My friends and me never split the bill according to what everyone had, we always just split the bill by the number of us ... And there Tikkie comes in handy!
I'm 100 % dutch and I have never use my tea bag twice....I like to shop and go have lunch in a cafe but I hate to throw food away and other stuff I gave that away and if a friend ask me to take something from the supermarket and it cost like 2/3 euro she will say send me a tikkie ...all I do is smile there is no way I would do that...but like the dutch says ...je kan niet in iedereen z'n portemonnee kijken 😊and we love 1+1 gratis😅
Wasteful might mean different things to different people, but what she means and many Dutch folk do, is stuff like: When buying olive oil, buy it in a glass container not a plastic one. (Glass in The Netherlands, and many other European countries is recycled.) Buying bars of soap, instead of douche-gel, way less plastic and often bars are either organic or biological thus less chemicals, being better for the environment. The waste in these things are the non-recyclable materials, chemicals etc. Though from as far as I have seen and noticed, so far, correct me if I am wrong, but recycling is not done in the US, generally speaking. Yes a few exceptions, but in general.
"Zonde" translates to both a waste and a sin. I feel that's important. "wasting stuff is sinful" is how one might perceive it.
Glad to live in our beloved NL🇳🇱, especially nowadays 😊
I find making dinner myself often gets me a better experience than ordering food these days.
Het is ook gezonder en ik vind het toch vaak lekkerder dan dat ik het haal of laat bezorgen.
I am a bit frugal. I shop my groceries at Aldi (Trader’s Joe) and just bought 1 kilo of cut and peeled ‘stamppot’ potatoes €1,49, a bag of freshly cut endive (400gr/0,4kg) for €1,69, bacon slices (150gr) €2,39 and 4 beef sausages for €4,19. A total of €9,76. I chopped the bacon slices in strips and backed them in a saucepan, boiled the potatoes and roasting the sausages. In the saucepan with the bacon and grease I stir fried the cut endive, I mashed the potatoes with 20gr of cream butter, half a cup of milk, some pepper, salt, nutmeg and a tablespoon of mustard, put the stir fried endive and bacon to it and mix it to get andijvie stamppot (endive stew). It is a really good recipe, very cheap and reasonably healthy. To be more healthy (and less tasty), don’t use the bacon grease, the cream butter and the gravy. Take a beef sausage with it and some beef fat juice/gravy and I had a great meal. And another 3 meals to put in the freezer. A meal for €2,44 is cheap in my opinion and very tasteful.
Thank you, Neal. Another nice one! You have such a good heart, and your spirit shines through in all that you do. I’m so happy to see that you’re more than half way to 1K subscribers. You deserve your success. 😊
Heeey, our Dutchie by choice! 😁👍🏻✌🏼
@ Haha. Yep! It’s me. 😊
Honesty best policy.
25 years ago I worked in a concrete factory, with 400 people. When the company said the coffee wouldn't be free anymore, strikes were ready to break out.
Within 4 hours the decision was taken back, without strikes. You really don't take free coffee from Dutch workers.
Instead they moved the factory, and fired most people 5 years later. Atleast we had our coffee.
I have never seen a tea bag being used more than once, and I would never drink it either.
It’s too frugal for me too and I’m Dutch.
never seen it either and I'm a tea drinker.
I usually don't pay that much attention to money.
maybe a stupid comment, but does it matter what you eat in america. most of it is very unhealthy. example. fries in the netherlands have 3 ingredients, in america 14. in the netherlands it is potato, oil and salt
