The reason these scenes are so similar is because the director of the Polar Express also directed Back to the Future III.

I’ll be honest, when I was a kid, I never knew how similar those two shots looked when the trains stopped. Not to mention that I also didn’t realize that both of the _Back to the Future_ trilogy and _The Polar Express_ were directed by Robert Zemeckis. Not only that, but another thing I didn’t know is that there’s a flux capacitor inside the locomotive.
