When you said Texas is big and you just just drive on forever and ever. It's like me living in the province of Alberta and to go visit family in Manitoba you've got to survive ever so boring Saskatchewan! There's just nothing there!
Jami, im a native Texan and many of the things you share are just old hat to me. I love the perspective you bring that shows how rich with culture, history, and stuff, sorry I didn’t know the word to describe it, that Texas is so full of. It’s one of the reasons i cannot imagine living anywhere else. It also amazes me to think of traveling through areas like swamps before cars. No ty. I wish I could give this video multiple thumbs up. Please keep doing yalls adventures, even if they don’t seem like adventures to you
Isn’t it funny how as kids we couldn’t care less about things like this, and find history boring. Yet as adults, these places and the information they provide are not only important, but fascinating!😊❤
Jami girl. Since my search for more news about the aftermath of Harvey I found ISS. Fell in love with the animals and your life with the animals. But now that I have been bedridden for a few years and can no longer go outside myself, except in an ambulance to go to the hospital again, I really enjoy your outings whether it is shopping (with the girls) or visiting places, I ENJOY. Thank you Jami and Lester for all this.🧡🧡
Oh my gosh, what a beautiful, hidden spot. I doubt I ever would have seen this, if not for you. Thank you so much for bringing us along on your adventures. ❤
I was born and raised and live in Texas and never seen this rest stop. Now I have to make this place a new road trip thank you Jami and Lester. Love natures beauty all in one stop. I hope y'all have a wonderful and bless week and Merry Christmas!!
I learn so much fom you when you video your many travels. Thank you for educating me on Texas' history...these swamps, the Alamo, TX A&M animal medical facilities, Buc-ess paradises! In beginning, I enjoyed your Sancuary 'babies', but your excursions off the farm have given me such pleasure. You both are wonderful!
We have a lot of these called Wildlife Sanctuaries. Designed specifically not to disturb the nature wildlife in an area. Always very interesting to see animals in their natural habitat
Your Texas is awesome 👍 This is a beautiful idea for land no one could enjoy. I love these road trips with the history you both tell. I'll never get to go to Texas but I learn slot from you two. Thanks for taking us along. Safe travel.
Being from Southern California Im always amazed at just how much water there is the further East you go. While traveling to Tennessee a few years ago, right down Highway 40, my daughter fell in love with rivers. Until she saw the devastation a flooding river could do. Thank you for this stop. Some rest areas are so interesting!
WoW, amazing love to hear the history and sights of places, we don't do enough of that anymore. I guess screens have replaced the physical exploring, thanks for bringing us along.
WEven in the winter, my dad carried a hoe or other long piece of wood to test the safety of river ice before he stepped on it. And as a last hope of not falling below the ice!
Good morning, Jami and Lester That sure is an awesome rest area. Thank you for showing us. This is now on my 'to see/do' list. To me, there is nothing is better than nature walks. ❤
Good morning Jamie and Lester, I have seen Swamps in Florida, Louisiana and Texas.we have drove across Texas on I-10 and down to San Antonio. Saw lots of of Oil wells pumping and storage tanks. Enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing ❤
That was so cool. I love when you and Lester go on your little excursions and I love hearing the history of the Lone Star State! Thank you so very much for sharing your adventures! 🙌🤗☺️⭐
Always Love getting out and seeing nature. Thank You for taking us along with you. I miss going camping and being out in Nature with my husband and kids. Would hike waterfalls, glens etc... Beautiful areas in Upstate/central NY. Enjoy these times. I am disabled now and can no longer walk for big distances. Thank you for taking us with you.
I absolutely love when hou take us on adventures with you Jami ❣️ thank uou so much for taking us along. I enjoy uour videos so much. There was so mich i learned from just this video. Love ya and always remember your smart and beautiful ❤️ have a great day ☺️ i came iver from fb for the longer videos and more content.
Thanks for sharing this rest stop never had the opportunity to use it. However, wanted to thank Lester for doing such a great job sharing historical knowledge about our beautiful state of Texas. Even before my stroke I was never able to express the history of Texas. And I was a Texas History teacher for close to ten years. Thank you
What a great way to learn about an area you are travelling through. Not just a history lesson but a view into what the land looked like before it was developed. Good also for the natural flora and fauna to thrive, and a good way to take a break from travelling. Thank you for sharing this Jami. I'm from Australia and intend to visit America in the next 10 years. Texas is definitely on the list of must see places. Have a great day.
That's what I loved about Texas when I lived there.. it is a huge state and a very proud state! I love the fact no matter where you go, that state flag is flying and I'll be honest there were some places that Texas flash was flying above that American flag and I wasn't mad about it. It's nice to live in a place that takes pride. Texans are first Texans, then second Americans. And nope I'm not mad about it 😉😊❤️
On the road again. Heck I didn't know about Buckles gas station, until Jamie and Lester went to one. Now it's on a bucket list for me. But I love watching the Marrow families, what a family means to me. Blessings always love . ❤❤❤❤❤
That is a Restful Rest-Stop. I definitely appreciate the time, effort and money that went into creating a building and lovely walkway over a swamp. I have always enjoyed 'Jami's View/Perspective' of various activities and places. I hope they continue.
We have swamp bridges like this in Northern Ontario, but we don' t worry about snakes.. its Bears and Moose!! It also serves as a haven for birds. "Swamp Walks"!!
That is quite a rest stop. I didn’t realize Texas did something like that quite a bit of history. It’s almost like hitting a historical site and going for a little adventure wonderful.
Thanks for showing us parts of Texas, my traveling days are over, so it means a lot to me to see these beautiful places!! Much love and many blessings from Livonia Michigan..🌲💖
Thank you Jami for showing us a lot of different things. Loved this. What a neat place. There are so many things in Texas to see. It's a proud state. I would love to walk thru there.
Good Cold and Snowy Afternoon from Pennsylvania ,First Lester is such a Gentleman ❤. Thank you for sharing your Adventures ❤. Much love from Pennsylvania ❤.
Thank you Jami, that was a fascinating tour of the swamp. I love walking where it’s quiet and you can hear all the sounds in nature. I would love seeing some of the wildlife too, yes even the gators, the snakes not so much.😂❤️❤️
Thank you for bringing us along, I'd never be able to see it in person so I appreciate this😊 ❤ Oh poor Lester, you're walking more and more like your sweet dad.
Jamie you have to get Lester to get a knee replacement it is so sad to see him suffer. My mom got her knee done at 85 yrs old. She was up and down steps after a couple of days(the best rehab is bending the knee to avoid scarring). She is going on 91 and doing fine.❤️🙏❤️🎄☃️⛄️🌲❄️
We were in Texas at Baylor hospital when my dad had a heart transplant. Swore I would never go back the experience was horrible for us but since I started watching yall I might...might reconsider it. 😂
I'd never really bought into, everythings "Bigger in Texas" I do now. I have never saw a Rest Stop like that, I live in Kentucky and they are one small building about 3000sqft if that. That place is a attraction not just a quick place to go potty and walk your dog if your traveling with one. WOW WOOOOW!
I drove from Lubbock to Dallas about 20 yrs ago, remember it was a long drive across Texas! Been on 10 a few times would never know this was here, but what better place to put it for so many from all over to see it!! Thanku for showing! ❤️🤗 safe travels!
Thank you for taking us along on the rest stop tour. That was amazing. I would love to see that part of Texas. A friend of mine lived in Texas for a while and they had longhorns that would roam the complex where they lived. They also had other wildlife that would come up in their yards.
Now we have swamps in Michigan, lots of swamps and lots of cranes in Michigan too. I was walking along by the river and hit a swamp and sunk up to my high thighs. I lost my shoes it took Mike forever to pull me out, my shoes stayed in the swamp. The swamp was beautifl....❤U both...😊😊
Awesome road stop! All of it is nice looking, especially the swamp walk. I live in Florida. Lots of swamp, gators, and snakes. Just have to be careful and you will be fine. There is a park that has a walking path just above the water, in a swamp. You would not like that part. Thank you for bringing us with you!
Thanks for this my husband was a truck driver . I would go with him some time he went to Texas twice a week never knew about this place . Would have loved to see this place.
I love traveling across America and visiting new places. There’s so much out there we don’t know about and some can be hidden gems! Love adventures like this…. Wallace Idaho… cutest little town hidden away! And there’s no end to those places right in your own backyard!
That was great Jami. I love this kind of stuff. Whether it is exploring nature, thrift stores, outdoor market, festivals etc. They're all my cups of tea. I enjoyed your tour. Thanks so much.❤❤❤
I love it! I live in northern Florida and grew up in the swamp and miss it. That was about an hour away, more north and west near the Georgia line and in the Osceola National Forest and Okeefenokee Swamp. Lots of places to take a cooler with food and drinks, bait, and fish all day. Yes, Cypress trees. It sucks when you walk into one. Lol Lol, Jami! 😂 I do not like snakes either! The gators are ok from a distance. It's a nice place, and thank you for sharing it with us! ❤ Yes, paper maps are always good ! Love y'all ❤️
I am close to 70 myself, and I live in Oregon, and it is most likely I won't make it there. Thanks for taking us on this trip. Happy holidays to you. Luv u.
Thank you both for this adventure! I really enjoyed looking around 8n the swamp. I have always wanted to go into one just to see. Weeping Willow Trees are my favorite along with Birch Trees. My family owned swamp land in Florida for about 15 years just to keep it wild. Thanks again for this❤❤❤
Lester you need to get a new knee! I had my first one done when I was 53. I'm 71 now and still walking great with no knee pain! It is so worth it. Love these adventures you take us on no matter where you are!
Thank you for always taking us on these trips!! I only travel every once in awhile so traveling "with" you guys is so fun. One time here in New York there were loose cows at a rest stop and it made me think of you guys. I'll have to find the video LOL. I remember thinking why aren't these people saying Sook Sook Sook 🤣🤷♀️ We do have a place here in New York called rattlesnake gulch. I've never gone exploring though lol. Anyway see y'all tonight!
I love this video!! I've never seen a swamp. I wouldn't take any kind of boat to go in one. Yet, I'm like you, Jami, I love to look and explore nature. It's wonderful that they built this for people to see, but in a very SAFE way. The signs to read about a swamp are amazing, too. I can't believe it's free!!!!!!
Looks like Louisiana swamps… alligators, snakes, wild life, birds, etc.. a nice walk and tour. We would take our small fishing boat and paddle thru the swampy bayous, fish, watch the bullfrogs jump from the logs. At night we’d go frog gigging with a light.. frog legs taste like chicken when prep right. Sweet memories! Thanks! My grandfather built his LA home on Black River from those cypress trees. A plantation owner/farmer! My grandmother was a Chisum..
I travel I10 once a month from southeast Louisiana to Houston TX to see my grandkids. That interstate is a nightmare! I haven’t stopped at that rest area in awhile. I didn’t know it was rebuilt. Looks awesome! Now I need to stop by there on my next trip. Thanks for sharing. 😊
This is my neck of the woods, Lol, but I have never stopped at that rest area. I live only 15 minutes from there so no need to stop. Thanks for showing everyone our Texas!
I believe the white bird is not a crane but a Great Egret. There are 3 common types of egrets, the Snowy (has yellow feet) the cattle egret (some have a beige mark on them - see then out with Pawpaws cattle sometimes) and the Great Egret as you see in the swamp today.
Love the look of cypress when it's coated with polyurethane...It's absolutely beautiful...and I bet if you had kept walking Jami you would have seen some Eagles but they are getting ready to nest now or already might be on eggs but they do this in the tallest trees and close to the tops you'll see a nest as large as a queen size mattress in the top portion of the tallest tree...Have fun tho.Thank you for this video cause I never get to travel but love seeing your travels, such beautiful places you get to see even the swamps...Merry Christmas to the family and all us viewers that are family too.
There are many of those swamp/estuaries in the Carolinas. Just inland from the coast. It’s where the ocean water meets fresh water. The locals tie crab traps to the wood walkways and drop them down into the water. It’s so nice to see natural environments where wildlife can just thrive. 😘😘❤️❤️
Thankyou both for the tour .never seen a swamp quite that size 😮here in the uk we have wetlands but probably a quarter of the size .I find it beautifully fascinating what a beautiful world we share .
Thanks for the tour.❤❤ I am 73 years old, have had 2 strokes, and sure won't ever see Texas in person. I enjoy these little tours you show us.❤❤
I'm 72 and sort of in the same situation
So this is really neat to see. Thanks Jami and Lester. God bless y'all.
When you said Texas is big and you just just drive on forever and ever. It's like me living in the province of Alberta and to go visit family in Manitoba you've got to survive ever so boring Saskatchewan! There's just nothing there!
@@debbieellis5074 I am 74 since yesterday, and I am in the same boat!
I’m 90.. memories of my active life is an inspiration to me, and brings me joy! Tyler TX.

I agree. It’s fun to explore. I love Texas and I sure would move there in a heartbeat if my kids didn’t live in Illinois. I feel kinda stuck here.
Orange, Venus & Gregory Texas. Wow, in 10 short minutes, I've learned of 3 new Texas towns. Thanks, Tina & Jami!❤❤❤❤❤
It's really cool. Snakes!! I'd be looking for a gator!
Thank you Jami and Lester!!

Thanks Jami for showing us this swamp ,it is so cool that they've turned it into a very nice visitors center.✌💜
That was a beautiful tour of a natural feature. It really shows how drastically the landscape can change. 💖💖💖
I lived near one growing up. In the winter, all the water froze, and only then did I go out there and ice skated. Loved it.
WEven in the winter, my dad carried a hoe or other long piece of wood to test the safety of river ice before he stepped on it. And as a last hope of not falling below the ice!

Thank you Jami, I live vicariously through you taking us with you. Pretty much housebound now and love your trips, long or short :)

That walkway is about as long as my state😅
It's a great thing to see.
Thank you Jami, that was a fascinating tour of the swamp. I love walking where it’s quiet and you can hear all the sounds in nature. I would love seeing some of the wildlife too, yes even the gators, the snakes not so much.😂❤️❤️

How wonderful thank you Jami and Lester for taking us along with you ❤❤ this is awesome
WOW...this is So Cool!
Glad you showed us this Lester and Jami! ❤
WOW WOOOOW!
Thank you for the video, I will never get to see this except thru your eyes and that is wonderful.
Morning yall… Jamie that’s a mama/wifey move “make sure you lock the door” lolol love it
I drove from Lubbock to Dallas about 20 yrs ago, remember it was a long drive across Texas!
The swamp was beautifl....❤U both...😊😊
Love travelling with you and Lester! Thanks for taking us along on your adventures! 😊
I love places like this. I could get lost there all day long. Thanks for taking us along!
That is beautiful 😍. Thank you Jami so much for sharing the swamp walk. Very enjoyable ❤❤❤❤
Lol
Lol, Jami! 😂 I do not like snakes either!
The gators are ok from a distance.
It's a nice place, and thank you for sharing it with us! ❤
Yes, paper maps are always good !
Love y'all ❤️
I am close to 70 myself, and I live in Oregon, and it is most likely I won't make it there. Thanks for taking us on this trip. Happy holidays to you. Luv u.
Hate to be the lucky person that had to get into that water when they built that walkway
Thank you Jami and Lester for taking us on a beautiful trip coffee clinks to a beautiful day ☕
Thank you both for this adventure! I really enjoyed looking around 8n the swamp. I have always wanted to go into one just to see. Weeping Willow Trees are my favorite along with Birch Trees. My family owned swamp land in Florida for about 15 years just to keep it wild. Thanks again for this❤❤❤
I really enjoyed this Jami Thank you. I love nature, I guess that's why I like gardening. 😊
Lester you need to get a new knee! I had my first one done when I was 53. I'm 71 now and still walking great with no knee pain! It is so worth it. Love these adventures you take us on no matter where you are!

It's wonderful that they built this for people to see, but in a very SAFE way.
The signs to read about a swamp are amazing, too. I can't believe it's free!!!!!!
Wow. Ty for taking these tours Jami. I will never be able to see them on my own. I can see them through you. Ty.
Looks like Louisiana swamps… alligators, snakes, wild life, birds, etc.. a nice walk and tour. Hello Jami and Lester. A very great video, Jami. Love you all. God Bless. Merry Christmas ⛄️🎄☃️🎅🤶❄️🛷🧸
That’s an amazing rest area. All I could think about is that it must be a haven for mosquitoes! Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
It is nice to learn the history of Texas ❤❤

Thanks for sharing. That's a great rest area. I wish they all contained so much history!❤❤
Jami, now y’all need to go west and visit a rest area out there and compare the differences in geography. Texas is so diverse. ❤

During the holidays, my sons family is visiting Texas. They are so excited. 😊
Great tour, thanks for taking us along
