@@micheledickey4066 thank you so much! I’ll have to remember to include them next time. The first two vases are amaco firebrick x2, arctic blue x2, and seaweed x1 !
@@klubaceramicsHaha. I was wondering if that was the combo! They are just beautiful. For the matte black that you didn’t really like the look of, be sure to apply each coat in a different direction so it has more even coverage and doesn’t leave the lines.
Hiya from New Zealand 👋 firstly oh my god I love your accent! Secondly I’ve just found your channel (and subscribed) - I love all of your sgraffito work 🤩🤩🤩
@@laneyscraftingcreations431 thank you so much! that’s awesome! I just checked out your channel and subscribed, great work as well! also thank you lol! I am definitely Seagrove born and raised😂 thanks so much for being here!
Hi from nearby in Siler City. I'm a wannabe potter and watch pottery all the time. I have not visited Seagrove yet but hope too soon. Looking forward to seeing your work 😊
@@ncmy4kids Hey neighbor! Thank you so much! You should definitely plan a trip to Seagrove, there are so many talented potters here! Goodluck on your pottery journey!
I LOVE those first two vases! The shapes are *perfect* for that glaze combo, and it's a stunner! I haven't used speckled clay since college, but looking at both pieces I think you're right and it's the speckles. That's iron, and the pinholes seem pretty evenly distributed across both pieces rather than just a spot, do you use underglaze or slip for your black?
Thank you so much!! I was bummed about it at first, but honestly it has grown on me lol. And I use underglaze! This was my first time trying it on speckled clay, I didn’t expect it but I do believe that’s all it was!
@klubaceramics A stained slip should solve that, for the black at least. The carved areas may still do it, I don't know how noticeable the texture was irl but if it's mostly a visual rather than texture thing you should be fine!
Hey: Just a quick note. i use the Coyote Black. It is totally opaque with 3 good coats. I use it when making black background with red sploches of the coyote really red. the colors did not run. I have someone who loves red and black. Hugs, Chris
Hello! Just watched you for the first time. Nice work. I also pour molds. Not as many as you. So you throw. Do you hand build? That is my specialty. The magnets with your logo. Look very professional and neat. Looking forward to more. Happy potting. Chris
Just found your channel, you do very beautiful sgraffito work! I don’t mind the specks showing in your speckled clay, they look like stars. It is from the manganese specks in the clay.
Thank you so much! That’s what my husband said, I didn’t like it at first but they have definitely grown on me! And I have been subscribed to your channel for a while, I love your videos! Glad to have you here!
Your mugs are great. I love to do sgrafitto too. Nice ideas and designs. I use Amoco velvets underglaze , Jet black. Is that your under glaze ? I'm glad I found you. I have been very happy with Coyote glazes.
Thank you so much! I’m glad to have you here! Yes, I use amaco velvet jet black, it’s worked great for me! I also love coyote glazes, they’ve definitely become my go-to!
Love your stuff just a thought about your logo fridge magnates I think you would benefit if you put them In for free with any large pots you sell that way they could put them on their fridge and if they wanted more of your pots they would have your contact details all the best from england
Thank you so much! I definitely think these were, I tried dipping it less in my most recent video but it did the same thing! I’m going to have to play around with it some more.

Beautiful carving. If you only went up halfway with your black mat and used a glossy glaze with a little Flux on the top, I think you would love it.

The manganese in the speckled clay causes this problem
Interesting, I figured it had something to do with the speckles…thank you!
