I have only just got one today (uk) worn for two hours, bad oa knee brilliant instant relief. Back to usual on removal.
That is a good sign that you may be able to buy some time before having it fixed.

I had a question: In case the patient has valgus and osteoarthritis in the lateral meniscus, exactly the opposite situation of what you describe in the video, how would you go about it and what are your recommendations for which unloader brace to fit and if it is recommended any at all? Hi Andrew, Yes a brace is appropriate if the knee is of the right shape. You would get a brace made to unload the lateral joint line. They do exist.
How does one get fitted for an off loading knee brace? Physical therapist?
If the weight is transferred to another part of the knee does it not just cause problems there eventually?

Hi Jorge, That's a tough one. At 81 y/o having a knee replacement can be a little tough on someone. The brace would be effective if his leg is relatively small, top to bottom. Not conical. Also, the brace is most effective if the OA is just on one side of the knee. If it is throughout then it probably won't help. Lastly, he would have to be capable of putting on the 4 to 5 straps on independently. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your video! I am a 65 year old very fit woman and was just fitted for the medial unloaded brace at my ortho’s office in Bozeman MT. The MRI shows 2 small medial meniscal tears. I am scheduled for a menisectomy in 2 weeks. I also have a subchondral edema in the medial femoral dondyle without a fracture line. The plan is for me to wear the brace in the next 2 weeks to relieve the stabbing medial localized pain - but I am finding that the brace is just as painful on the lateral side - digging into my leg. The setting is zero so not sure why it’s so bad. Does it get better over time?

What about someone with all the same activity level, etc., except with conical legs? My thigh is much bigger than the rest of my leg.
Hi Elisabeth, the conical leg is very tough to work with. Braces typically slide down.

Too many unknown factors to say. Try t meet with a Physio or orthopedic surgeon.
