Two points of contention: 1) The Switch’s high game sales can also be attributed to the ease of buying digital copies compared to the physical releases. 2) Your Wikipedia graphic disproved your own point about Smash 4. Smash for Wii U alone sold 5.38 million while the 3DS version sold 9.63 million.
I was about to point this out, it kinda pissed me off that he got that second bit wrong. Even if he combined them then the worst-selling game in the series would be the original N64 release, if he separated the two then Wii U would've been the lowest selling.
I remember when a little after I got my 3DS and then got Mario & Luigi Dream Team, I really wished they would release a remake or remaster of Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story because it was my favorite DS game ever and my copy went missing. I was very excited when the new one came out and I was one of the few people who bought it 😅 I'll have to play it again though and pay attention to the frame rate lol and I've barely played the new game mode.
21:20 excuse me what? The Sales you just showed before had the sales of the 3DS version of Smash being separated from the WiiU. The 5.5 mln copies are on the WiiU version alone, the 3DS game sold over 9 mln copies. these two combined make for over 14.5 mln. I appreciate your efforts, but this video overall felt unprecise and lacking overall, definetly below your average video output
Wasnt the reason why Bowser's Inside story remake bombed because nobody was buying 3ds games anymore? The switch was already out 1-2 years at the time of announcment. Also please add in Xenoblade in these videos
The Bowser’s Inside Story remake probably bombed to it being released so far in the 3DS’s lifespan. At that point nobody really cared about the 3DS anymore, majority of the focus was on the Switch by then.
And you can also play the original game on the 3DS. So if you have it, you don't buy the remake. I bought it for I don't have the original game. It should have been released for the switch or/and they should have made a Partners in Time Remake for you can't play it on the newer Versions of the 3DS. I bought my 3DS like 10 years ago. My brother got his (which was the newer version) 2 months later. I can play PiT, he can't play it. That was the cause for many fans wishing that Partners in Time would be remade.
1:45 BIG NOPE, it was an american dude who said that OG Mario 2 was too difficult, and then japan responded with Doki Doki Panic for the US market. Miyamoto never said that
I just want to say that one franchise you tend not to look at but I think you should especially since it is at its best on Nintendo systems, though not only on Nintendo systems but also PC and even the SEGA Dreamcast, the game I'm talking about is "TETRIS", and if you do do a video on Tetris be sure to include all the systems it has been on and any sequel or spin off titles, thanks
Wow! I must have been lucky to be able to own a copy of Kirby's Block Ball. It's actually a really fun spinoff game. Kirby Star Stacker which came out later on Game Boy was better, but Kirby's Block Ball was also a lot of fun as well. Honestly I'm a huge Kirby fan. I've played so many Kirby games in my life. The first Wario Land is a lot of fun, but it is nice that 2 through 4 and Shake It had a more unique playstyle to Mario in comparison while Wario Land had inspirations from Mario, but it looks like they should make more Wario Lands that are like the first one. I enjoyed a free download Pokemon Rumble Battle on my 2DS, but I had no idea there was a Wii U version despite owning a Wii U myself. That screenshot you showed has Mario Kart 8 Deluxe above Mario Kart Wii. Also, the Wii is the highest selling Nintendo home console as the Nintendo DS is the highest selling console of all time as it is the second highest selling video game console of all time right behind PS2. It doesn't surprise me that the 4th entry was the worst selling Smash Bros game, but what is surprising is the fact that the numbers are even that low because back during the Wii U era it seemed like I would always find someone to play the game online with.
Even though the Wii is the best selling console, its game sales consistently get beaten by switch. This is because the Wii was so casual-focused, were bought by families and non-gamers, just for Wii Sports and a few other titles. The Switch, however, is all about the games, so its game sales are more in line with the console sales. This actually makes the Switch more successful than even the Wii, in the long run. The Wii U, combined with the more lukewarm sales of the 3DS, almost killed Nintendo. Thankfully the Switch was a huge hit.
Not quite. The Wii had an overabundance of games, so many of which are masterpieces and those people legitimately wanted to play. The Wii's library alone destroys its predecessors' (and successor's). The reason for low franchise sales on the Wii is because the "Wii series" sold over 200 million copies. Considering this series started and ended on one console, yet already sold more than most franchises can ever hope to, is just ridiculous. It was the sheer popularity of the "Wii games" that took sales from other juggernaut franchises. Had this series not existed, even if just Wii Sports did, I can assure you the Wii would trump sales in almost everything. The rumor that Wii owners didn't want to play games, and that they bought few of them, is an absolute lie.
@@pacoramon9468 I meant the sales as a whole. As I said, a lot of Wii buyers only got a few select games, so you are going to see a handful of huge numbers, but the sales trend lower on an overall average.
@@crazydud3380 Again, not true. The Wii had an equivalent attachment rate to the PS2. Both consoles sold on average 10 games, which is at the top of the list. @@calebdonaldson8770 I suppose, though that doesn't seem to line up with the numbers presented here. Perhaps the first party titles have sold better on average for Switch? If that is also untrue, then this video has factual errors.
My only thing with these videos that concern me is when something is "best seller" of a console when it was the flagship game that was also included with said console. Those numbers sometimes make it seem very skewed and biased somehow
I would also add that the Mario & Luigi remakes came out in 2019, which was when the DS was on the point of being phased out. When a game comes out this late, if it's not a huge deal Like Pokémon or the Last of Us, sales are generally significantly lower than if the game came out even just a few years before
The Superstar Saga Remake was bought a lot more than the Bowser's inside Story Remake, for you could only play Superstar Saga on the GBA and not many people have it anymore. Bowser's inside Story Remake sould poorly because the original game could also be played on the 3DS. They should have made the remake for the switch or remake Partners in time for the game could only be played on the DS and the first 3DS (the later version can't read the card).

wait a second wasn't the animal forest game still released on the N64. I don't remember it needing the ddr drive at all. It has a build in battery for the games clock tho :o
You missed the biggest point of why Mario Party the top 100 sold the least in the series: the game itself focused just on the minigames, and had only 1 barebones board to play on. In Mario Party, boards are a core part, and minigames alone aren't enough to make for an interesting experience
About Mario Party the Top 100, one good thing I can say about it, is they fixed the bumper ball minigame, making the minigame end sooner than in it's origin game, where it tended to result in a draw supposedly, wasting everyone's time, as I don't think even in older entries, that anyone gets anything out of it in a draw.
Animal Forest was not released on the 64DD. It was released on the base N64. It was SUPPOSED to be on the DD but due to bad sales of the DD it was moved to the base N64.
So the lesson from this video is: To sell well, either 1. Be the first game 2. Release on the Switch 3. Be Metroid Prime (or Star Fox 64, or Bowser's Inside Story, but let's be honest this entry is funnier with just the one game and the fact that I have to pre-empt comments "um actually"ing me is very annoying) Whereas to sell poorly, either 1. Don't release worldwide 2. Release on the Wii U 3. Just overall suck out loud That tracks.
I feel like ocarina of time would have a lot more sales if we counted virtual console and the GameCube port. We really need to count rereleases in this. The best selling games lists are very inaccurate for this reason. Like Tetris on every platform is counted but super Mario bros only original release counted. Good video, the stats aren’t your fault. Official bestselling games list do this.
Animal forest was supposed to come out for the 64DD, but they saw how much it flopped and just released a standard elongated cartridge for the clock feature
Which Donkey Kong game was released between the first Metroid and Fire Emblem games exactly? The only way I can see you keep putting Donkey King between the 2 is if you’re going by the American release of the NES Donkey Kong and the Japanese release of Metroid 1
The only reason I got a Switch originally is the open world Zelda game. I always wished Ocarina, Wind, Twilight, Skyward were all open worlds but they weren't. Breath is 95% open with no under water swimming.
what surprises me about the Smash one is that the 3DS version sold more than the Wii U version even though the 3DS version was WAAYYY harder to play due to screen crunch.
I wouldn't say that New Horizons includes the best parts of Animal Crossing because it is considered one of the more underwhelming entries considering the content in previous entries. It may be the most popular, but it definitely isn't the most well-received. The same goes for Smash Ultimate, as Trophies, an actually good Adventure Mode, and the lack of diverse modes like Board the Platforms, Smash Run, etc. are all absent. Smash Ultimate is more of an Online game, you get easily bored playing by yourself like I do. Smash for 3DS is my personal comfort food. I love that game and its modes to bits.
Great video, though. Could you please find time to make a sequel video including Xenoblade, Pikmin, F-Zero, Luigi's Mansion, Chibi-Robo, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Pokemon Ranger, and Punch-Out? Also, there are very obscure spinoffs to Punch-Out, just so you know. You could also include Game & Watch, Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Pushmo, Dillon, and the Wii Sports/Wii Play games. Oh yeah, and Xenoblade Chronicles technically has 4 entries since you can buy Torna: The Golden Country as a separate release, and it does have enough content to be considered it's own small game. However, it still has the "2" in the title. It's like considering New Super Luigi U it's own game, except this one has a completely new prequel story, new protagonist, and a new battle system.
My sentiments exactly on the whole GBA thing. That consoles library is really trash. If you want a completely original experience on that thing good luck finding it. Nintendo literally just slapped ports and remakes on it. What an overrated console.
I'm surprised that 3 houses is the highest selling Fire Emblem game. The teaching system felt too grindy and while the idea of being able to teach any character any weapon type was ok, it was harder to teach certain characters certain weapons and you might has well have stuck to their preferred weapon type. I'm also not a fan of being forced to pick a side and never having a chance to recruit every member of the other two houses. That makes it feel like a lesser version of Fates imo.

Smash bro’s for 30 years is it garbage putrid game that you never left the development stage ever
What about that wario game on virtual boy
Pokémon Rumble U sold less than TRETTA LAB?! A game that never left Japan and dealt with an ARCADE EXCLUSIVE?
I can’t believe Star fox zero sold so bad
I……kinda did. The control scheme can be obtuse for many and its the third time they are retelling Fox’s first story. It’s pretty sad considering the message at the end of the game.
@@nintendolife25 The controls is not as bad as everyone says. Go to training mode and spend about two hours learning the controls, because the motion controls are kinda complicated. There's a minus button that swap screens and you have the ability to turn the motion controls on or off in the pause menu. It's easier to shoot everyone in first person mode, where as all ranged mode is easier for avoiding enemies.
@@orangeslash1667 Oh wow, this comment is two years old. XD Anyways, that’s true but it’s still not a control scheme everyone is willing to adapt to. Sometimes, accessibility is the key to success.
@@nintendolife25 The game also has a Co-op mode where one player uses the gamepad to shoot in first person, and the other uses the pro controller in all range mode.
I think that Virtual Boy Wario Land is probably the worst selling Wario game but I can't find anything to back that up
14:23-15:12 I may be the only one in the comments to have Pokemon rumble u and I may be the only one that liked it.
I've always like the rumble games and when I saw pokemon rumble you I bought it I enjoyed it the NFC wasn't necessary for the game and the game was fun and I didn't have to buy something
I have Rumble U but I didn't like it. I liked the other Rumble games though.
@@BJGvideos if I have to be honest just because I like rumble you also doesn't mean it's my favorite it's actually my least favorite but I still liked it
If they said that Metoid Prime Federation Force didn't have the classic Netflix style, why didn't they say that about Breath of the Wild?
"Classic Netflix style"?
Poor pikmin didn't get metioned
Since this video came out, Kirby and the Forgotten Land has overtaken Dream Land as the best selling Kirby game.

Poor Wii U, rest in peace.
Smash 4 on 3ds sold over 9 mil smash 4 for Wii U alone sold 5.38 million

Partners in time was a bad game and a remake would not fix it. No one can change my mind.
