Joshua Bailey Yeh, Same. I have a strong obsession with the DreamWorks Home Entertainment (1997-present), Lionsgate logo and the THX logo. (Tho the THX intro scared me as a kid)
STAR WARS It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet. Pursued by the Empire's sinister agents, Princess Leia races home aboard her starship, custodian of the stolen plans that can save her people and restore freedom to the galaxy....
I keep expecting the Star Wars music to come in. That was the most watched FOX video in the house, so every time I hear the FOX theme music, the Star Wars Theme always plays in my head 3 seconds after the FOX theme.
According to the wikipedia page for 20th Century, John Williams and Lucas decided on purpose to have the Star Wars theme continue in the same time as this like a continuation because Lucas likes it so much. So for them mission accomplished.
If Disney buys fox, I hope they will put this intro back at the beginning of star wars movies. That music and logo always built up the excitement that a new installment of star wars was about to start. It felt epic and historic hearing this music, so I assume if Disney owns Fox, they will have the ability to do that. Star Wars movies feel like somethings missing when this logo is not here

One mistake right off the bat I must point out. The reference to "CinemaScope 55" was in use in 1956, not 1955, as the people here seem to think. It was associated with just two 20th Century-Fox films, "Carousel" and "The King and I." At the time, Darryl F. Zanuck and Spiros Skouras were attempting their 'Scope as Todd-AO, a wide screen style Fox would later buy in part was coming into vogue. CinemaScope 55 was intended as a 55-millemeter CinmeScope, rather than the 35-mm 'Scope Fox had been using for three years. The irony of this was that when "Carousel" and "The King and I" were sent to theaters, most of the prints were 35mm CinemaScope anyway. Another twist to this story was that Fox had signed Frank Sinatra to play Billy Bigelow in "Carousel," but the studio wanted to shoot the film twice in 35mm and in 55mm. Sinatra balked and demanded to be paid twice, so Fox replaced him with Gordon McRae.
Wasn't Grandeur 70 in use in the 30's and 20's as well? Happy Days (1929 musical) was the first widescreen film to be produced, and it was in that format. The 70 was a reference to the 70mm format instead of the year. CinemaScope 55 and Grandeur 70 are anomalies to us unlike CinemaScope which is quite well known. I don't know that much, but I do know that Grandeur 70 was an earlier thing that didn't catch on.
I'm curious why they changed the key for the star wars one. Was it so that it would match the key of the intro chord for the title crawl? If so, why is that the only time they've done that.
Star Wars was the first time that the 20CF fanfare was used with the "CinemaScope extension" (the bit that plays under "A Lucasfilm Limited Production") on a non-CinemaScope film. George Lucas liked the extended fanfare so much he insisted on using it, and John Williams specifically composed the main title theme in the same key (B flat).
That wasn't the only time like honorableartist said and I think they did for the 1955 version but I think it's from not finding an original video or because of copyright
This FOX logo is part of my fondest childhood memories of sinking into a movie theater seat and starting hours of fun and adventure with it. It's the best logo of all the other movie studios.
I hope so much that you are correct man... i really do. But since they already bought even a television chanel i dont see this purchase as impossible to happen... im afraid if they manage to succed they keep buying more and more and no one stops them... imagine if they get sony? That would be a disaster, all tecnology and even 007 franchise would be theirs...
Since the 3D one debuted, it's always been so weird to me how the camera just slowly dabbles its way around the giant freestanding logo while the long-ass extended fanfare plays. Also, when disney bought 20CF, they should have gone back to 20th Century Pictures, but they went with Studios for some reason.
Oh come on. The camera work on the 3D logo is absolutely stunning. And the fanfare isn’t long, it’s 22 seconds. P.S. you can never talk sh*t about the best movie logo of all time.

I hope they add the 20th Century FOX fanfare for the Sequel Trilogy and Star Wars Story films.
They restored it to the original 6 movies, not the sequels beacuse they were never involved with those to begin with
if the logo was real, it would probably be a tourist attraction

Nope, not even close. They called it CinemaScope 55 because the negative (and the test prints of same) were 55.625 mm wide.
