A very interesting documentary. However the music edited into this is an example of how NOT to produce content. Way too much, too loud and inappropriate music has ruined this video. The content is interesting enough without trying to 'pimp' it up.

He has aknowledged the works as of ancient civilizations; Egyptians, Greeks, Babylonian, indians, Arabs, etc, and as a historical narration he is story telling. How else do you want him to acknowledge it. Prof has done good work in acknowledging the gradual advancement of mathematics through the ages.

The oldest clay tablets with mathematics date back over 4,000 years ago in Mesopotamia. The oldest written texts on mathematics are Egyptian papyruses. Since these are some of the oldest societies on Earth, it makes sense that they would have been the first to discover the basics of mathematics.

This was absolutely amazing. I was in a trance just loving every minute of it and had to share it. It brought back my mathematical memory I miss greatly but have forgotten the language, way back when I was in middle school I was a mathematical genius. My teacher was saying I could have taught a college class to students, but at the same time that year I had a seizure. Since then I have been an Epileptic 30 yrs now and in due time my memory and math had gotten scrambled as apparently the seizures stem from my left temporal lobe area. But deep down intuitively my brain still works like a computer but I can't describe it in our human terminology. This was just more detail the religious and spiritual people seem to forget about man's history. Thank you.

I was once told the numbers we used today are based on the number of angles in the written number itself. 0 had no angles, one had 1, two had 2 (more like a Z) three had 3, four had 4 (if the top of the four is not connected you have four angles, seven had 7 (put the line through the middle and add a small L to the end of the upper small leg and you have seven angles), eight has 8 (square up the circles and you have 8 angles) nine had 9 (square up all the arcs and continue the one line the second arc from the bottom through the middle, the arc on the bottom becomes square and a small line perpendicular to the end of it is added and you have nine angles), six can be done in a similar way 6 (straighten out all arcs and you have 5 angles, add one line perpendicular to the upper line and you have six), that they were shortened to today's form?

I feel like a few of these examples from the ancient civilization, are fairly unconvincing and seem like they could be reaching hard. Just because a modern mathematician is able to find some crazy patterns in some of that stuff, that in no way proves that this is what the person was actually doing at the time. As in, a lot of it seems plausibly coincidental. Particularly the Babylonian example of “the square root of two”. It’s just a fucking square with an X through the middle.
It’s interesting stuff, but much of it is so highly speculative as to be pseudoscience. Then again though, these historians aren’t working with much in a lot of these cases.

In search of the remark of the presenter, I asked chatGPT “How was the library of Alexandria destroyed?” and I got the following answer. As it is hard for me to believe that the Islamic conquest of Egypt could have destroyed the Library since the very foundation of the religion is based on acquiring knowledge. The very first word revealed to Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) from Allah (God of the Muslims) by Arch Angel Gabriel is to ‘read’ or ‘Iqra’. Not only that, every incident, even the number of warriors in a battle during Mohammad’s (PBUH) time was meticulously recorded by his followers and the next generation of followers of the followers and so on. And the trend continued. I just heard of the ‘destruction of Alexandria by Muslim Conquest’ theory from this video and never heard of such an important event in history before, in my life. Whatever the truth may be the same conquering force build so many beautiful religious structures at the same time in and the around the land of Egypt and North Africa. Those are based on the mathematics of patterns and proportions. They established so many institutions of learning and scholarship at the same time. It is important to note that the Library's destruction predates the Islamic conquest of Egypt. Anyway, history is sometimes cruel in favor of the players who play the time. I respect the presenter in his journey to seek the truth and look forward to his conquest of truth in the future.
    ChatGPT’s answer:
The Library of Alexandria, one of the most renowned and significant libraries in ancient times, met a rather unfortunate fate. There is no one definitive account of its destruction, and historical records provide various explanations. However, several theories exist regarding the library's demise:
    1. Fire by Julius Caesar: In 48 BCE, during the Roman conquest of Alexandria, Julius Caesar was said to have accidentally set fire to the Egyptian fleet in the harbor. The flames spread to the city, reaching the library and causing substantial damage. However, it is debated whether the library itself was intentionally targeted or caught in the crossfire.
    2. Destruction during the Roman period: Over the years, during the Roman occupation of Egypt, it is believed that the Library of Alexandria suffered further damage and deterioration due to neglect, lack of maintenance, and occasional unrest.
    3. Christian mob or decree: Another theory suggests that the library was destroyed by a Christian mob or through an official decree from a Christian ruler. The reasoning behind this theory is that the library was seen as a repository of pagan knowledge and thus a threat to Christian authority. However, concrete evidence to support this claim is scarce.
    4. Multiple incidents: It is important to note that the Library of Alexandria was not a single structure but rather a collection of libraries scattered throughout the city. The destruction of the library might have occurred gradually over time through a series of incidents, including fires, invasions, and general deterioration.
Due to the lack of comprehensive historical records and conflicting accounts, the exact details of the library's destruction remain uncertain. Nevertheless, it is widely accepted that the Library of Alexandria suffered significant damage, leading to the loss of countless ancient texts and knowledge.

Thank you for your insightful comment, and I agree that the destruction of the Library of Alexandria predates the Islamic conquest of Egypt, and history can be complex and filled with various perspectives.

The humanity , spread in different places, through the passage of time, came to know these universal truths revealed in mathematics during different times. Their egos and identities and the ability to publish and the power they had enabled whoever to survive and be known through the history.
    A few things stand out.
    A) Human knowledge was shared, and others built on the others' knowledge.
    B) No one can claim monopoly, on the knowledge, as it belongs to humanity as it was built on others' discoveries.
    C) The West was good at claiming others' knowledge as theirs, while knowledge spread through commerce via silk road and colonisation, but clever people who brought these back to their cultures.
    D) A very clever man/ woman can be killed by idiots and fundamentalists who are aggressive, so it pays to learn the ways of the world as survival is the main thing.
    E) Idiots who are in power can ruin thi g's for everyone, and sharing and cooperation will benefit all.
