@@e.castlerock8454 ....no probs...the sad thing I find is that folk get taught basic strumming patterns and then never experiment to develop their own style...try varying your strumming throughout any song so it fits any change in rhythm there may be ....loosen up any fixed strumming and just have fun...👍😊🥰🎵🎶💖
Hi Graham, I am just learning the Ukelele with the help of my son Roy, who follows your channel. I find it quite difficult to train my hands to do different things. I notice that you play with your thumb, I have been trying this but can't seem to keep my fingers folded out of the way while strumming. I enjoy your tutorials and your Friday sing along with your wife and daughter. I lost my wife almost a year ago, and learning to play the Ukelele has helped me cope with life. I am determined to master the art. Thank you for all that you do. Chris
@@crocker1947 ..Hi Chris....thank you so much for your lovely comment.... we're so sorry to hear about the loss of your wife and send our sympathies and condolences to you and your family.💕. I do play with my thumb but just tuck my other fingers in rather than out. Please do check my videos on " Basic Strumming " as these should help but it really is just finding a style that suits yourself and that you find comfortable ...you can even try holding and using a felt pick as these work well. Please do join a local ukulele club as they are full of the nicest folk you'd ever wish to meet ( I've found uke players to be a very warm and lovely group of folk no matter where we go )....we have a lot of widowers in our Eagle Ukes group that we run and watching all the friendships blossom over the years is beautiful and lovely to all have a shared interest and help each other learn.....and then to go out and perform with others is amazing ( you may think you never will but just see what life brings you and have fun )...👍😊🎵🎶💕....sending you our love and very best wishes....💖..please keep in touch on how you get on...🥰👍💕
Hi Graham, years ago the landlord of one of our local pubs was a ex pro musician who played great finger style guitar. He always said when you accompany your singing with just a guitar you should think of the six strings as your band and not just as a single instrument. That's exactly what you're doing here with the four strings of the uke.
@@Reeldin58 ..thanks Rod ...that's so kind of you to say....the instrument can be made so much more interesting than how it's mostly taught...just hope these tutorials inspire players to experiment and develop their own style....🙂👍🎶🎵🥰
@@ramblingsofaretiree4322 thanks so much for your lovely comment...it's just a style I developed and felt added to rhythm as you say to the song ...👍🙂🎵🎶💕🥰
It definitely sounds better the second way! I really need to step up my strumming. Thanks for the lesson!
