Rememberin Mr Jim Mccarty with Carmine Appice Drums great group the Blues & Rock the Best 🎸🎸 🎸 🥁
Jimmy McCarty and the Rockets are my favorite band.
What a beautiful, textbook example of how to build and execute a great guitar solo. Wow. Never heard Jim play that type of tasteful and melodic clean stuff before, like in the first half here --- so original but still appropriate for blues...then, classic aggressive tone McCarty, with such relaxed, thoughtful command of feeling and dynamics. Absolutely top shelf! Thanks for posting it.
JM belongs in RR HOM. Period. So many known players owe are who they are because of him. Most can’t carry his guitar case!
Jimmy is one of the all time greats. He has his own distinctive sound and is as effective at a whisper as he is balls to the wall.
The Cactus LPs were absolute killer W Carmen et al
Nice solo Jimmy.

Un des plus grands... Quel feeling!
Injustement méconnu !
Je le découvre enfin ,ne l’ayant écouté qu’avec Cactus auparavant !
Un Grand Artiste !!
Quite the line-up here!! Best I have ever heard McCarty play!!
Say what you will, but for me, Jim McCarty IS the best American blues guitarist to come out of the 60's era and still holds that title. Better than Hendrix, Duane Allman, Joe Bonamassa, Joe Walsh and he may play a tad slower than SRV, but he is the equal or better in style and ability. He certainly can give the British Blues invasion greats a run for their money also. Guys like Gilmour, Page, Gallagher, Clapton and even the extremely talented and complicated styles of Jeff Beck. The only British Blues guitarist that may hold a candle to him was the, in his prime, Peter Green. Overall, maybe not as versatile as Jim, but for passion, skill and emotive feeling he would be hard to beat, but before 1971 when his schizophrenia consumed him. But for me, I just love Jim McCarty's playing !!!
Bob, I agree with you on many of your observations, however I would have to add both DANNY WEIS (Iron Butterfly/Rhinoceros + many more), AND STEVE ("THE DEACON") HUNTER (Alice Cooper + many more) to the as good, or better than "list". And Jason Becker, never had chance to shine as he could've/should've. R&R!
Totally Agree Great guitar player.🎸

Great music jim. Yo are great with the yardbirds. But you are great in your in every thing you do. Just thought you should know that.
wrong Jim McCarty LMBO. This is the Jim McCarty from Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels. You have him mixed up with the drummer from the Yardbirds also named Jim McCarty
Awesome 👍
Bout as Bad Ass as it gets !
Jim Mccarty, for me is good like , Clapton ,Page,Hendrix , Gallagher, founder of the Yardbird I played with Cactus Band ,great among the Best 🎸🎸🥁🎹
Bluesy!
Great stuff, I'd stay out of the way of that Twin, too.
He is as Detroit as the steam coming out of the sewers
Well said !
What was the band that Roscoe used to play in with Gary Indiana? Can't remember, but I used to work at the Old Detroit back in the late 80s and early 90s, they put on great shows.
Это что-то!
Isn't that Don Was playing bass? Both McCarty and Mitch Ryder are the most under appreciated artists at their respective positions then throw in the Detroit album (on Paramount records) heads should have rolled for it's lack of marketing. Straight from the source Lou Reed thought it was a genre defining album and he LOVED the version of rock n roll. Detroit should have been a multiplatinum monster instead of a footnote.
Yep, Don Was on bass
Jim McCarty was never on the DETROIT album….album design by Stanley Mouse…RK Detroit🥷🏻
haha I remember serving him pizza at Carmen's on the East Side early 70s
Needed a place to sleep one night His sister was my soon to be girl friends high school friend. His Mother was away so his sister put me up for a night in his room. She said groupies would call her at all hours because they were concerned he was going to OD.Can't even imagine. Stooges guitar player didn't make it Nor did Fred Sonic Smith
of The MC5. I think Kramer's still around Singer dropped dead in his driveway after going for a 6pack. Long ago.
This Jim McCarty was Ted nugents hero in the early sixties
I'm sorry about that. Sometimes I get confused. But you're good too. I love some of the songs but still I'm sorry. What state are you all from.
Lisa Stone All the musicians on stage are from Detroit, Michigan. And for the record, this Jim McCarty's first instrument was the drums. His father was a drummer.

You're mistaken. You're thinking of Jim McCarty the drummer of the Yardbirds. They're not related. Also, this Jim McCarty has a son that is a drummer & plays in his band the Mystery Train.
@@peach495 Nope he was just on Ted Nugent's Spirit campfire & Jim said his first instrument he learned to play was the drums but switched to the electric guitar . I am sure he taught some of what he knew about playing the drums to his son .
