- Newton Stewart is a former burgh town in the historical county of Wigtownshire in Dumfries and Galloway, southwest Scotland. The town is on the River Cree with most of the town to the west of the river, and is sometimes referred to as the "Gateway to the Galloway Hills.🏴👍👍👍
I'm from Newton Stewart originally. Haven't been back since I emigrated to Canada 11 years ago. Regarding boy racers, cruising is a popular pastime in the area. Just spend their day and night driving up and down the town occasionally stopping to chat to another car doing the same thing.
Thanks for your input .have a good night
Does anyone know anything about the history of the Rennie family who hailed from Newton Stewart? My grandfather was Robert Vance Rennie and he was born probably in the 1870/80’s. He emigrated to South Africa around the turn of the century. He passed away in South Africa in 1957.
