The Lakers haven't been 'able' to pay these top rated coaches is because they had Kobe, they have LeBron and Anthony Davis...they have guys that can give them that extra push, therefore they didn't need a 'top rated' coach. But with LeBron almost 40, Davis and his injuries, they need a 'cream of the crop' type coach to help them get to where they want to go. If this was a 30 year old LeBron, forget about spending top dollars on a coach...but it's a 40 year old LeBron. The Lakers now believe the coach is the difference for this team and title contention.
