I love the birds in the background. It’s really relaxing while watching you carve. It makes it easier to listen and learn. Thanks😎

This has been extremely helpful in so many ways!
Thank you for sharing your expertise. It’s a great relief to hear that the basswood you’re using is hard because when I started whittling a few years ago I thought I was not understanding how to sharpen or hone my knives or I was just really weak. 😂😅. My sister sent me some basswood she harvested for me and the difference is remarkable.

Great little carve Alec . Some basswood is really hard , had some myself . If you’ve never carved before it could put you off carving forever . I’ve noticed if the wood is light in colour it tends to be easier to work but the darker wood has better grain …..looks great when you put a treatment on .
Always learning, thanks for the upload 👍

Great video that will get me back in the saddle as i had 2 surgery's on my left leg one a full knee replacement and then a torn tendon so i have had no focus and pain was really bad can't wait to chip away at some wood ❤️💥

I'm really glad you've been doing these whittles. I do enjoy your bark carving, but the whittles are more up my alley. I appreciate all your videos and the time you put in to educate the masses.

Hey alec, think you'd be able to do a tutorial video on how to add like a cigar to the character your making?

dude you rock, I actually just started carving a couple weeks ago and you've got this real cool way of teaching. I am horrible at woodcarving, im an oil painter and i thought it would be easy and its not, I tried something really ambitious and was quickly humbled so these beginner vids are right for me and much appreciated.

It looks like it's a Badger State Blades knife. I've never used them myself but looking forward to getting a couple soon

As more of a whittler I’m loving the last 10 or so videos you have posted. With Linker taking a break and now focusing on not just solely whittling, I think there’s been a lack of quality beginner tutorials on UA-cam. I hope you can keep them coming. My one critique is sometimes what you’re doing goes out of camera. It’s nice having a nice up close view but it’s probably difficult to keep it centered all the time. Maybe backing out a tad would help keeping it in frame all the time.

I am very impressed with your extraordinary skills.. the knife you use is very sharp. Where can I buy this type of tool or do you also sell it? If it's true, how much does it cost and can you send it to me? I'm in Indonesia.
