just saying the obvious things I noticed, the fact that the entities are that of common in this reality is something
I came to the same conclusion for that Souler(you referred to them as "hunger") is an IRL threat. I felt like the zombie guy was off as well, you wight be on to something there.
@@Kaynex160as oneshef confirmed, Souler ain't Hungry. I assume the incidents had nothing to do with one another and that they're similar but not the same entities.
souler most likely wanted to get rid of someone who could if he did't know that kevin was helping and was off guard would get rid of him maybe for good
I think that while digital entities are common enough for Big Kevin to make a living off of hunting them, they're usually just pests and not real threats, like Digital Satan, the weird haunted cave, and Casey that breaks your mc account. But Souler and Hungry are a rare kind of real life threat, they *kill*, and may be the only two entities capable of harming people irl for all we know. The Gridworld dude could probably be a real threat as well if he wanted, but I think he is an actual person
This feels more like an alternate universe where paranormal entities are such a well known problem that there exist people that specialize in entity removal, and funnier still is the amount of calls for removal, which means people don’t think he’s crazy. However, it’s not such a well known thing that people tell when things are entities. It’s cool.
I kind of want a video where Kevin comes across a friendly anomaly. And the friendly anomaly is just a ghost who wants to visit people in Minecraft so they won't be lonely but they keep on accidentally scaring the players. Or maybe the friendly entity is a guardian angel type thing and it's in their perspective of them trying to protect other people and they're doing a bad job because they're really weak
@@slorms7838 or the players set up some traps because I imagined the guardian angel is scary looking so people think it's an evil ghost or something either way both are funny
It would be really funny if, after all the buildup from previous Zander videos and this one finally introducing a distinct antagonist from hungry, the DDoS attack straight-up killed Souler and he was only ever brought up again in postmortem reference
i mean we have seen a lot of entities so maybe a 50/25/25 (with the 25s being if its a prank or someone just being scared of something maybe being in there world but they just had odd world gen

Kevin is truly the professional we need. The Metaphors don't stand a chance! Also loved the inspiration from Interloper, and I also love seeing the window into technical aspects of the techno-paranormal, it gets glossed over way to often imo. Keep up the good work!
Honestly I kinda love the world that you built here just through implication oneshef. I love the idea of a world where the paranormal is almost a common occurrence and is kinda just seen as part of the world. Yeah spooky shit can happen and does happen. But it’s at this point an accepted phenomenon. Despite the kid literally GETTING HIS SOUL EATEN. Kevin isn’t that rattled by it. Yeah sure maybe he is a little spooked by souler suddenly appearing ( cause for whatever Kevin knows about him ) but quickly gets over it and just wants to know what souler is doing. And when souler starts to act threateningly. Kevin dips because he knows he is in danger and that he can get out of said danger. It’s kinda like these entities are treated like wild animals. Some are more harmless then others. Like maybe the threat of a particularly nasty squirrel. But at the same time you have animals (like hunger and souler) that are much more dangerous. And if your stupid you can get killed and eaten. People die to these things but since they are such a well known threat. People make comedy out of it because it’s basically like seeing an animal in nature. If your stupid it can be dangerous. But at this point people have a general idea of how to deal with them and how to get away safely. Like Colin’s deadpan the girls gun collection or just big Kevin’s professional attitude when dealing with them .That why I love your series though. You made a very real example of humor in horror. How we view wild animals and how we joke about them. Dosent change that fact they are dangerous. Just changes how instead of seeing them as some unknown threat. We see them as dangerous but manageable problems. And for that. You will forever have my subscriber ship.
according to the captions and looking at the skin from the end of wacky footage, this isn't hungry at the end, this is some guy called "souler" i do think the "fear is the window to the soul" line is interesting, though. maybe the entities gain power off of being scary and collin's rain isn't what's causing them to be less but him simply not giving a shit. this also explains why vitriolic_red and kevin are able to survive as vitriolic has a gun and kevin's just used to it
Collin: tired Collin 2: im tired tuck off Vitriolic: guns guns shoot bullets guns shoot Kevin: yeah I'm doing a serious investigation... SCOOBY DOO (and then the family guy death pose)
I absolutely love the concept of a supernatural style entity hunter who's just so desensitized to the whole thing, that all of their "I'm scary, blarg!!" moments just bounce right off of the main guy. Especially love the concept of all the cool shit at your disposal to prevent them from screwing with your game or pc, really sets up the potential for certain REALLY powerful entities to make their way through those defenses for a real "oh, shit" moment!
The interaction with souler in the last part of the video helps prove your last point perfectly, even if Kevin did have a defense for it(the ddos) you can tell that he’s freaking out slightly, which contrasts with his calm and cool demeanor from earlier, it makes you feel scared for Kevin, like he’s no longer in control Edit: just adding an edit so UA-cam doesn’t auto delete my stuff
@@GoofyAhhTv481 Yep, exactly the scenario I was referencing! Though, I've gotta give some light criticism on that one... It kinda fell flat due to the way that character acted, specifically the very slapstick way he kept disappearing and reappearing with a vine boom sound effect every time he came back. Which sucks, because on one hand, that was fucking hilarious. But on the other, it kinda took away the impact that it could've had if he had let the tension build more and removed the comedic element. Or maybe just executed it in a different way even! But yeah, otherwise I still see a TON of potential in this concept, and I really hope he keeps going in this direction with the channel.

Randomly had an ARG concept of my own while watching this. A singleplayer seed that seems to have been altered with signs and artificial landmarks claiming everything in a certain area as the territory/belongings of the first player who ever found the seed. The effect is consistent across different players who generate a world with the seed. You can make contact with the player, but only if you generate a multiplayer server from the seed, in which case the player will already be in the server as soon as you load in and rant angrily at you for trespassing.

Fantastic worldbuilding, I love the subtlety you put into things! 10/10. Mostly just confusd on the Souler vs Hungry thing since they're not the same being, so I'm curious as to whether or not what happened to Zander was Souler's fault, or Hungry's.
It was Souler who killed Zander, Hungry was responsible for the death of AwesomeG. From what I can tell the main difference between the two is their hunting methods: Souler has mostly targeted players in multiplayer servers and uses blatant terror to scare its prey into its clutches, while Hungry mainly stalks in singleplayer worlds and uses paranoia to drive its victims to their doom
All of the people in the series have some way to deal with these entities, but I got to thinking. What if we have a player that just hunts, no, fights these entities in pure vanilla survival. Not even investigating, but straight up just hunting them down. Then, have the username be something like "Ky1e_420" or some crap like that.

Ok imagine being hired and specialized in taking down paranormal oddities but he's stuck dealing with minecraft horrors, Big Kevin is probably sick of looking at this game lmao
Kevin's personality is also super endearing, man is way too chill whilst dealing with videogame analog horrors, and anytime a jumpscare actually gets to him he just goes 'wow, i didn't get that one before, that's cool.'' also, with that casey's cave case, it introduces the fact that the Collinlock16-verse is a shared universe with all sorts of MC creepypastas, no wonder Kevin's so cool with it, it's also cute seeing a paranormal investigator interacting so casually with their client like ''let me just do some off-camera grinding, y'know how it is.'' also the animated sections go SO hard.

Idea: "Minecraft ARG but the protagonist is chill"
The protagonist in this installment would actually try making friendly contact with the entity corrupting his world, and not taking any of the creepy stuff seriously. In the end, the protagonist's kindness works, and they become friends with the entity.
I would love to see that.
But I wonder how it would work with entities that are unable of empathy. Like Hunger.
I'm guessing the best case scenario for that person would be the ominous obsidian pillar guy or the friendly neighbor
So just Collin basically
@@user-burner Eh, Collin's more mean and irritated towards the entities than friendly
@@Gulliblepikmin could be
I mean, I think Big Kevin is BigKVids (Big Kevin Vids?). He knows hungry because he saw it in Zander's sighting video, though at the time he thought it was just a different player. @@TheGeladoo that would be an interesting origin story

I’m pretty sure the Souler and “hungry” are different, since “hungry” isn’t as omnipotent as Mr. Teleports Behind You in this video.
Besides the difference in appearance (“hungry” has a blank skin and a nameplate, Souler has a red skin and no nameplate), they also have different flavors of sadism,
where “hungry” likes to literally play with their food through the game, before leaving a victim’s body with a message somewhere
while Souler directly invades the senses, most explicitly through nightmares, before apparently using victims as zombies to lure others with.

Those on the last level can get rid of people in the real life, but they have a very specific need for it, which is fear, without it the person is not reachable for them
Also another detai, the zombie guy in last video was too lineal, he talked with grammar, was moving in straight lines, slow turning and disappearing as soon as he went out of sight, hunger probably used this man's soul as a bait (this technixally wasnt even a case, since Kevin didnt specify its name or details and the email itself was sketchy) to lure Kevin into a world of a goner, which means that Hunger specifically wants to get Kevin's soul
Just saying the obvious things I noticed, the fact that the entities are that of common in this reality is something

You will forever have my subscriber ship.
according to the captions and looking at the skin from the end of wacky footage, this isn't hungry at the end, this is some guy called "souler"
i do think the "fear is the window to the soul" line is interesting, though. maybe the entities gain power off of being scary and collin's rain isn't what's causing them to be less but him simply not giving a shit. this also explains why vitriolic_red and kevin are able to survive as vitriolic has a gun and kevin's just used to it
Its ironic how you decided create your own ARG series but it stills mocking this type of minecraft videos. Its awesome!

Collin: tired
Collin 2: im tired tuck off
Vitriolic: guns guns shoot bullets guns shoot
Kevin: yeah I'm doing a serious investigation...
The interaction with souler in the last part of the video helps prove your last point perfectly, even if Kevin did have a defense for it(the ddos) you can tell that he’s freaking out slightly, which contrasts with his calm and cool demeanor from earlier, it makes you feel scared for Kevin, like he’s no longer in control
Edit: just adding an edit so UA-cam doesn’t auto delete my stuff
I mean the forth case with souler was like that though no? Kevin had to use a DDoS attack just to abort the mission.
@@GoofyAhhTv481 Yep, exactly the scenario I was referencing! Though, I've gotta give some light criticism on that one... But on the other, it kinda took away the impact that it could've had if he had let the tension build more and removed the comedic element. Or maybe just executed it in a different way even!
Case one:Gojo solution

All of the people in the series have some way to deal with these entities, but I got to thinking. What if we have a player that just hunts, no, fights these entities in pure vanilla survival. Not even investigating, but straight up just hunting them down. Then, have the username be something like "Ky1e_420" or some crap like that.
Minecraft creepypasta but the main character is a bored og
@@Reynnan123 I was thinking more of "Minecraft ARG, but the protagonist is PISSED" type deal.
@@The_Con_Man. I feel that title should just go to a protagonist that just starts yelling at the entities and cursing them out rather than being scared
@@slorms7838 That's a better idea than mine.

"WHY WON'T YOU CRASH?"
"DEBAR, SON, IT ROLLS BACK DATA IN RESPONSE TO OVERLOADING. YOU CAN'T CRASH ME!"
