What’s cool about the bird bottle is that it’s an exact miniature replica of ones they still sell in the Colonial Williamsburg gift shop! I love seeing the bird bottles tacked on the Colonial houses there. I had most - if not all - of those old catalogues at one time. I did not keep any. 😭😭 Thanks to an old friend, I have Holiday 1996 again (with Kirsten on the cover). RIP to all of those doll accessories that broke over the years. I dropped Molly’s snow globe as a teenager, and it broke. 🙃
Oh man. At least we know it was real! But seriously, the miniature replica thing was SO Pleasant Company. Modern AG could never. Wasn't that their entire thing with the accessories? Now that you mention it, I think I do remember learning that about the bird bottle! Goodness knows I went to Colonial Williamsburg enough to see it at some point 😆
People do buy the catalogues! ❤ I want to get another myself. It’s up to you whether you sell them, but there is a market for them. Mini Josefina was my first mini (with painted eyes). I wasn’t interested in the glass eyes version as a kid, so I appreciated the painted eyes. I agree that she’s spot on. She’s still my favorite mini. The new minis have all vinyl bodies. They are still cute, but I liked the tiny cloth bodies better. I think framing the Hallmark cards would be so fun! I loved the Hallmark line and treasure what I’ve gotten. I may have to frame the postcards I’ve saved.
Yesss those all-vinyl bodies seem so weird to me! I've seen some of them on Mercari and eBay and the pictures look so off-putting to me 😅 They really peaked with painted-eyed, cloth-bodied mini Josefina. Good to know there's a market for the catalogues!
THE NOSTALGIA YESSSSSSSS. American Girl was such a huge part of my childhood - the books! the magazine! the paper dolls! the catalogs! the pasttimes! I had so much of that stuff too, though I got rid of a lot of it too, like a fool. Me from the mid-90s didn't know that this would become an obsession in my early 30s. She didn't know any better. I forgive her. Grudgingly. This was really enjoyable to watch and I loved the editing style; it felt very cozy, in a way, making it feel like chatting with an old friend. Thank you for sharing!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! And good on you for forgiving your past self. ❤️ I think the only reason I was able to hold on to all this stuff was my mom. She knew how sentimental & terrified of change I was as a child, so she let the boxes sit in the basement for decades instead of purging them. I owe her a lot!
Speaking of Kit items disintegrating…my poor Kit school bag is peeling so much I bought a replacement. Hopefully that doesn’t peel. The school sets are some of my favorites, and I hate to see them degrade over time. I’m a y2k millennial. Isabel and Nicki are only a year younger than me! I can relate to them so much! But I wouldn’t say no to a mid 90s historical, too.
I'm about 5 years older than them, and it's INSANE how much of a difference that makes to me 😂 I feel like I see my teen years in them (in some ways), but my AG PRIME was in the mid '90s and I felt so jipped that the Hoffmans were set in '99-'00 (at the very tail end of the decade!!!) and not the classic '94-'95. 😅
The AG catalogues and paper dolls were also things I didn’t keep. I subscribed from 1996 to 2007 and then in 2017 during its last year of production. I did however save ALL of my mini mags. My dolls have a nice collection.
You have a fortune in catalogues if you were to sell them. I have a huge boxed stack myself. Enjoy. I really had fun watching you go down memory lane. Nice video.
This was awesome!! Love vintage AG catalogs and ephemera. So funny that they had so many at one time. Nowadays they barely send any, have to special request! I'm still kicking myself for getting rid of the magazines 😢
I thought I was just imagining things, but you're right! It's amazing how much digitization and inflation have changed things. They barely need catalogues anymore with the functionality of the website. It's a lost art!
Thank you! 😅 I had a lot of fun on this one. Hahah glad I'm not the only one! It's a fun motivation to finally go through all those old things, once and for all. If only we had infinite time 😆
I had bought Felicity for my daughter in the 90s and I have her now. I almost have all of her outfits but (very) high on my wish list is Felicity's breeches set....but won't spend $250.!! I had lots of catalogs too but went on a purging in my house and threw them out (UGH).
Right? The price of that item is SO ridiculous! I would honestly rather have a reproduction. The purging of houses is a dangerous thing 😅 But I'm sure you could get at least a few of them back someday!

😆 Somebody had to hold onto their AG magazines!

I definitely wouldn't sell all of them, but maybe a few of my spare Spring or Holiday '97s 😆

Also, thank you for being here!
@@LynnieBird it's literally my pleasure, I love your channel and your style 😁
Just saw this and love it! Your PC memories are what PC was all about.
Thank you! It really was a special thing to be a part of ❤️
Excellent editing!
So relatable! I have randomly packed and missing AG items 😅In fact all my catalogs are among the missing things.
Thank you! 😅 I had a lot of fun on this one.
