Lead VO director is the singer from the british djent metal band SikTh. Everything about the creation of this screams "wtf" hahaha.

Logen M the concept has been in the making that long. Not the actual game. Meaning the guy who had the idea to make Disco got the idea for it 13 years ago. They made the game in about 3 years.
No one is commenting how artistically bleak it looks. Or rather, they are busy commenting on how the game has personalities that disagrees with you. Which in itself is a great hook. But the art direction is very much a big plus.

Finally! Someone breaking the same rpg stat tropes that's been overused for the past 20 years. This game should not fall under the radar, and instead garner huge attention. Awesome job, Karak.
I think it's cool how the game takes the cliche and just ups it to another level, where it just becomes ridiculous which in turn coincides perfectly with the tone and the story this game goes for.
Allan Kaliel the purpose is so that the player can learn what they call their currency, & how it’s measured. Even if it is a trope, I feel like this is one of the more clever ways to integrate it into a story. Even asking questions about things I already know (like politics) yields interesting answers, as things are much different in this game world.
This is an extremely good review for a game I was on the fence about getting. I must admit that the first words being "Planescape Torment" made me reach for my wallet instantly, but every point you raised afterwards just comforted this first impression. Thank you for not letting me miss this opportunity !
I don't understand why it took me so long to realise, but now I can imagine that the MC was trying to hang himself during the night before the game starts, but was so drunk that he only managed to put the tie on the fan and proceeded to fall and pass out on the floor after that.
You can literally hear in Karak's voice the excitement and how much he likes the game. I dont think that I have ever heard Karak so excited talking about the game in the review, I guess I gotta check it out soon.

Disco Elysium is a table top RPG without the combat that's usually associated with the genre. Combat comes in the form of an interactive novel instead of hacking away at an enemy's health bar like you would in a traditional RPG. It's very similar to Planescape Torment, if you've ever played it!

Daijodan what are *you* talking about? Whenever he talks about graphics, he gives a downright thorough rundown of hardware oftentimes, & is equally knowledgeable when it comes to audio. This isn’t the best example, but whenever it’s exceptionally well done or poorly done, he seems to understand the technical aspect that resulted in said flaw. It’s actually pretty unique from other review channels, in that regard.
Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis, Lure of the Temptress, Beneath a Steel Sky, Planescape Torment, Baldur's Gate, Disco Elysium. It fits right on the shelf with all these, and more.

Yes, this game makes fun of you no matter what you believe, and in doing so it offers you valuable insight to conflicting political and religious ideologies. And I do mean VALUABLE. I have a BA in philosophy and have spent countless hours arguing philosophy and religion and politics with people, and this game summarizes all the typical talking points and arguments you will encounter in RL to a creepy level of accuracy! It's so, so good...
_Psyduck_ absolutely incorrect. I haven’t played one of these types of games since I was 5 or 6, having no clue what I was doing (I was born in ‘91), & it’s made me become incredibly interested in playing more of it’s genre.

I'm watching review on phone and what is interesting to see is that the whole interface layout looks very good and accessible on mobile. I think it was build in mobiles in mind. I think it will be released on Android too some day.

Honestly karaks excitement about it on last Fridays podcast sold the game even better than this review. Getting killed by a book because it's too smart for you? What other game does this? I usually don't play topdown rp games like this but I'm very intrigued by its unique everything.

I don't really play video games at all, like occasionally i will try random games like portal and last of us ect but i dont think ive ever been more interested in a game than this one! I hope to try it soon, i absolutely love the art style and the themes in it seem hecking cool

Picked this up yesterday. Played for 10 hours. Had me dying laughing like I never have at a game. Totally immersive. So good
It's like playing a DnD game ran by a DM with multiple personalities that constantly disagree. Looks fun!

They broke a lot of RPG tropes but kept in the ridiculous "amnesia" one. I had to roll my eyes when he forgot what the concept of "money" was.

Bought this game and it was one of the best game I played recently, easily 60 hours on just one playthrough, many more to come
I felt nostalgic for Shadowrun (SNES version) while watching the gameplay. I haven't thought of that game in a decade or more. Going to have to check this out.

Haven't heard of this game before but I am very interested in trying it out. I really like how the artstyle looks like concept art, especially some of Dishonored 2:s concept art.

Wasn't on my radar, but now it is. Sinking City and now this. Feels like detective RPG is starting to turn into something of a new sub genre, and I would love more of this clue finding and multi ending type games with well written mystery. I will be buying this now. Thanks ACG!

I scratched my head at that. Why do we need the latest graphics cards and an i7 to get a stable 60 FPS on a 2D RPG in 2019...
You can really notice those 60 fps when scrolling through those lengthy Dialog windows lol

That was the GFX options setting. Game was tested on all settings. just happened to have that when I wanted to show options.
