For that thick of metal I would use stick welding using either a 6011 or a 7018, also bevel your edges. Looks like your wire feed is too fast in my opinion. It's a learning curve but a few tips for you. If you are not using MIG take the MIG nozzle off and put on the Flux core nozzle (that would be that black cone nozzle). Doing so will give you a better visibility of the weld pool. Even though the welder has a "smart system" by saying what gauge metal you are working on I tend to turn the speed down a few notches. It will greatly improve your comfort on welding. You want that consistent bacon sound, if it sounds off take a step back and look it over. Trial and error, rinse and repeat. You'll get it down.
Hey bro. Your doing the same thing I did and am still doing, lol. I was a lamer and still am. Filmed my first weld ever but with a lot less of a machine. hahahaha.
Remember to always push not pull on mig cause the gas coverage is key to not having porosity also slow down and keep your eye on the puddle wait for it to form that nice circle
I bought this welder for our company shop, so far I’m liking it, we don’t plan to do a lot of fab with it but so far I really like the presets for dummies . I need those
Yes. I ran a 220. I used a 40 amp breaker with 8 gauge wire. Many different opinions with the 40amp vs 50amp breaker, but most seemed to run or recommend the 40 for the welder. Vulcan did as well. I believe their provided 220 plug wire was either 12 or 14 gauge.
All gotta start somewhere. I’ve been hobby welding for a year. Having a blast! Good for you friend!
I enjoy it as well.

Thanks for the advice!! I’ve been slowly plugging along with small projects. Feel like I’m improving every project. Still have to give stick a try!!
Exactly.
What size thickness of metal 🤔. I have same welder getting ready to make a gate with ⅛.
Everyone's got a first time. 👍🏻
I just got a titanium 140 unlimited, I’ve done very little welding so I’m in the same boat as you. Learning as I go
Best way to learn is by doing in my opinion.
Yes the black nozzle for flux core so you can see the puddle better
Congrats on your new adventure,,,,,I wish you the very best

It’s been a fun skill to learn!! Few projects down already!! Good luck!!

You can also hold the nozzle with your hand the glove will keep your hand from getting hot
I also noticed a lot of spatter which means your nozzle is to high which makes the arc out of control causing more spatter
I was using flux core, that’s why I was dragging. Following the saying “if there’s slag you drag.”
I noticed I was pulling away as I was welding..hoping this will get better in time
@@precisionanglingYT it’ll get better just gotta tell yourself to keep that nozzle close and slow down
Leading as we go
Look at youtube for welding for beginners
I’ve watched many hours of YT videos!!
That's what Ive been doing as well. Just cant afford the Vulcan 220 yet. But Ive decided that's what I'm getting. saving for...

DId u say you are using 220? What size wire and breaker did you use for your 220V supply?

Too much stick out…..
