    When Hispanic families moved on our block and we started sharing food & cultures it was fun. Sometimes we couldn't communicate well but we learned I'll never forget my mom & the lady next door would exchange food and just smile at each other because they hadn't learned each other's language yet.

      Yep. My brother was the bball star of our neighborhood and the biggest dope dealer took him shopping for college. My mother definitely didn’t have the money but this guy got him everything he needed. My brother was the first to get a scholarship and the hood was proud.

    I grew up the only whyte blonde girl in my school. I was in HEAVEN I learned how to cook from the mexicans, black & indian & navajo mamas... The MUSIC was like nothing i had ever heard.     I had black friends in LA that spoke perfect Spanish, they grew up in Mexican homes eating Mexican food and following all the Mexican customs and traditions, they were one of us.

    I grew up in WATTS and i had several black homies that were more Mexican than Mexicans, bumping Chente, Cornelio, Chalino, Ramon. Down homies always had my back and vice versa. RIP Night Owl 🙏

    Its fun when cultures mingle together... In 1990 I grew in LACA PICO UNION area with Mexicans, Salvadoreans, Guatemalans, Hondurans, Koreans, Filipinos, Belizeans... It was beautiful to get to know everybody's culture!
