I cried on my way to work, cried like a baby at work. The clouds were so dark and gloomy. Cried back from work, cried some more during prayers. It’s really becoming depressing. All these parents that nurtured these babies till date. Saw every milestone and experienced things only memories can understand. If God gave me one wish, it would be the bring back the lives of those lost in all these senseless mass shootings, but God has the final say. And cannot be questioned. Pray without season. I keep crying/ my son is 7 and my daughter is 10. If I lived i the USA with my kids, I would never send my kids to school overe there. Homeschooling, only. Its just not safe to have a family over there anymore. But I live in Sweden, we never ever had a schoolshooting. But we have 2 incidents were a teenage student killed 2 teachers with knife. And also a teen who stabbed some classmates and killed 2. Im pretty sure if we had the same gun laws as USA, we also would share your problem.

From a mother who lost a son last year, nothing is more painful than losing a child. A part of you dies. This world seems foreign now. You go through the motions of everyday life feeling empty and angry and numb and sad and so lonely. There is nothing anyone can say or do to take away the unbearable pain. You long to hear their voice just once more, to see their smiles one last time, to hug them so tight, and to let them know how much you love them and how sorry you are that you couldn't save them. You wonder if there was something/anything you could have done. It's hard to see through your tears some days. It's hard to breathe some days. You pray that they are ok. You wonder if happiness could ever exist here again with the void they left behind. Your heart aches for just one more minute. I pray for all the Uvalde angels that they are safely home. I pray that their families and friends receive a visit from them in their dreams letting them know that they live on and that they are ok. I know this was my only comfort. It is not goodbye forever. We will see them again one day.
Yes, there is something that they could've done. Home school these children. The issue is that these females want to work and be independent while neglecting their responsibilities as a mother. This is why the public school system created this image of having women in these schools to teach and be the children "protector/authority figure" like a mother would be at home back in the day. Was there any protection from these teachers? No! It had to be some random border patrol officer just so happened to be in the area that saved others from being hurt by one young male. Seeing tt they had failed to secretly kill me, America then changed its tactics to get me killed by d authorities as in d story of Patty Hearst, Daniel in d Bible and Jesus Christ. At d Harris County Court, a black giant Gestapo constable strangled and choked me and carried me into jail with one hand for no reason. D pain was excruciating and I suffer pain till today since d incident in 1987. in Japan (one of the safest countries), you need to take a firearm class and pass a written exam, get a psych evaluation and doctor's note saying you're mentally fit & you don't abuse drugs, get interviewed by the police, and explain why you need a gun, apply for 2 different permits (1 for the gun, 1 for buying gunpowder & ammo), and pass extensive 2 background checks, attend training & pass a firing test, obtain a certificate, and keep it in a safe and ammunition locker, oh and you also get interviewed with your family members, and neighbors. In the USA you just pass 1 background check and you can get a gun; the guy who shot the elementary school up was 17, and bought an assault rifle (an AR) He shot over 200 bullets in the classroom. Am afraid we are just too proud and arrogant to learn from who does better than this nation on this issue.

As I walked her to her class I was thinking like omg to never see her again I would be devastated just imagine the parent of the victims. Why can 18-year-olds purchase guns? They can’t even go to bars yet. It seems most shooters are around 18-early 20s, I believe. It’s a troubling age, especially if you feel lonely and rejected. I wonder if it would help to at the very least raise the age limit for accessing guns to 25 or even 30.

Evil is evil, and it's not defined by age. 18-20 in my book isn't necessarily any more prone to violence than any other age group. If someone is violent it will happen regardless of age. All raising that age does is limit law abiding people from owning guns. People who have never committed a crime or will ever commit a crime. Will a national age restriction work? More than likely not. I know logically it would seem that way, and the media would have you believe that 18-20 year olds are inherently more violent. It pushes a narrative. I think largely society is too blame for loneliness or rejection, and no I'm not blaming video games or social media. I am blaming the culture, and certain aspects of modern trends. But I think the reality is the blame should lay squarely at the shooters feet.

Your thoughts and prayers are kind, BUT THEY ARE NOT ENOUGH. Laws must be passed to prevent unregistered gun sales, open carry, sale of assault weapons and unlicensed gun ownership.
It’s beautiful to see the victims being put first ahead of the shooter. They were all living breathing loved beings full of life and potential whose lives were senselessly taken on the whim of a young adult with access to too much of the wrong kind of power. To the parents, from someone who has lost a child there are no words anyone can give that can truly soothe such a loss. The helplessness is so real. As parents our children look to us to protect them so when things beyond our control happen to our babies a part of us is inconsolable. I empathize with you all. At the beginning and the end of the day no teen 18 years olds included are mature enough to handle deadly weapons with out the strictest of supervision. There maybe occasional exceptions but as a rule hormones run high at that age. It’s a different story if they are disciplined as in a member of the armed services or hunting under competent adult supervision if neither apply there is no reason they should be able to carry let alone buy a gun. We don’t let ‘em buy liquor until they turn 21 well they shouldn’t be able to handle or own a gun either. Republicans and Democrats need to start acting like the are of the same governing body and get something anything done otherwise wise what good is either party to these families traumatized, the ones constantly taking losses. Compromise and team work are integral to the job of a civil servant. I looked up school shooting since I graduated in 1999 and the increase is embarrassing. Nothing wrong with wanting to bear arms but the wielder must have a healthy respect for the power they hold and ought to have reasonable cause to purchase. “With great power comes great responsibility” is not about fictional super heroes. We should not idolize disrespect for life given all the work that went into making it possible on this planet. Have we found it anywhere else yet that we can afford to be so wasteful? Psych evaluations should be standard. Associations with hate groups and gun related crimes must be considered. We have technology let’s put it to use to solve the problem. Also Competent adults do not create ads shooting guns as part of their campaign or on public facing social profiles if one becomes a government official that part of the public persona is sacrificed as soon as the oath to be a civil servant is taken. What’s done on personal time out of the public eye can be to individual discretion, but don’t use an ability to fire a weapon to gain voter support, that will be looked at when things like this happen. Keep your mind and speech on the topic sharp to protect those rights those are the weapons civil servants wield. Resorting to actual weapons when there is no physical threat is poor form. The only adults we ought see on national TV with guns in their hands are those trained to handle & respect them basically federal service men and women and police officers on shooter and swat maneuver type operations, otherwise tranqs and stunners. Hunting shows are appropriate too as long as again the use is respectable, competent and responsible. Everybody else ultra private and highly secure mode or nothing. What technology is capable of safely and effectively scanning and locating weapons? Can we get it into police vehicles? A pair of glasses officers can wear? Officers wouldn’t have to carry guns on their person if their vehicle has scanned the individual or vehicle and found no weapons. The gun can be locked in the car and only made available under certain conditions.

We all are affected by this! I am a Texan, a gun owner and a mother. This should not have happened and those in power MUST do something besides express remorse. It is time for gun control, including banning all assault weapons.
We need to teach people to love and respect each other again. Our world today is one where violence seems to be the key. That needs to stop. We shouldn't have to be putting our kids in fear and doing lockdowns. Let's let our kids know that bullying and violence isn't okay. We had years to correct this yet it has only gotten worse. Prayers to their family. I own a gun and as a single female living alone I do feel much safer. I did took a class and practice shooting at the range. Still, I do believe we need stricter laws. It was so easy and it’s still very easy to purchase any gun. Every gun owner should go through a 6 month course and mental evaluation. Or something. I agree with you that something must change, but I’m not sure about the 6 month course prior to purchase. That is precious time lost when women are running from an abusive spouse or partner. The gut punch you and I feel comes from the innocence of the victims, more so when they are young. Additionally, the horror deepens when you realize the victims are random. The deaths were not cancer stricken, not sick, not soldiers in a war, not playing with danger, and not fighting one another. When the victims fall, it flashes in our minds, it could have been me or my loved ones. None are sick, at risk, or at war. There’s nothing we can do to avoid these things, nothing to keep us safe. In groups, the loss because of plane crashes, or falling buildings, or from random bombs, happens to groups of people making the horror deepen. This is the gut punch.

The population already has millions of guns in their homes. Illegal gun sales are also in the possession of criminals. They already broke laws to get them. It’s likely they won’t follow any new law.. a strong committee representing all sides and points of view should start a commission to discover what is the most effective way to stop the killing….both mass murder and otherwise. These members should leave their politicking at the door and gather fact they can agree on. Then we can have a conversation, maybe make recommendations. The last part would be to test the scheme in a city like Chicago, a place that has a lot of killings and shooting, and implement the recommended plan and see if that works before we spring it on the nation.

I cried on my way to work, cried like a baby at work. The clouds were so dark and gloomy. Cried back from work, cried some more during prayers. It’s really becoming depressing. All these parents that nurtured these babies till date. Saw every milestone and experienced things only memories can understand. From a mother who lost a son last year, nothing is more painful than losing a child. A part of you dies. This world seems foreign now. You go through the motions of everyday life feeling empty and angry and numb and sad and so lonely. There is nothing anyone can say or do to take away the unbearable pain. You long to hear their voice just once more, to see their smiles one last time, to hug them so tight, and to let them know how much you love them and how sorry you are that you couldn't save them.
You wonder if there was something/anything you could have done. It's hard to see through your tears some days. It's hard to breathe some days. You pray that they are ok. You wonder if happiness could ever exist here again with the void they left behind. Your heart aches for just one more minute.
I pray for all the Uvalde angels that they are safely home. I pray that their families and friends receive a visit from them in their dreams letting them know that they live on and that they are ok. I know this was my only comfort. It is not goodbye forever. We will see them again one day.
Yes, there is something that they could've done. Home school these children. The issue is that these females want to work and be independent while neglecting their responsibilities as a mother. This is why the public school system created this image of having women in these schools to teach and be the children "protector/authority figure" like a mother would be at home back in the day. Was there any protection from these teachers? No! It had to be some random border patrol officer just so happened to be in the area that saved others from being hurt by one young male. I just don't trust the government especially the democrats today because they would sacrifice innocent lives to push whatever agendas to pass with the help from the weak society.

When I caught them prying my petrol tank to get me into another accident and called d police, nothing was done and they then pushed me down d staircase and broke my face again with relentless punching until Jennifer, a 12 year old girl living across d street rushed out to call d police. 3 white policemen came to scold me for not cleaning up my bloodied face and then asked for d race. 2 policemen burst out laughing in great glee and joy and left without saying another word when I told them tt it was white men. Seeing tt they had failed to secretly kill me, America then changed its tactics to get me killed by d authorities as in d story of Patty Hearst, Daniel in d Bible and Jesus Christ. At d Harris County Court, a black giant Gestapo constable strangled and choked me and carried me into jail with one hand for no reason. D pain was excruciating and I suffer pain till today since d incident in 1987. Inside d jail, I was in great pain and distress thinking tt AdolpAmerica had kidnapped me to send me to the gas chamber like what they did to d 6 million Jews. in Japan (one of the safest countries), you need to take a firearm class and pass a written exam, get a psych evaluation and doctor's note saying you're mentally fit & you don't abuse drugs, get interviewed by the police, and explain why you need a gun, apply for 2 different permits (1 for the gun, 1 for buying gunpowder & ammo), and pass extensive 2 background checks, attend training & pass a firing test, obtain a certificate, and keep it in a safe and ammunition locker, oh and you also get interviewed with your family members, and neighbors.
In the USA you just pass 1 background check and you can get a gun; the guy who shot the elementary school up was 17, and bought an assault rifle (an AR) He shot over 200 bullets in the classroom.

Why can 18-year-olds purchase guns? They can’t even go to bars yet. It seems most shooters are around 18-early 20s, I believe. It’s a troubling age, especially if you feel lonely and rejected. I wonder if it would help to at the very least raise the age limit for accessing guns to 25 or even 30.
Especially for the garbage that this society has become, the country is essentially bankrupt, there is no place for the D student to go after highschool except the service industry with today's economy and oh asylums are closed it too much of a violation of rights to keep the crazies locked up anymore
Evil is evil, and it's not defined by age. 18-20 in my book isn't necessarily any more prone to violence than any other age group. If someone is violent it will happen regardless of age. All raising that age does is limit law abiding people from owning guns. People who have never committed a crime or will ever commit a crime. Will a national age restriction work? More than likely not. I know logically it would seem that way, and the media would have you believe that 18-20 year olds are inherently more violent. It pushes a narrative. I think largely society is too blame for loneliness or rejection, and no I'm not blaming video games or social media. I am blaming the culture, and certain aspects of modern trends. But I think the reality is the blame should lay squarely at the shooters feet.
This is all about mental illness and nothing to do with gun control. When tormented mentally ill people fall under the spell of our wicked media they can easily go off the deep end. They are the exceptions and outliers, and more media hate means more of this. Whether it's Ramos, Darrel Brooks, Tim McVeigh, Ted Kaczynski, they will be violent. It's just basic stats - bigger populations mean not only more crazies but crazier crazies.
Gun control only means less power for us and more for a gov't that's becoming increasingly more totalitarian. The average person is not a homicidal maniac. Blaming guns is a ruse to stop citizens from being able to resist and oust the gov't.

Not being able to protect yourself until you’re 30 is laughable. What’s needed is more extensive mental health background checks before being able to purchase a gun. Do you have any idea how often there are cases of people having to shoot someone to save their own life? A lot more often that these school shootings but you don’t hear about those on the news.

You just never think something like that could happen to your kid and no one should be thinking that because they were doing what they were suppose to do. The system needs to come up with a way to think 10 steps ahead of these people committing these incredibly horrible shootings. I know they can’t read minds but they sure do have the power to restrict, ban, and take extra steps into who their selling these firearms to. Background check isn’t enough. Go to the home. Inspect. Have the person who is purchasing the firearm no matter what age, have someone or more come in when purchasing to kind of get a sense of who the person is. Often these people buy these firearms without no one knowing that they did that. I don’t care what your age is or whatever right is given when it comes to firearms but some very deep inspection and investigation needs to be done before someone even get their hands on one. Background check is not enough! Or checking if there was any history of mental illness. Sometimes they suffer quietly and no one would know. Raise the prices of guns, please do something to not make as easily accessible! These kids and teachers mattered. It shouldn’t take more than one school shooting to understand that something must be done. And no we need to stop saying “something must be done” we must get it done. Now! We need security. Hire school securities who are trained to defend and protect. There endless options and it’s like to ban and make certain drugs illegal they will go above and beyond, but when it comes to firearms it’s this whole debate and stuff. Like no why are we even questioning human life. I understand that some need it for protection and defending but deep investigation and extreme inspections should be done. Apply pressure!!!

It’s beautiful to see the victims being put first ahead of the shooter. They were all living breathing loved beings full of life and potential whose lives were senselessly taken on the whim of a young adult with access to too much of the wrong kind of power. To the parents, from someone who has lost a child there are no words anyone can give that can truly soothe such a loss. The helplessness is so real. As parents our children look to us to protect them so when things beyond our control happen to our babies a part of us is inconsolable. I empathize with you all.
At the beginning and the end of the day no teen 18 years olds included are mature enough to handle deadly weapons with out the strictest of supervision. There maybe occasional exceptions but as a rule hormones run high at that age. It’s a different story if they are disciplined as in a member of the armed services or hunting under competent adult supervision if neither apply there is no reason they should be able to carry let alone buy a gun. We don’t let ‘em buy liquor until they turn 21 well they shouldn’t be able to handle or own a gun either. Republicans and Democrats need to start acting like the are of the same governing body and get something anything done otherwise wise what good is either party to these families traumatized, the ones constantly taking losses. Compromise and team work are integral to the job of a civil servant. I looked up school shooting since I graduated in 1999 and the increase is embarrassing.
Nothing wrong with wanting to bear arms but the wielder must have a healthy respect for the power they hold and ought to have reasonable cause to purchase. “With great power comes great responsibility” is not about fictional super heroes. We should not idolize disrespect for life given all the work that went into making it possible on this planet. Have we found it anywhere else yet that we can afford to be so wasteful? Psych evaluations should be standard. Associations with hate groups and gun related crimes must be considered. We have technology let’s put it to use to solve the problem. Also Competent adults do not create ads shooting guns as part of their campaign or on public facing social profiles if one becomes a government official that part of the public persona is sacrificed as soon as the oath to be a civil servant is taken. What’s done on personal time out of the public eye can be to individual discretion, but don’t use an ability to fire a weapon to gain voter support, that will be looked at when things like this happen. Keep your mind and speech on the topic sharp to protect those rights those are the weapons civil servants wield. Resorting to actual weapons when there is no physical threat is poor form.
The only adults we ought see on national TV with guns in their hands are those trained to handle & respect them basically federal service men and women and police officers on shooter and swat maneuver type operations, otherwise tranqs and stunners. Hunting shows are appropriate too as long as again the use is respectable, competent and responsible. Everybody else ultra private and highly secure mode or nothing.
What technology is capable of safely and effectively scanning and locating weapons? Can we get it into police vehicles? A pair of glasses officers can wear? Officers wouldn’t have to carry guns on their person if their vehicle has scanned the individual or vehicle and found no weapons. The gun can be locked in the car and only made available under certain conditions.

Its is upsetting to see this happen again and again over the years. As a parent I understand their grief. But these men should be held accountable for with the death sentence no matter the age!!! Social media should be the key to try to avoid these accidents as they post as he did.

here we are, making laws for forcing unwilling people to be parents to unwanted children, as a 'punishment' for having sex. Then we wonder why neglected youth turn psycho and kill others.
This is just about guns… your suggestion that our country needs to find morals is subjective and idealistic, even if we agree with the premise. Guns provide the kids who slip through the cracks empowerment. Now instead of a bitter young adult, we have a bitter young adult and another mass school shooting of innocent children. If you have older kids, you’re well aware an 18 yr old isn’t really an “adult”. You could make that argument for young twenty somethings. It’s just too much lethal power and to use the 2nd amendment to justify semi automatic rifle ownership, particularly without restriction at such a young age is abusing the constitution by taking its intent out of context. I think it’s fair to say our founding fathers never quite conceived the types of guns we have today. Congress should be held liable if they aren’t willing to implement protective measures on these types of weapons.
That is why how guns are viewed and used today are different with the problems and challenges facing society . our forefathers wrote the 2nd amendment with thought of people of that time and would be astonished how the amendment they wrote have been reinterpreted by people today

As heartbreaking and devastating as this is, it's even more devastating to know that these tragedies will NEVER stop. Since Columbine the people that we've voted into office has had plenty of time to make this a priority if they wanted to. It's not their kids or grandkids in jeopardy.
Chicago and Washington DC have the strictest firearms laws in the country and lead the country in shootings. Criminals and the insane will not obey the law, mass shootings do not happen where people are allowed to carry firearms
Yeah.. school shootings and other similar mass shootings takes place in most states yet the legislators from those states did not even bother passing stricter gun laws... The only known exception is Connecticut after the sandy hook which also included victims who are as young as 8 years old
Prayers to their family. I own a gun and as a single female living alone I do feel much safer. I did took a class and practice shooting at the range. Still, I do believe we need stricter laws. It was so easy and it’s still very easy to purchase any gun. Every gun owner should go through a 6 month course and mental evaluation. Or something. I agree with you that something must change, but I’m not sure about the 6 month course prior to purchase. That is precious time lost when women are running from an abusive spouse or partner. There are certainly many ideas that need to be brought forward for how to improve the process. At least you are presenting possible solutions. We have to keep brainstorming and talking to our elected officials.

When my school in Santa Fe, Texas got shot up, they did the EXACT same song and dance. 23 people got shot at my school. The SAME governor came to our city, did a press run, the news and the cameras came, they said conversations were happening about gun control, and that things would change. People cared for a month. Then it slowly faded away and people forgot and nothing happened!!!

The gut punch you and I feel comes from the innocence of the victims, more so when they are young. Additionally, the horror deepens when you realize the victims are random. The deaths were not cancer stricken, not sick, not soldiers in a war, not playing with danger, and not fighting one another. When the victims fall, it flashes in our minds, it could have been me or my loved ones. None are sick, at risk, or at war. There’s nothing we can do to avoid these things, nothing to keep us safe. In groups, the loss because of plane crashes, or falling buildings, or from random bombs, happens to groups of people making the horror deepen. This is the gut punch.

@@Mary-xb2fz in every case of mass killings the killer was mentally unstable. A mental guy caused blood in the streets of London when he beheaded a soldier in uniform using a knife to do it. No guns allowed in London, that’s the law there.

@@CrazyLoveOwl You may have a point but I don’t know of any proposal for a new gun law that would have stopped any of the mass shooting we have seen. The population already has millions of guns in their homes. Illegal gun sales are also in the possession of criminals. They already broke laws to get them. It’s likely they won’t follow any new law.. a strong committee representing all sides and points of view should start a commission to discover what is the most effective way to stop the killing….both mass murder and otherwise. These members should leave their politicking at the door and gather fact they can agree on. Then we can have a conversation, maybe make recommendations. The last part would be to test the scheme in a city like Chicago, a place that has a lot of killings and shooting, and implement the recommended plan and see if that works before we spring it on the nation.
