    Great successful experiment !
The outlet pipe size assisted with gravity created high vaccum which the intake pipe unable to compensate, the result is high sucking power.
Since the outlet deliver full 60mm capacity the vacuum power deformed the metal drum. Maybe can control the volume of water going out by installing a ball-valve at the end of the delivery pipe, to balance the input and output so that the drum will not deform.

@@kwaknitl-2guide318 i don't think so. if it's higher, it will not flow continuously and eventually stop when the strength required to suction the water from the river and the strength of the gravitational pull in the output pipe become balanced, as the volume of water in the drum decreases the water flow going out decreases also little by little until it will eventually stop.

If all you want to do is pull water over the hill/burm into the other water source then you don't need the tank.
Just pick your size pipe and put a ball valve on the outlet side then submerge the pipe to fill it, close the ball vale and carry the outlet side over the hill/burm.
Now all you have to do is open the ball vale and water will continue to flow.
It's a siphon just like you had but without the barrow/stand.
Water leaving the pipe creates a vacuum on the inlet side.
    It is simply volume displacement.
Your barrow crushed because you were closing off the intake while the outlet was still displacing volume.

@@icicicles A barrel may be practical to prime the siphon. One do not need any foot valve and no need to take a bath in the river to remove any plastic bag at the suction side. An alternativ is to suck the whole tube in water to get it filled with water.
This set up is a siphon with a starting barrel, it is not a pump. No siphon can lift water to a higher level. Water level in source usr be higher than discharge to the field.

I built this system and let me tell you. This is the old siphon system. Nothing new. Why? If you look at the delivery pipe, it is way below the source of water. If you lift the end of the delivery pipe above the source pf water, it won't work. The drum with water is simply a large part of the the narrow pipe. The water in it helps start the siphon system replacing the old way of sucking the end of the pipe with mouth or anything to start the siphon system.
Once more, the source of water must be above the end of the delivery pipe for any siphon system to work.

If water comes out, then your pump works.

@@kkselvakumar3110 I agree on that. Only wated to piont out that this system workd fine if and only if the water level in the river is higher than the outlet to the field. Many YT videos clame that this is a pump and can lift water ‚from a deep well‘. That is not possible. Suction is produced by the difference in height between the outlett and the top of the drum, not from the length or volume of the delivery pipe. If you doubble the length of the delivery, the water flow will be a little less due to more friction in the delivery.

      I did the same thing
      1. Fill up as much water as possible, force the air out from the drum/barrel we are using. (both side inlet and outlet should be air sealed while u r doing this)
      2. When the water overflows from that two vertical pipe, air sealed it. (Tips: I would suggest using 4 valve for all the holes, easier to operate and make a bigger hole at the bottom of the drum with an extra valve to clean the wastage that sucked in from inlet pipe, make it big so ur hand had access into it for cleaning or dealing with cloaking problems in the future. Do not use netting at inlet hole as it will cloak it as soon as some leafs being pulled over)
      3. At the end of the outlet, open it up and let it run for couple second to create stronger vacuum in the drum. ( the drum deformed when he leaves the water running for too long time, but strong vacuum suction was created as well)
      4. Open up the inlet and ur water will be running smoothly as they are filled with water without air in the inlet pipe, it makes the suctions stronger.
*Just remember one thing, short inlet and longer outlet, just make sure no air running in from the outlet, then this system will work just fine, so valve is super useful. If the pipes are filled with water in the outlet before opening up, it will be fine. But if u let some air into the outlet pipe, this system will fail.
Try it couple times to get the right vacuum suction u need, as different length of inlet pipe and quantity of airs going back into the drum do affects the vacuum power needed to make this work.
      Good luck!

you should have opened the inlet side first that might have kept the barrel bending, and or put a valve down by the discharge and slow the water down coming out that would for sure keep the barrel from bending

Yes, you opened inlet too late that’s why drum caved in due to sudden and enormous suction. Once a cylinder fails it’s going to remain like that, but it doesn’t matter as the siphon still works to full capacity. I totally understand the issue here, so next time I know you’ll have at least a helper along with you. Even if you increased the inlet pipe the drum would still have collapsed because the failure was due to the outlet being opened first while inlet was still shut off. But it’s a great piece of innovative idea from which people can learn. Please make more similar videos for us all. Thanks
