KNOW YOUR PLACE, HANDMAIDEN! 😂
hi guys~ it's been awhile! I recently moved and adopted a bunny so took a little break from editing videos. I'm back and ready to continue sharing my journey with you all!
Missed your vids but it was a really good timing to take a break in 5.3 specifically
Welcome back!
@@ChipotleKanetsu thank you!! 🥰
Glad you’re back, I love your reactions & jokes during your time through this game
Another note btw. When Y’shtola suggests going to Matoya, she lists a series of adjectives to describe her. The first letter of each word in that list spells out the name Sheila. In honor of Matoya’s original English VA, who passed away a year before this patch was released.
yes I remember this being talked about. such a sweet tribute
To further elaborate on Nixie. It was the first familiar Y'shtola ever made as a child. Her older self despises the thing but Matoya seems to keep it around.
Yes, it's basically a proud mom keeping her child's old drawings pinned up on the refrigerator
I've been patiently waiting!! I'm glad there's new video to binge!!!!
Good to see your videos again Brit
It’s good to be back! 😊
In this episode, 5G comes to Eorzea
Glad to see you back Brit! Cant wait to see more of your ff14 journey! :D
Thank you!! :D Exciting things are coming!
You are back!
Thank you for actually liking Fandaniel. It’s so many people were saying that he’s “boring/flat” because he doesn’t have a “good motive” when if you listen to his speech here he literally just wants to die.
SHE'S BACK
Konyanyachiwa!😊 Welcome back!
Yay new video!
"Is [Fandaniel] okay? He's gone full Kefka!"
Yeah, he kinda...wait a minute. Okay, major early spoilers for Endwalker, do not read if you haven't at least finished the level 81 quests on Thavnair.
So, we know that this Fandaniel is one of the sundered souls of the previous Fandaniel, reincarnated as Amon of the Allagan Empire. And Amon in his Allagan garb, minus the mask, kinda resembles Kefta I think, at least stylistically or thematically.
Basically, I think Amon dresses like a clown.
I need mooooooooooar! Keep going ♥
Welcome back.
It's good to be back! ^^
Ohhhhhhhh 👀 Can’t wait
EDIT: Also, might be old news but Zenos and Sicard share an English VA
OOOH i actually didn't know this, thanks for sharing :D
@@britkcaley I remember seeing it as another voice when I looked up Zenos’s VA and going “…Sicard? Huh?” and being mindblown later lol
I would die for Ga Bu
Same!!
Uh actually yes, a katana WOULD snap like that. Yes, katanas are made of steel, but not all steel are equal.
TL,DR: katana steel only bends slightly, it WILL snap or even shatter.
Now, to dispel a couple misconceptions, katanas were not as "exceptionally sharp" as they're often claimed to be, especially if they were the mass-produced kind made during war time, and the differential hardening techniques were NOT unique to the katana, or even to Japan. One problem all bladed weapons have to contend with is finding the right balance between hardness and brittleness. The harder the metal, the harder the edge, and thus it retains its edge better and is more effective at cutting, but also, the harder the metal, the more brittle it is, thus it breaks easier. One thing that determines this balance is the carbon content in the steel: more carbon means softer metal, IIRC. One means of dealing with this problem, most often associated with the katana, is to use several different grades of steel at once. The katana blade was usually (but not always) made of three different steel compositions: a high carbon core, a hard spine, and a jacket with very low carbon content that makes up the sides and the edge. The jacket, being extremely hard, would be relatively brittle, but also very thin on the sides, making it quite flexible, while the core of the sword would be flexible, and the spine would be a shock absorber (although TBH, I'm not sure how that works). Then they would do differential hardening, where they would apply a thin coat of mud to the edge of the blade and a thick coat of mud to the rest of it, and put it in a hot forge so that the edge heated up hot quickly while the rest warmed up slower, then they would take it out and quench it in water (oil is a better modern-day alternative, FYI) causing the edge to cool very fast, making it crystalize in a process called martinization, I believe, while the rest of the blade would cool slower and thus be more flexible. I don't recall hearing anything about the samurai having means or methods of tempering the blades afterwards, though.
Regardless, the katana is a very flexible weapon for how well it holds up to regular use: whereas most swords of the day were good for one or two battles, katanas were usually good for a dozen or more fights, but that 'high flexibility' was still relative to how well it held up. Even a high quality katana would snap if you struck it sideways against something hard, but the flexibility all that work afforded it made a huge difference in how easily it broke from regular use: instead of a slightly off kilter strike to a hard surface practically guaranteeing the blade shatters, the blade was only in danger of breaking if subjected to a very unusual sideways force, like being struck hard from the side (which, from my own martial arts training, I say would be very hard to accomplish on another swordsman unless they were distracted) or stepped on.
